Like xchronox0 I'm trying to find the OST for Geist, avalable only on Gamecube.
Its a little known game but not rare though, yet not a single track has appeared online. Thanks for reading ;o)

I had to manually rip these 3 tracks from the disc.
Then convert them to .mp3.
Obviously there are more tracks but they're hidden within containers and none of the containers or files are in common formats.
I found 41 tracks entitled .song that have suggestive names like dogsneak.song and finalboss.song except all 41 files added together only makes 270KB?!

If anyone knows how to find and extract audio files from .GSF, .OLC or .SDF_GC containers let me know.

Xirror link below: 320kbps CBR, .mp3 format, in ZIP archive (normal compression)

Damn it, the link is dead. Anyone have a reupload or can someone try a rip?

My german is pretty average but it sounds like they're closing down xirror.
Hopefully this rapidshare one works (made today (23rd July 2008)):
http://rapidshare.com/files/131826657/Geist.zip.html

I still want to rip more from the game but the files are extremely small and in unusual formats (that is if they're even songs they could just be reference files)
i.e. "dogsneak.song" is 9.10KB

The files I previously extracted and converted where 544KB, 1.87MB and 2.53MB. All in .adp format.

So I'm a little stuck basically. If anyone has any ideas, knows how to do it or has already ripped the game then upload, preferably here.

Can you give me a list of the formats? I'll try and post them around to see if anyone know them.

Maybe they are like MP4 files where the processor does the work so it doesn't take up memory?

Edit: Is there another way you can get this song, it's my favorite and all I can do is shit recording with a mic.

Containers that may contain tracks:
[filename].GSF [filename].SDF_GC Fear.mmf & Fear.samp
[filename].PSB (not a Photoshop file)

Possibly single tracks:
[filename].song

Alright, I'll starting posting that around and see if I get any bites.

Anyway you can get a good rip of the youtube song?

Best way I found for that is just do a multiplayer for 10 mins, and turn sound off and music to max and wait till you get the track. Although as I said, I suck and never got a good quality version.

via Firefox 3.0.1:
Install: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4318
go to youtube, click the globe icon next to the address bar
save file to desktop and make sure the extension reads [filename].flv

via Internet Explorer:
Install Realplayer 11, go to youtube and hover over the video until a real player button appears, save file

To convert to .mp3 use: Total Video Converter (or another converter)
and make sure to disable video and rip at its original bit rate and other 'original' options

To make louder and clearer: open the mp3 with Audacity, select all and choose Normalize under the Effects menu. Leave the settings as they are and apply. Export all as an mp3 (make sure you direct the program to the mp3 encoder (oddly called: lame) and choose options: 96kbps, constant bitrate and joint stereo.

Sounds long but it aint, i extract a song from youtube while i wait for a better quality version though a p2p program.

This compatible with Mac? Since otherwise I'm boned

berger20

I don't really know, every now and then i get bored of Vista and install Leopard on my laptop, but its so limiting i always load the Vista partition instead.

Firefox runs on mac and the plugins should work too as they're not OS specific. Audacity runs on macs too i believe. But the converting part your'll have to do on your own, i dont know about 3rd party apps for macs.

if it doesnt work then you could try running xp/vista in a virtual environment and doing it through there, but if you have never done it before its a little tricky and a long process.

Here are 8 tracks I direct ripped(First ever). Yeah, I know it sounds alittle shitty but personally, I think I did a good job. I encoded them in 320 bitrate, you'll hear the song twice and a fade at the end. Black Knight can figure out the tracknames.

For Black Night: if you haven't already tried, track 6.mp3 uploaded by qqqqqqwe is the one you were looking for.

Also for ripping from console to TV, i had a thought, an audio cable with a 3.5mm jack on both ends connected between the headphones socket on the TV and the microphone socket on a PC. Then use audacity or similar to record the sound coming through the 'microphone'.

Both can then be trimmed, repeated and faded if wanted/needed.
I can't believe I didnt think of that before, still ripping directly from file is always better providing it's possible.

For qqqqqqwe: "Yeah, I know it sounds alittle shitty"
You saying that I thought the proberly will be, but they sound perfect.

Maybe another time you could help me with "Dogs Life" for PS2, i have the songs in there purest forms but the only thing willing to play them is "MFAudio v1.1" but they're slightly scramled. They're .mib files (35 tracks equaling 231mb) and are definatly complete. MFAudio also gives all the technical details: frequency, samples, format (compressed raw) etc.. but I have no idea what to do with them.

I have a program that rips anything being played through the speakers (all software based which I thought was quite cool), so I only need to be able to play the files, so converting them directly to .mp3 isn't necassary unless i can do it at the same time.

If you want to/can help we could start a new thread on it.

I've tried to work with the file extensions but it seems really impossible now. I can't figure out what to do at all. If anyone would be kind enough to rehost the 8 tracks that Qqqqqqwe was nice enough to rip himself, I would be very happy. Thanks again.

Hi everybody !

I know the topic is very old, but i finished Geist 2 days ago and i loved the game, especially the soundtrack !
I am looking for it, I made some researches and unfortunately, nothing found expect somes tracks on youtube:(

I think the game is unknown.
I saw the links on the topic for the Geist OST but they are dead since 2 years.

I would like to know if somebody could reupload the OST if you still have it ;)

Thanks you very much in advance !

As requested above I have uploaded all the tracks I have. Some I converted directly from .adp from the EU gamecube disc.
Other tracks from others appear to be recorded via microphone and line in.
Sadly I don't know of a full rip, and haven't looked at extracting/converting the tracks further - I hit a wall.

Links are: (.mp3's in .zip, no password, minimum compression, both halves are not needed for extraction)
first half: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WWMAAC05)
second half: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7KUNQ6G9)

Thank you very much Berger 20 !

No problems for not found a full rip, your rips contains the main songs I loved and in 320 kbpps !.
After, there is not titles but it doesn't matter, I will try to rename the songs by myself !

Thanks a lot anyway :)

I know this is an ancient thread and I apologize for necroposting but I'd like to know if anybody can repost the downloads for these songs? The afore-posted links don't work, at least not for me anyways. I've searched so many different websites for this game's soundtrack but to no avail. This game had one of my all-time favorite soundtracks.... The main track I'm hoping to get is the Creature boss battle theme.

Hello,

Sorry for not getting back sooner.
Sadly, neither myself nor the community was able to extract or source any more tracks that those I've re-uploaded below.

If you do find another source though, please post here as at least myself would be interested in getting the full soundtrack.

Due to ffshrines 4KB limit (really!?), I've uploaded to 4shared:

I didn't think I'd ever get the Creature Boss battle theme back.

I've just realized, now that Dolphin can run GC games at full speed, the audio could be ripped digitally direct to the PC.
Though there would be SFX over the top, unless the tune plays through the pause screen...
I'm not going to have the time to do it, but it's a possibility for you or someone else to pick up on.

First-timer here and I just wanted to contribute with a full rip and upload I recently finished.
Michael Reed & Brad Martin - Geist OST [256k] (http://www.mediafire.com/download/j8p1k5hxao6907x)

It's got a handful more from the campaign than the link above - some of the more well-known songs no longer fade out and instead have the original "tail endings" restored, just like the way you'd hear in-game. The files are fully tagged and complete with artist and album relevant info. Most of the songs I either named after the levels they're presented in, after already established rip names (e.g. "Fighting Force"), related characters, or I flat out made them up. Regardless, it should be easy to find whichever song you please as they are ordered in more or less the same order in which they play in-game.

Hope some here can enjoy this. Been a fan of this game and OST myself for quite some time and only recently had the means to extract it and I hope once and for all this music can slide into a more public light, as it deserves :)

YOU ARE AMAZING! *HUG*

I would've never thought to get this soundtrack complete and in such a good quality! Really, thank you!
