Hi guys,
Does anybody have the OST(s) of Steel Angel Kurumi? (Toshihiko Sahashi -the first series particularly but any at all would be great.)

And, because I'm desperate, I'll cry out again for GIANT ROBO OSTs 3 and 5! ;)

Thanks :)

I don't have OST, just only 2 songs and 2 karaoke version tracks.

( Download Here (http://www.badongo.com/file/5162666) ) Enjoy it!

Thanks for this! I literally have been looking all over the internet for this damn song! IT'S FRICKING AWESOME!!

Honestly, once I learned the lyrics, I would always sing along! It's that addictive!

There is one more thing I would like to see, if possible: is the CD single for Kiss Kara Hajimaru Miracle Mark II (Steel Angel Kurumi 2's theme) out there somewhere?

Thanks again!

I've just been reading your previous posts, Dannyfrench, and what do I see? You requested Steel Angel Kurumi?

Toshihiko Sahashi is probably one of my five favourite composers, and I've been collecting his scores since 2 years ago. Of course I own the one you wish, and if you haven't it already, I'll post it with pleasure.

Ohhh, you are a great guy!

I eventually managed to find the score for the first series for sale - so I had it imported.

I'm still waiting for the two CDs from the second series (Play Asia are buggering about with shipping details and I have been waiting for two months now) but from what I know of the series, there isn't much (any?) orchestral stuff in there? Are the production values as good as in the original series? That was one of the largest orchestras Sahashi has ever used in a TV show and it really shows.

I'd really really appreciate an upload of these if you could spare the time - thank you very much.

It's nice to know another Sahashi fan - I'm attempting to get hold of everything of his I can find. I'm more interested in the orchestral music than in the poppy rocky stuff, but I'll try anything once.

I've recently got into his scores for live action drama - they have a lot in common with his anime work. Do you know Swan No Baka or Shikaotoko Aoniyoshi? (2007 and 2008 respectively - very fine, big orchestral scores...)

:)

[Edit: I have manufactured a Sahashi Orchestral Compilation CD. I might upload it tonight if I remember. Think you might be interested? It's about 80 mins of nothing but symphonic Sahashi.]

I didn't know these. If you have them could do an upload please? Sahashi's ochestral scores are really something.

The Steel Angel Kurumi ost I have is this one :

Catalog Number : PCCG-00532
Manufacturer : Pony Canyon
Series : Koutetsu Tenshi Kurumi
Printing Date : 2000-04-19
Price : Y3,000
Play Time : 126:49
Number of Discs : 2

Tell me if you have it.

You really like suites, don't you? I personnaly prefer to listen to each track individually and closely in order to be penetrated by its mood and message. But thanks for your proposal.

May I ask you what are your favourite Sahashi's scores or pieces of music?

Sure, it'd be a pleasure. Might take a day or so - have family issues to attend to at the moment.

That's the one I have - from the first series. Many thanks for your offer though. :)

You really like suites, don't you? I personnaly prefer to listen to each track individually and closely in order to be penetrated by its mood and message. But thanks for your proposal.

I do enjoy suites an awful lot, because my main musical interest is classical - I like something lengthy, continuous, and symphonically structured. I find - particularly in the realms of anime - a great many disposable tracks (synth, metal, guitars, etc, etc) that distract me from the orchestral pieces. I relish the opportunity to have an uninterrupted experience that incorporates the highlights - I guess it helps me appreciate it more as a piece of music, and less as a collection of film cues.

There isn't much to gain by listening to a CD from start to finish, as they are often out of sequence, and comprise a vast amount of styles - and a great deal of filler cues that don't really achieve anything musically. I think it's more important to listen in a way that helps you understand the overall arc - see how the composer is telling the story, notice how he is varying and developing themes, etc.

Particularly with anime scores, you get endless tracks which last 50 seconds, a minute, two minutes, and then it's over. So many of them go together so intuitively and they start to work like symphonies

I do understand your preference, of course - and I am a regular start-to-finish listener. When you say "Mood and message" agree, but I find I get those things much more clearly from the general tone of a score than from the tracks individually. A sensitive, continuous presentation of themes in a symphonic style really helps me to understand and appreciate these things a great deal more.

My Sahashi compilation isn't a suite - it's a collection of individual cues from various series. I created it mainly so I could give it to people and let them have a taste of what Sahashi is about. Time and time again, people won't try something new because they don't know what to expect, and they won't expend a lot of effort trying to find out. If I can slap one CD down in front of them and get them to play it, they get an instant, very clear picture of whether they like it or not, and whether it's worth them becoming better aquainted.

I find it a particularly good listen.

People enjoy things in different ways. :)

As for my favourite Sahashi, I'm particularly fond of Simoun, Gundam Seed, and Gundam Seed Destiny. He seems to have sleepy days and very alert days - I do enjoy the sleepy stuff, but when he's in that kind of completely over-the-top orchestral bombast mode I find it really magnificent.

Also good are his Ultraman scores (2008's Ultra Daikaiju Battle is wonderful).

I will have a more in-depth think about this and let you know some other favourites. :)

What do you like?

In fact I have exactly the same point of view, but I wasn't calling it suite, that's all!

When I have an ost, I listen to each track and I simply remove the ones I dislike (synth, pop, over-experimental, ultra-ambient... that kind of stuff), like what I did with Folk's score when I removed the songs. My objective is to be able to listen to the whole score from A to Z without having to pass a track or being bothered by a barely listenable one. Usually I only keep an average 50% of an anime ost. I sometimes even rearrange the tracks in order to have something more narrative, as if the music was telling a story on its own.

I understand that your Sahashi compilation is a sort of promo CD, and thus it's only meant for newbies and not for long time fans as me.

First time I heard his music was in a game : Blue Stinger (incredible for a game!). Then I heard Hunter x Hunter and was fascinated by some tracks, then I started to collect his various scores. My favourites are Simoun, Black Blood Brothers, Full Metal Panic!, The Big O and both symphonic suites with the LSO. But I still haven't listened to all I have!

What I find remarquable in his music is that sometimes when you listen to it you have the impression that it's an instant classic, as if you've already heard it since years (and not because it's copied!). John Williams must be the only other composer that gives me this impression.

I am really sorry in advance for those who hate 18 month old threads being dug up! But I have been searching for the Steel Angel Kurumi soundtrack (Not the second one) but the one with catalouge ID PCCG-00532 / PCCG-670

I can't buy it from the 1 place that I have found selling it (Amazon JP) because I don't have a Mastercard/Visa, nor does it say on the website whether or not they ship to Australia. Nowhere in Australia is selling it and I have been looking for it for nearly 2 months solid now.
Can anyone help me out by uploading it or something? I am after track 24 (未知の力 - Unknown Power) in particluar but there are a handful of others I'd love to have as well although I do not know the numbers off the top of my head. I'm only after the first disc of the soundtrack.

Thanks a billion in advance to anyone who can upload it or help me find somewhere I can get it. (Online purchases are pretty much impossible for me)

I'm afraid there's a bit of a queue with uploads at the moment, but I should get to this probably in 24 hours.

I'll upload 24 individually as well.

What is -V0? But yes I would be anyway (I LOVE watching and listening to Steel Angel Kurumi)

It's a higher bitrate (quality) mode in the MP3 encoder known as "LAME" - it uses a technique called Variable Bitrate; the encoder can vary the bitrate dynamically throughout the track, so sonically "uncomplicated" music can be given less bitrate because it's easy to encode, and more complicated moments can be given more, because it's harder.

Overall it provides a higher quality encode.

I'll put my rip up too; can't hurt to have two different versions of the same thing floating around... maybe between us we can end the rarity of SAK on the web! :)

TOSHIHIKO SAHASHI: Steel Angel Kurumi (Series 1, Disc 1)

http://uploadmirrors.com/download/RDVKZJUC/TS-SAKS1D1.part1.rar
http://uploadmirrors.com/download/DFAH1ZJX/TS-SAKS1D1.part2.rar

Disc 2 and scans coming up later. :)

Edit: Disc 2

http://uploadmirrors.com/download/0DTIMBHP/SAWTS-SAKS1D2.rar

(Note: Disc 2 is mainly crap to be honest - there's a few fun songs at the beginning, but most of it is a particularly dire radio drama [in Japanese, of course] and seventeen little (10 seconds or so) bridge/eyecatch cues. Basically the leftovers that really didn't need to be released, but the record company were after "bonus" (read: shite) material to justify jacking up the price and making it a two disc set! Oh yeah, and there's a 34 second orchestral version of Kiss Kara Hajimaru Miracle (just one statement of the theme and a flourish) that's rousing.)

Big freakin' thanks tango! These links have to be the only links to this score on the internet. I can't find any place to buy it either. :p

The 3 years of searching was absolutely worth it, especially after hearing a cue from this score in your Sahashi compilation! Phenomenal! :D
