My two favorite Final Fantasy games, and perhaps my two favorite games of all time are without doubt FFIX and FFV. I don't know what it is about FFV, but I love everything about it. From the characters (Reina/Lenna is my favorite character, like, ever!) to the classic storyline.

I thought the game was so funny at times, and especially Faris and her little secret, and how they all freak when they learn about her secret. xD

Let's discuss FFV's humor, shall we?

I really like all the witty dialogue used in the game. I still never beat it but I was playing it again (THAT is until Persona 3 came out). I'll probably go back and finish it at a later date.

Faris' secret was funny. I also really love the music. It really went well with everything. But dare I say it? A remake would be awesome. Like better sprites and maybe some character portraits added on.

Yeah, the dialogue was pretty witty at times.

A remake? How about the recent one for the Advanche? It's a "new" script", and tons of extra features.

I don't remember it being particularly funny. I'm sure it tried though.

Oh? I didn't know about that. Certainly looks nice. I played the PSX version...with cut scenes...well not many. Actually I don't remember any at all. I gotta double check if there were any besides the opening FMV.

One of the scenes I found funniest was when they all got dumped into a dungeon sort of area and Galuf was wasn't together with them and they started to leave him behind.

Also when Butz and Cara were trapped and Faris kept teasing with the rope.

Same here, I'm afraid.

Ahh, see, I missed that part.

I bought two copies of the Advance version, and it allegedly have some modern day references. Does anyone know what these are? I have yet to play the game, as I'm in the middle of FFVI Advance.

Is Advance spelled Advanche in Europe?

Honest question.

well man, thanks to you, and this thread it inspired me to get final fantasy v .

Well so far it's ok it is kind of funny with the dialogue, i've noticed a couple of translation errors ~ _ ~

the battle system is pretty slick, but damn this ff is harder than the others, I fuckin have to grind before every boss fight even though I think im like way ahead, apparently not.

The only thing I dont like is how the story is so far, it's going so quick and really there isn't a story, we are defending crystals that seem to inevitably shatter, wtf? Story so far is buggin me, hopefully it goes up.

Oh, and wtf is up with stealing in this game? I've used faris and butz as theives and they can never steal shit, is it harder to do that in this game or what?

Yes. Stealing is a bitch, and I've given up on that. As far as the story goes; it is a classic Final Fantasy tale.

The game may not have the most exciting story, but you gotta love the characters. Faris has become a legend among Final Fantasy fans, and Lenna is my all-time favorite character.

The most exciting thing about Final Fantasy is without the Job system. The system allows you to built a character, and it's so much fun to have a Knight who knows "Jump" and can heal at the same time.

That's classic FF for you, Cloud>Everyone. If, as I'm guessing from your avatar, you've only played VII and above, you'll find that the older games generally tend to be more difficult.

As for the plot --- I've read a lot of complaints about it, but I do have to say that it does pick up at least to some degree.

Yea, I've beaten VI, and have played the older ones too, never beat them though.

I understand now all the ff games work so, the only difference is that the older ones generally dont give you a set guideline, your never forced to go anywhere.

Well, the name Butz it's funny just for it self XD

But yeah, the man/woman secret thing was funny, tho.

Well, iirc the name Butz is unofficial. Remember that FFV was never released in english for the SNES officially - it was fan translated. I recall that the official release for the PSX has the name as Bartz. Not sure about the Advance version, Haven't tried it.

Yeah, Butz is unofficial. I could be wrong, though (I can check it easily if anyone really wants me to) but I believe the PSX version doesn't specify a default name and leaves it to you to put in any name you want.

It's kind of funny how fast you recruit all your party members. It's like

"Hey guys...the world is in danger. Wanna save it?"

"OK!"

Of course there is more to it...but yea that was quick.
