I brought FF 1 for the PSP a few days ago and i'm completely stuck :(

I just got the second crystal (the fire one) and when i came out of it started flying around with the airship. I went through "the hellfire chasm" and it was really weird. Every time you wentup te stairs in there you ended up at a completely different place in the cave but th stairs had vanished and there was NO WAY BACK!

So i carried on walking around aimlessley and found the way out. (after aaaaages) but now i seem to be going in circles around this little bit or island... it's so weird.

I can't get back to my airship as there is no ferry port there but my boat wont rech it anyays.. It just circles around the island now :(

I know i usually circles the whole map but now its doing that just with this one little island near the hellfire chasm!

Has my game glitched or is it part of the storyline? PLEASE HELP?

I sincerely thank you if you can..

ahhhh i know go to the oasis on that floor via the boat and you have to use the levistone at the tree there onwards from there you take the airship and go to the little cave like entrance and judging where u are in the game i doubt you'll be able to beat rubicante or barbaricia/valvalis i took me a while as well

LOL! Sorry for laughing, but that's just too funny. You aren't actually *out* of Hellfire Chasm. That dungeon is one of four "bonus" dungeons that make up the Soul of Chaos. They were added in Dawn of Souls and appear to be in the PSP version as well. Here's how they work:

The Earthgift Shrine, Hellfire Chasm, Lifespring Grotto and Whisperwind Cove are all optional. Going through them is not necessary to complete the game. Very good weapons and equipment can be had, and you can fill out your bestiary and get a bit more of a challenge than the main game provides, but that's it. There's no other reason to go in there and the NES and PSX versions didn't even feature the Soul of Chaos.

They're random. Not that the floors are randomly generated, but which ones you go through and the order in which you do so is randomized. The Earthgift Shrine (in Cornelia) has five floors and an FFIII theme. Hellfire Chasm, in the Cardian Isles (that's where you are) has ten floors with FFIV bosses. The Lifespring Grotto is in the ocean whirpool near Melmond. That has twenty floors and bosses from FFV (including Omega and Shinryu, by far the hardest enemies you will encounter). Finally, Whisperwind Cove is accessed by canoe via the network of rivers you used to get to Mt. Gulg and the Ice Cavern. It has forty floors and bosses from FFVI. To face all the bosses, you'll need to go through the Earthgift Shrine four times, Hellfire Chasm and the Lifespring Grotto twice; while, mercifully, you can get everything through one bout of spellunking in Whisperwind Cove.

Some of the floors in Hellfire Chasm and Whisperwind Cove are "world map" floors. They're disguised to look like the overworld but, like everything in the Soul of Chaos, it's just an illusion. Notice how you can run and open chests and talk to giant NPCs? You can't normally do that. So you're not actually out of the dungeon, you're on one of the overworld floors. To get to the next floor, you need to find a hole in the ground. And no, your game is not glitching. Due to the random configuration of the SoC, you can't go up to previous floors and Teleport doesn't work either. I don't know why Exit doesn't work, since the *item* that casts Exit still works.

Anyway, if you give up, just die. Nothing in the SoC is real, so if your party gets wiped out, it's not game over. You just get sent back to the surface.

oh, thats such a good idea making the overworld a level in a dungeon LMAO. Thank goodness my game isn't glitching. I efinately couldn't be botheed to do all that again.

Thank you so much of the help! I DIED SO MANY TIMES BUT I EXPECTED IT TO GO TO GAMEOVER SO I RESETTED IT STRAIGHT AWAY, lmao. how stupid was that?!

But now i'm finally ot *phew* :D

Thank you soooo much! :)
