Final Fantasy I is the same in both US and Japan

Final Fantasy II was not released in the US until FF Origins

Final Fantasy III was not released until the remake last year on DS

Final Fantasy IV was released as Final Fantasy II in the US

Final Fantasy V was not released in the US until FF Anthology

Final Fantasy VI was released as Final Fantasy III in the US

Final Fantasy VII onward are correctly numbered.

Yeah. Go with the GBA versions, unless you have a PSP and not a GBA. You can get I&II: Dawn of Souls and IV for GBA. Play III on a DS and you're set.

You've got a point, they are doing a IV remake on DS, so you could get I&II on PSP.

I don't know anything about the PSP versions, but the GBA versions (which are together on one cart) are excellent compared to the PSone ports. I'm not sure if they re-hauled the graphics for the PSP versions, I don't have a PSP and I doubt very highly that I ever will.

Remember that DS plays GBA games, so you're set no matter what you want to do, it seems.

yeah, personally i would rather play the psp ports (which i know have upgraded graphics). however - i want the true experience... so hopefully the core gameplay isnt changed.

If you really want the whole FF exp, I would suggest trying to find the original four for the gameboy, play FFmystic quest for snes and also tactics for the ps1,*havent played it for the GBA version yet, as for the FF3 on ds is it any good and worth the money, I have only played a emulated copy of the original.

You are aware that Tactics Advance isn‘t a port of Tactics for PSX right?

I have a question. I played one of the final fantasy's ages ago, on super nintendo. I think it was ff3, but there was a part in the game that had to do with a haunted train ride. I can't remember which game it is and it's driving me crazy. My husband bought me the final fantasy anthology, with ff VI and ff V, and also FF IV in the FF chronicals. Which one do i play for this game!? any help would be great..! thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, VI (correct me if I'm wrong, guys).

Flash Gordon is correct. Phantom Train is in VI (twice!) and is one of my favorite gaming moments/environment/characters of all time.
