At Trabia Garden there's a giant computer that a couple of guys are trying to fix..
When you approach and attempt to type on it, it comes up with what looks like a profile of Selphie. If she isn't in your party she comes running from no where and gets rid of it.
Is there something about her that we find out later in the game or is it just one of those random things that just happen?
I, being the sucky video game player that i am, haven't gotten past the first battle on disc 4 yet. Haven't played for a while...
Thanks guys..

Just FF randomness is all.

OMG I was about to put the same thing, there's something about Mary.... memories. FF just has weird things like that to make you think there's more behind it.

yeah i thought to go with that title to grab attention...
hmm, i thought it was one of those lame things just to make you think there was something behind it..
thanks for the reply :)

Hmmm, my first playthrough I spent like 2 hrs trying to see what was there.

Really?
There's so many things in that game that baffle me sometimes. Everytime you play it, you find something new or something you hadn't noticed before.
It sounds weird but I've got one game where I"ve just played Triple Triad for hours on end because i became obsessed with getting the character cards... And i got quite a few of them, some I'm still missing, but it's too long ago to remember what ones..
She might just not want them to see her grades, or her profile.
Trabia Garden Wiki, ftw. Agent might know. I feel like a putz for not knowing off hand, to be honest. Another playthrough is definitely on the cards, lads.

That's what i thought too..
One of the many FF mysteries i suppose..
One person's mystery is another's plot hole, but I'm very forgiving when it comes to VIII. Just don't be surprised if someone labels it as such ;)
I have to admit that for a text/number name, Selphie19 is very nice. Good, strong assonance with the long e's. I use Penelo11 for some things. Again, assonance but with short e's.
Welcome to the Shrine!

Its just one of those little things thrown in to add zing to a character. Plus it was where she was from, so she needs some kind of interactivity.

Thanks alot Knegative!
The name was kind of random, I love Selphie, she's an awesome character, a few friends say i remind them of her oddly, and I'm 19.. I made it so i could remember it :)
I also agree with you Chrissss about it adding zing to a character. If a character wasn't intriguing we wouldn't be drawn to them..

I also have another question....
This may sound a little stupid, but, do you guys know where the Master Fisherman is?
I've tried tracking him down, but I can't seem to find him...

You would have to remind me of what part of the game your talking about. I havent played in forever.

When you first arrive in FH, you talk to a little kid who nearly strangles an old man with his fishing line. He speaks of the Master Fisherman. I think he helps you obtain something that you need, i don't really remember..
Just need some help finding him... I think you run into FH about late disc 2, possibly disc 3? I haven't played in a while either..

I think it was right around where you first enter. There will be a way down from the crane you were on, then hes at the end of another crane. Hell give you a book or something, then ask you to find his pupil. Then theres alot of going back and forth, and I dont remember what its for. You could always look it up somewhere.

Ok, because i had a look around the crane for a while and i couldn't find another way around it, because i thought the same thing...
If i happen to get back on there I'll have a look.
Thanks for that, i appreciate it..

Just for the record, I don't know of anything else about this, so I would assume it's what you've all speculated.
As for the Master Fisherman, what Chrissss said, except if you're not still at that point in the game, I don't know if he'll still be there. I always went and found him right away.
May I ask you this? What exactly do you love about Selphie? Her character profile was wafer-thin and it did not get better as the game moved along. I am not dissing you, and if you love Selphie for whatever reason, that's cool too, but I just can't grasp what exactly it is. I knew nothing about Selphie when I started on the game, and I wasn't much wiser when the game had ended.
FFVIII was pretty much the Squall and Rinoa show. :(

I tried looking for him as soon as, and had no luck. If i happen to play again and i find him, hooray for me and life moves on...
As for liking Selphie, that's a choice of my own I suppose and I liked her personality. Whether she had some massive secret or not probably wouldn't have made any difference. She'll always be one of my favourites :)
A dear friend of mine looks and acts like her, if you crossed her with Penelo's seriousness at the right moments. It's a personal thing, I guess. She's a short spunky girl who kicks tons of ass. It's my thing.
VIII was also about Selphie and Irvine. It's all in who you identify with. I mean, sure they got less "screen time" but they were representative of other aspects of relationships that Squall and Rinoa couldn't actively embody.
Maybe I think about VIII too much :p

I've been told that i remind people of her, but i don't really think so.
I think I'm in the same boat as you, I think about it too much!
Hell yes she kicks ass. Who else randomly (and probably quite seriously) comes up with a solution of "blowing it to smithereens with a rocket launcher!"?
