He was a chump, but I think he's one of the few villains that actually got close to, or completed his vision of really fouling up the world.

yes he did get closer than others, he was annoying at times with the way he talked, but did get close too accomplishing what he set out to do

Yeah. Kuja did a pretty good job of it as well and XDeath didn't do a half-bad job either. Oh --- and then there's Vayne Solidor from FFXII --- he never exactly intended on destruction, but he certainly got what he wanted for a while --- power.

Actually, Vayne/Venat unequivocally *did* accomplish what he set out to do. He just didn't know it. For better or for worse, the Occuria no longer serve as the gods of Ivalice.

*minor spoiler alert*

Kefka did rearrange the face of the planet. Perhaps I'm a chump at heart, but that scores some serious bad-ass points for me. The fact that he was dressed in a way that could be construed as "clownish" is icing on the cake.

And come on, you don't mean to tell me that you didn't hate him after what he does in Thamasa? (see below)

(Spoiler)

*Spoiler*
When you're about to establish peace with the Espers, then he appears and kills all the espers, takes the magicite, and kills General Leo, who turned out to be a pretty cool character?

Not to mention what CyanCyde said.

Oh, of course! But what really made me hate him was when I was trying to find and talk to all the soldiers during the timed event, and talked to him in his prison cell and he started going off on some big long rant, running down my clock! Damn him! j/k :D

Kefka was and still is The most Insane Villian Final Fantasy has choked up, Seporoth was an idiot who was being a mommas boy to the wrong momma, Kuja was a living doll playing to his masters strings, Yu-yevon was just a ball of dumb. but Kekfa was a normal guy, who Killed and scrapped for his power.

(spoiler)

and at the peak of his power as he controlled the world with his light of Judgement he tells the Heroes that his ultimate goal is to destroy all that lives and create a monument to Nothingness

(end Spoiler)
now THAT is one messed up guy, and I have yet to see a villian in the series that matches his M.O.
