So I just got Odin Sphere the other day. My first impressions have been "Holy Shit! Where did this game come from!? It's freaking gorgeous!". So beyond first impression the game has a pretty good sound track so far and the graphics look like they are from an anime style picture book like those old golden book fairy tales. The gameplay is intuitive but it's strange. This is obviously a RPG but it's a 2d game that plays similar to the old Mana game. This one has to be seen in order to fully understand what I'm talking about here.

Has anyone else played this game yet? I have just started so I don't know much about the game yet so I was wondering if anyone else has had any experiences with the game.

I keep hearing good things about this game. I'm not sure if I should get it though. If it's a fairly long game, I'll consider it.

Hell I might even buy it tomorrow. It keeps looking at me.

Despite all the hype, I haven't really been interested in getting it.

I'm just picturing this extremely linear game with a simple combat system, and while I'm an old gamer and love 2D, I think the graphics are getting way overhyped as well.

Just my thoughts. I'm sure I'll get around to trying it someday, and maybe I'll change my mind then.

I haven't heard much hype, except a few things here and there, so I looked it up. It looks like a blast, but that's based on a really uninformed opinion. Its good to hear better things about it. Maybe when I've got some more cash, I'll pick it up.

I haven't heard shit from people, but gaming websites and stuff are giving it high scores. I think it got a 10/10 in some magazine and they said it's the 'perfect game'. I downloaded it and burned it to a dvd. So far, it's pretty cool. But Xbox Live has a big hold on me right now. When I go to college in August, I'll be able to play those games and shit (no internet access in the dorms due to people downloading shit and using up bandwidth).

I got it.

The graphics are pretty trippy but it works pretty well so far. The battle system is definitely different from any other Atlus game I've played, or GAME...period.

It looks promising. I'm not disappointed yet.

I've seen it in a review in the Tech section pullout of a local paper the other day. The reporter cites it as weird, like watching a bunch of Primary 1 (First grade) kids putting on Hamlet as a class play. Says that the cutesy artwork plus violence and serious story makes for a strange combo, plus the characters all somewhat speak in a high-pitched voice typical of Japanese anime. Still, it was a pretty positive review. I might look into trying it sometime.

I'm surprised the reporter had not contrast it to Happy Tree Friends.

I'm interested in this game, I could play it possibly. I don't think I have time though. I need to finish Final Fantasy XII(maybe 40 more hours of sidequests) by August 28th when Blue Dragon comes out for Xbox 360. I want to beat Rogue Galaxy(60 more hours?) by that time but it may not be necessary and I may not have enough time. I could start Blue Dragon while I am playing Rogue Galaxy. I wanted to have beaten Alundra 1 by the time Blue Dragon comes out but there may not be time. After Blue Dragon I will play Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and Lost Odyssey I believe. Mass Effect was delayed until January. :)

I stopped playing it at the 3rd character's scenario. You pretty much play the same areas with each character. Just some minor differences with plot. Like the Boss would be different and of course the cutscenes would be too. Good game, just not one I can play for extended periods of time.

I don't really get why it got such great reviews though...maybe deserved like a 7 or 8 out of 10. Maybe the detail is what earned it that review score, because it is pretty detailed and precise in storyline (no plotholes, so far).

It could be that it's very different that most of what is being released/has been released as of this time in the gaming world.

My only big issue is the fucking laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag...

Yes fucking lag. I hate to say it but I probably won't be playing this game again for a while. I think so far the whole "Mercedes" character is a bitch to play as. It doesn't help that I don't particularly care for her or her storyline. Wish I could choose characters I want to play as instead of having to unlock them one by one. But I think I'm just being picky...maybe...but that's what I think.

I haven't beaten Val yet, i've been leveling the hell up and trying to buy as many dinners as possible.

Yea dinners...I didn't really bother with that...atleast not with Val-storyline. I kinda breezed through it and just replayed some of the older stages. Once you get that spell that increases your power it's all down hill IMO.

But yea I might have to treat that stupid ho Mercedes to dinner so she won't be such a pain in the ass to play as.

BTW: So far the 2nd character/storyline is the best. So you have something to look forward to...I guess.

yeah i don't like mercedes's gameplay either...
but my worst is pooka prince boo
still h8 him and forever will.
as far as dinners are concerned i prefer finishing the story then playing from the beginning while retaining my lvls'n'items, that is just too cool(enemies at first ''dungeons'' are like 1-hit lol xD
