Does anyone know the "appropriate" thread to post and ask for cracks and information for MS OS Vista???
If this IS the appropriate way, then does anyone know if newer patches have been made for running FINAL FANTASY VII on Vista and also for adjusting the resolution???
Please list the links, if so.
Thanks
Zachron

...That is all? Does the game install? This is a Compatibility issue, not a gameplay issue. Still belongs in the TECHNICHAL SUPPORT FORUM... which I've just now noticed has been acrchived and locked... Oops. Still you've stated your question in a more appropriate manner, namely you've actually clarified what exactly you wanted. Backwards compatibility with Vista is very iffy, and patching any operating system can be problematic. My suggestion is fucking get rid of Vista and put a real operating system on your computer... but if that's not possible, then you can always play with the compatibility settings once you have the programed installed. Navigate to the directory that the game is installed to, right-click the icon for the executible and select properties, click the compatibility tab, click on advanced options, then set emulation mode to Win95 or Win98... If that's not available in Vista, then fucking get rid of Vista and get a better OS, like I don't know, DOS. lol. Now the Emulation features don't always work, so if it doesn't work on the first try, play around with settings until you either get satisfactory results, or get totally pissed off, and get rid of fucking Vista. Actually patching Vista, should be a last resort. You may end up fucking your OS up making your MS Vista able to play old games but not do much else. There are Window Emulators out there also. I don't know if there is a Win98 emulator for Vista or not, but they exist for Linux. And yes, I know how fucking insane that sounds, having to operate a Windows emulator on a Windows machine, but that might just be what it takes. Google Search for it, try a more Technichally oriented forum perhaps. Patches and stuff will be more prevalent in Tech oriented forums, than Game oriented forums.
Are you able to get the game to install? If you can't install it, none of what I've said, other than getting rid of fucking Vista, will really help.

hello, this is my first post :)
I GOT VISTA. (i know...)
i downloadet ffvii for pc.
i burned the files on four discs:
-install
-disc1
-disc2
-disc3
i insalled the game and started it.
blackscreen, so i pressed a mousebutton.
after that, there appears the menu. --> New Game, Load Game
ive chosen "New Game" ... blackscreen again, but now the mouseclick changes nothing... it wont go on, from there on... only blackscreen.
so i tried "right-click the icon for the executible and select properties, click the compatibility tab, click on advanced options, then set emulation mode to Win95 or Win98"
again mousklick to appear the menu, again New Game... and again blackscreen;;
youve got any ideas?
i want to play this so hard (>**)>
i mean... if there appears the menu this should work huh?

Has anyone gotten YAMAHA SoftSynthesizer S-YXG70 that comes with the FFVII install disc to work under Windows XP/Vista? I don't care much for the game, but I really liked the sound of this synthesizer. I'll even upload it for anyone who asks. I've tried the Win95 compatibility option for the setup, and it begins to install, but it gets stuck when it begins to copy the files. =\

I am running on XP also but havent had any such trouble running the game.Whatever you do don't download the xp compatibility patch. It is known to cause more problems than it fixes.

This should have the answers on how to fix your game and maximize the resolution. I'd advise the music mod too so you don't have to listen to the ringtone versions(midi) of the original playstation music.
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=5105.0 strongly recommend this brilliant mod which increases the poly count on all of the playable characters and a large amount of NPCs so they no longer look like lego.
So yes, there is a patch to make this game good.

perhaps you didn't install the truemotion 2.0 codec? search it in google ad you'll find it...
about the yamaha synthesizer, well, actually it wouldn't be advisable to install the yamaha synthesizer, directshow and directx in the FF7 discs. it's already so old that if you install it, it may actually overwrite the much-newer versions of directx and directshow in vista. about the yamaha, its audio codec should already be integrated with windows, i think, because i can still use yamaha in my XP without installing it.
