Afternoon folks,
I'd quickly like to ask those folks who've been through all or most of the Final Fantasy series from right back then to the present day a few questions for the purpose of a peice of work I'm putting together. Your responses are appreciated.
With regard to races (kinds of creatures/beings accross the Final Fantasy universe), which do you feel are the most influential, charasmatic, individual, lethal, or particularly outstanding in another way? Please could you state the race/s and a breif why?
If you were to pick one or two places from any of the series as the most integral to a plot line, or most important for other reasons, or perhaps one of particular beauty which would it be?
If you were asked to narrow the vast number of summons/GF's in Final Fantasy down to a select few which would you choose and why?
If you were to create your own Final Fantasy game based on your own ideas which game would stand out as the best template in terms of battle system and character familiarity/plot absorbtion, which would it be and, again a very breif explanation or more is appreciated?
Thank you in advance.
Jarosik.

Pretty please?
Sorry, I have not played enough games to give an honest answer

Well, the only race that most FFs focus on is the human race. However, there are also other races in other FFs such as the Ronso race, and the Guado race from FFX. There's also the Viera in FFXII. FFXI has a lot of races, but I can't really say anything about that since I have never played the game.
So the human race with magical powers are the ones that stands out to me most, since it's the race that FF has used for many years. The Human race are beautiful in appearance(check Tidus' muscles omg). They are also capable of many jobs, such as the white mage or warrior.
If you were to pick one or two places from any of the series as the most integral to a plot line, or most important for other reasons, or perhaps one of particular beauty which would it be?
Zanarkand from FFX - not the ruins, but the very first area Tidus was in. The city lights are very pretty and makes it stands out, and you can definitely create numerous stories in the big area.
If you were asked to narrow the vast number of summons/GF's in Final Fantasy down to a select few which would you choose and why?
Anima and Yojimbo from FFX - those two are not like any other summon in any FF I had played. They have a wonderful, yet mysterious summoning sequence. Besides, their powers are truly strong.
If you were to create your own Final Fantasy game based on your own ideas which game would stand out as the best template in terms of battle system and character familiarity/plot absorbtion, which would it be and, again a very breif explanation or more is appreciated?
None, really. If I were to create my own Final Fantasy, I would insert more serious and realistic(in terms of situations and background) characters. I would talk about a war where its problems are parallel to our world. The main characters would have heartbreaking backgrounds such as losing family to a war, or being raped by the soldiers to create more children.
But the battle system of FFX would definitely work for me. It's not fast-paced, and requires strategy.

I've played I-IX so I might give it a try.

Yui sort of covered this better than I could. The humans are pretty outstanding because of all of their different abilities, personalities and locations. The dwarves from IX stood out for me a bit as well. They all seemed to have vibrant personalities and they genuinally (sp) seemed like real people (if you get what I mean).
If you were to pick one or two places from any of the series as the most integral to a plot line, or most important for other reasons, or perhaps one of particular beauty which would it be?
Altair from II (I think it was Altair - it was the city with the rebel hideout) was quite influential and vital to the plot. You had to return there loads to get new information from Hilda and there was usually always something going on there. Esthar from VIII stood out as well, it was quite a beautiful and interesting place. There were tons of futuristic devices and it was really huge and fun to explore.
If you were asked to narrow the vast number of summons/GF's in Final Fantasy down to a select few which would you choose and why?
Probably Ifrit, Ramuh, Shiva and Bahamut. I feel these best represent the series in terms of summons - I think they've all appeared in each game with summons after II (with the exception of Ramuh in VIII).
If you were to create your own Final Fantasy game based on your own ideas which game would stand out as the best template in terms of battle system and character familiarity/plot absorbtion, which would it be and, again a very breif explanation or more is appreciated?
I think IXs character set would probably be the best template - they were all quite interesting and quirky and most of their personalities seemed very real (e.g Zidane's womanising, Eiko's bubbliness). For plot absorbtion - probably VII, it felt like they went into quite a lot of detail explaining parts of the story and it was quite absorbing. I suppose if I were to create my own FF game I would go for the lighthearted appearance of IX and V but with a VI style storyline - quite compelling and sinister.

Moogles, because they just rule. Appearence-wise, the FFXII moogles have to be the cutest things ever seen on a console game. Ever.
If you were to pick one or two places from any of the series as the most integral to a plot line, or most important for other reasons, or perhaps one of particular beauty which would it be?
Balamb garden, I suppose. The entire plot of FFVIII has a direct link with it, so in terms of being integral to a plot line, they don't come much more integral than that.
In terms of beauty-Bevelle from FFX. Shame you can't explore it properly.
If you were asked to narrow the vast number of summons/GF's in Final Fantasy down to a select few which would you choose and why?
Bahamut, Odin, Alexander and Valefor. The first three are classic FF summons, Valefor, well, I just liked the design.

This is a difficult question to answer because I like different things about each game. My overall favourite is FFX, but other parts of various FFs have been done better than in FFX. If I could combine the best aspects of each FF, I'd take FFX-2's battle system, FFX's template for character design and development (though obviously not the exact same characters), FFIX's sense of humour, FFVII's array of mini-games and FFXII's vast array of optional bosses and side quests.

Here's two parts, I might get edit this later and add other things.
Races:
Moogles and Chocobos always stick out in my mind first with Viera probably coming in as third. Moogles are all around cool looking creatures that are also good comic relief or just create a joyful mood when they are around.
Chocobos, they are sort of neutral creatures that only help to get around. The design they have seems to be a combination of real life creatures that when combined together seems to make something that looks good without being too fantasyish.
Viera to me are pretty much humans with bunny ears. In XII they were sort of attractive in 3D and had what only looked to be female Viera making you wonder some things. But besides that, in Tactics they reminded me more of elves with there bow and arrows. Elves, of course are well known fantasy people and they share a lot in common with Viera. Like living mainly in a forest setting.
Summons:
Well other people said Ifrit and Shiva already but I'll say it too because they are both two sort of opposite elemental summons. Although I don't use them much they represent two common elements in nature of strong power. Bahamut is also a must choose because how he is. Pretty much a giant dark dragon with an incredible attack. He's pretty much the quintessence of a dragon in my opinion.
Thank you Yui, you're a star.
no problem =)
