Angela Aki (アンジェラ・アキ Anjera Aki), born on 15 September 1977 in Itano, Tokushima Prefecture, Shikoku, Japan, to a Japanese father and an Italian-American mother, is a Japanese singer-songwriter. Her former Japanese real name is Aki Kiyomi
Angela Aki is completely bilingual in English and Japanese as she was raised in Japan, but moved to Hawaii at the age of fifteen where she graduated from Iolani School. From there she moved on to George Washington University where she graduated with majors in politics and music.
She originally released an indie album in the United States in 2000, called These Words, which received much critical acclaim. In 2002 she composed two tracks for "Let It Fall" by Dianne Eclar, a teenage pop singer from the Philippines. In 2005 in Japan, she released an indie mini-album under Virgo Music entitled ONE, which alerted Nobuo Uematsu to her music. Angela Aki is now signed under Sony Japan. In 2005 she was announced as the singer of the Final Fantasy XII theme song, "Kiss Me Good-Bye".
On March 9, 2007, she revealed in her official blog that she is married to a music director who has been supporting her before her debut. She also revealed that while she was in Washington D.C., she had married once before but the marriage ended in a divorce.
She is good friends with JPOP star Yuna Ito. Both singers attended the same Japanese language school.
Angela Aki is the daughter of Kiyoshi Aki, the owner/co-founder of AEON Institute of Language Education. This is one of the "Big Four" Eikaiwa (English conversation) schools in Japan

"Kokoro no Senshi" (心の戦士) is the second Japanese single by Angela Aki. It was released on January 18, 2006, reached #9 on the Oricon Daily Charts, and #13 on the Weekly Chart. It features the Final Fantasy VIII theme song "Eyes on Me" by Faye Wong and "TODAY", a Smashing Pumpkins cover.
In an Excite Japan interview, Aki reports composer Nobuo Uematsu as saying her version 'shed light on "Eyes on Me"'.

Kiss Me Good-Bye

"Kiss Me Good-Bye" is the theme song of Final Fantasy XII, and is the third Japanese single by Angela Aki. The only vocal piece in the game, it was set to tunes composed by Nobuo Uematsu, arranged by Kenichiro Fukui and produced by Motoki Matsuoka. The single was released by Sony in Japan on March 15, 2006 bearing the catalogue number ESCL-2810. A limited edition was also released bearing the catalog number ESCL-2808 featuring a DVD containing the Kiss Me Good-Bye video clip which included both shots of Aki performing the single (with special effects art) and clips from the video game. The song peaked at number six on the Oricon charts.
Unlike the previous games, the theme song is sung in English in both the Japanese and North American versions of the game. The version featured on the CD single has a slightly different arrangement and Japanese lyrics; however, the English version that was featured in the game is included as a bonus track. On May 16 of 2006, Aki released an English version of the single as a digital EP under the title "Kiss Me Good-Bye [EP]" in North America through Tofu Records.
The single also features a cover of the song "Whiter Shade of Pale" titled Aoi Kage (青い影, Aoi Kage? lit. "Pale Shade").

Sakura iro (サクラ色)

Sakura iro (サクラ色) is the fifth Japanese single by Angela Aki. It was released on March 7, 2007 and revealed for the first time in her one-man live at Nihon Budokan in December 2006. The song reflects her missing Japan while she was studying in Washington DC. The single is released in CD+DVD and CD-only formats. It sold 29,948 copies in its first week. To date, it has sold 103,176 copies

Kodoku no Kakera (孤独のカケラ)

Kodoku no Kakera (孤独のカケラ) is the sixth Japanese single by Angela Aki. It was released on May 23, 2007. The single will only be released as a standalone CD. Two music videos exist for this single, the first being a cut from her My Keys Tour, while the second being an actual music video where she plays piano set atop a clock tower.
