Title: The Legend of Zelda--Twilight Princess
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo
Platform: GameCube/Wii
Composers: Toru Minegishi, Asuka Ota, Koji Kondo
Orchestral Pieces--Music by Mahito Yokota; Arranged by Michiru Oshima
While we continue to wait until the day when the official release to the soundtrack of Nintendo's latest installment in their beloved Zelda franchise, Twilight Princess, here's my personal attempt. All the tracks --save the two orchestral ones-- have received reverberation treatment to give the feeling that these pieces were performed in a concert hall, so as to make them not sound so flat. I've done the best I could to capture more tunes than most other attempts have done, but sadly there were some tracks that were impossible to record (the Boss Appears music pieces). Still, this is about as nearly complete and fulfilling as possible for the time being.
Note: This is an updated version of the rip, with many of the files that I could not officially capture the first time around. Most of them come from PrimeBlue's rip. Special thanks to him.
Update #2: The File Factory Files are gone, so I reuploaded it with Mutiupload. This time the format is for iPods; m4a. The tracklist is also in English AND Japanese.

This certainly has a great deal of improvement over the old OST.
While I can't say I approve of the reverberation treatment, a better encoding and recording job is definately what the other soundtrack needed and this is much appreciated.
Thank you.
Edit: Oh man, you started the songs so much more nicely. Plus you got Fayer's Cannon, I'm fairly sure that was missing in the older release. Though I'm still not liking the extra echo effect in some songs from the reverb treatment. I apologize if I sound rude or picky; This is still overall well appreciated.

This is wonderful! Thank you!

Thank you all for the compliments. It makes me feel gratified to have done this.
And Peppydude, yes, the Twilight Battle music IS included; it's track 29. (And yes, for those of you who are wondering, for the songs with "multiple" parts to them I seamlessly mixed them together, this track included.)

I have just mentioned this to TheHylia.
Heh heh,
You might wanna mention it to Galbadia Hotel's staff, because, let's face it, the current gamerip they have of TWILIGHT PRINCESS isn't up to par. No offense to whoever captured it in the first place, of course, but when I was editing those files, I had to sometimes go back into the game to record the intros and/or just do what I could to create a serviceable substitute for opening the tracks (since those intros were difficult to record without getting any sound effects in the way). Plus, each track just faded in, which I found annoying--regrettably, there are two tracks in my rip which stay that way (Twilight and Zora's Domain); I apologize for those, but I hadn't found a way to capture them music-less. Having it uploaded at Galbadia would be a real honor for me.
Once again, I am really quite delighted and surprised by the compliments on this page. I can't tell you how much it means to me that you liked this so much. Thank you all for the kind words! I really, really appreciate it! If there are any future rips I put up here, I'll do my best to make them as good as possible!!!
Thanks again!

Hi!
Does nobody have an Action Replay? There are already codes, which turns the sound effects off. So I think with these codes it would be much easier to record the intros of each song.

Sadly, even though this is close to as complete a collection as possible, there are still several tracks I missed, but mainly because all were impossible to record sans sound effects. Hopefully when Nintendo releases their official set in Japan all those tracks will be there. I haven't heard anything of Nintendo-related Wii soundtracks, but since the system is selling so well in Japan and TP is the third bestselling game in that country (despite Miyamoto and Aonuma's claim that it's a successful failure--it's a hit in the U.S., but in Japan it's slowly climbing to 500,000--hardly a failure in my eyes), I can't imagine Nintendo neglecting treatment to this game. Anyhow, the tracks that are missing on the album are as follows:
Summon Hawk
Mini-Game Win
Mini-Game Lose
Diababa Appears
King Boblin Prepares to Fight
Fyrus Appears
Morpheel Appears
Stallord Appears
Caught A Fish! Reel it In!
Blizzeta Appears
Armogohma Appears
Argorok Appears
I apologize for those missing tracks, but this is the best I could do for now. Until the official release comes, this'll just have to settle.

Yeah, but except the "Caught a Fish!" track I was talking about isn't a 10-second track. It's an actual song that plays when a fish snags Link's fishing rod. I regret I wasn't able to catch that sound-effect-less.
Yet another case where the official album release will rectify that.

I have a question. Why in some tracks there's two different boss.
Like the track 48, it said Diabala 1st and Stallord 1st. I don't get it.
EDIT: Oh! I think I got it! Isn't it the same music that plays in the battles?

Correct! This song plays when you battle Diababa and Stallord in their first forms. IOW, it's used twice in the game. (The same is true with the Morpheel music battle, hence why I subtitled it Argorok.)

Thank you very much, and I'm pretty sure we'll see the OST pretty soon (in spite of the fact that the game is struggling to reach 500,000 in Japan, Nintendo couldn't be that dissastisfied with its performance to push for a soundtrack album release IMO).

It's great how complete this is, but I don't suppose a version without the "reverberation treatment" exists. It's just that I'd like to have an unmodified version instead. Other than that, it's the best version so far.

It sounds good for some tracks, it sounds "unnatural" for others.
All in all, though, I find that one shouldn't alter the audio of a soundtrack in such a way. Fixing up some tracks as necessary is perfectly OK, but not using digital sound processors to try to make it sound better.
I first enjoyed the soundtrack in-game without the reverb, and that's how I [and some others] would prefer to listen to it now.
Nonetheless, your rip is quite comprehensive and much appreciated.

@JTurner: Hi! Is it possible to record "Taming Epona" again? Because you only recorded the music part which plays after Link fell off Epona due to the wrong-pressed controls. But the music which plays while you press the controls to tame Epona differs a bit from the one you have recorded. I think this part is the actually music. You hear extra instruments like drums and brasses what makes the music more powerful.
I noticed that while I played the "Taming Epona" part again.

Just one question, is it possible for you to record the intro to the Dark Lord Ganondorf track? That's all this really seems to be missing for me (unless it's really there and I'm not hearing it?).
You don't have to though if it's not possible or too much trouble.

Way to go, JTurner--what an awesome job! I noticed some things, though:
I loved how you incorporated the "boss weakness" theme into all the boss battle tracks. But you left that out in the final Ganondorf battle! There's a different kind of music that plays during the "Chance" part (when you have to press A really fast) and when Ganondorf is vulnerable that's not in the rip. Any chance of including that in the rip? I love that part! (Way to catch the Dark Beast Ganon warp portal part, though!)
In a similar vein, when you battle Diababa (second phase, I believe), there's a slightly different music that plays when Ook swings in to help you in a mini-cutscene.
Also, great job capturing the "prelude" in the enemy combat track. Could you perhaps include the finishing flourish at the end when Link destroys an enemy and the combat ends?
There are a couple wholesale tracks not in this rip that I was wondering if you were unable to include them or you can but just forgot? They are the Chudley's Emporium theme (the shop in Hyrule Castle Town before Malo Mart takes it over--sounds like elegant version of general shop theme). The other is the only cutscene BG music not in the audio stream. When Link and Midna first enter Faron Woods covered in Twilight near the beginning of the game, a different sort of music plays, a combo of Twilight theme with Midna's theme (I think)--plus, an echo of a Light Spirit song when Midna says, "that's the lamentation of a spirit that's lost its light" or something like that.
Could you add any of those to your already impressive rip? If not, that's okay! I figured I'd just take a shot. And I agree with most in the Zelda online world who've said your rip is about as good as we're going to get until Nintendo gets around to releasing the OST themselves. =0)

Oi, Sendspace. Get a move on, already.
Anyway, this sounds good. I might be trying to loop your Queen Rutela track, though. That song's too pretty for 44 seconds. It only plays once.
Thank you for posting this! Wonderful job.

I really, really wish I could've gotten all of those, but sadly, it was impossible to catch them sans sound-effects. The "Ganondorf Battle" Weakness Motif I couldn't record because there was no way I could hit the start button to bring up the menu during that crucial moment. The same is unfortunately true with the "ending portion" of the Combat Track.
As for those other missing tracks you described, I haven't found the slightest idea of how to record them without getting the sound effects in them, and so for that I apologize. I just haven't found a way.

No prob, man! I'm just glad that you thought of them, tried them, and only stopped when you couldn't. For less attentive persons, those musical parts wouldn't have even occurred to them. =)

Would it be possible for you to post the tracks into smaller files? My computer is just too slow to download it. With every file it says that it will take 10+ hours. If you could, would you half, or even better, quarter the size of each file? I've been downloading it for about 2 hours, and it is only at 7%.

If you load the music you record onto the computer, then online, i can help. There is a program I found called Audacity. It allows you to edit music you open it with. Try to start recording just before the peice you want, and you can just take out the part you don't want.
Edit: oops. Wrong quote. I meant Jturner:

Audacity isn't really the greatest audio editor heh but it works well. I'm sure JTurner is pretty aware of it, and others, since he added reverb to what he already has. Either way the sound effects are unavoidable, there really is nothing that can be done about it...although in my opinion they'd be better than nothing.

That would require a hella extensive upload. You're still going to spend the same amount of time downloading the discs anyway. It's the same amount of stuff, even if the zips of music are smaller. You can't really cut the file size either unless you want it encoded at a really low, crappy quality bitrate. Which you don't, trust me.

Yeah, I've tried Audacity and it isn't the greatest, is it free though, but I'll stick with the Wave editor that came packed-in when I bought my sound card.
Kinda funny, but I had my own strange way of recording music from "the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time". I would walk into a board and immediately pull out the ocarina and press whichever button to cancel it, I did that repeatedly and quickly so that the music wouldn't fade out, and it worked perfectly; No annoying voices or sound effects what-so-ever, it gets quite tedious though.
When recording music from a video game, any outside source really, try to change the setting in the sound card to record directly from that source (Line-in) which will most likely bypass all sound effects (reeverb, chorus, ect) produced by the sound card; giving you the clearest and most accurate recording you can get (other then directly ripping the songs from a CD).
If you're ripping music directly from a CD, try Exact Audio Copy (
http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) (scroll down to links). This is better then Windows media player, in my opinion. It removes much of the pops and clicks that come up in some CDs and allows you to save in various formats, like LAME format for MP3s (preserves higher quality audio while still maintaining good compression).
Well, I hope some of this information is useful.

I love this soundtrack. Thank you so much! =)
Just one question, is it possible for you to record the intro to the Dark Lord Ganondorf track? That's all this really seems to be missing for me (unless it's really there and I'm not hearing it?).
You don't have to though if it's not possible or too much trouble.
Thanks again for this wonderfull soundtrack! =)
No hope for my above question?
I'm just wondering. I hope I don't annoy anyone for asking again.
Again, love the soundtrack.

Wow, this sounds better then any soundtrack I've ever heard! It's not the music as much as it is the fact that it sounds so authentic through the reverb.
How on earth did you do that? The reverbing sounds better then from any program I've used.

Part 1 -- Tracks 1-70

Part 2 -- Tracks 71-132

Part 3 -- Tracks 133-182

I haven't done any ripping, but with all my requests, I have paid close attention to the music I've been seeking out. And I honestly don't recall any introductory music when the swordfight with Ganondorf begins. JTurner has recorded the battle itself from the very beginning, and the only thing before that is a cutscene, but I don't think that cutscene has any music to it. And before that is the Ganondorf horseback battle, which is already in the rip.
Perhaps you could elaborate on what precisely you're looking for?

I'm terrible at description, but here goes.
Well during the very beginning, a little before the Boss title: "Dark Lord Ganondorf" appears, you hear just drums(or something like that) playing the music(this is what I meant by the intro), and then it goes into the full music.
Listen very carefully next time you are about to fight Ganon in the sword duel and you'll see (or hear rather) what I'm talking about.

I don't doubt a few people might have been confused... your browser may try to save these files without a file extension, leading to a seemingly useless file. It happened to me, but it's easily fixed If this happens, simply add ".zip" at the end of the filename before downloading or after the download has finished.
Also, big props to JTurner for creating all this. My ears and iPod thank you greatly.

Wow, first let me thank you profusely for this excellent set. There is one thing I'd like to ask about it though. In Faron Woods, there's a short intro before the song that plays every time you walk or warp into it from the outside. Is there a chance that little part could be added too? I sometimes go out of my way in the game to go back there just to hear that little intro.

Actually, you don't have to do anything :P I've already downloaded your files from Sendspace, and I just finally got done uploading them in Megashare. Actually, I unzipped them, but then rezipped them as .rar files, instead of .zip files. You'll need WinRAR, or maybe WinZIP, to unzip them.
Anyway, here's the three .rar versions of JTurner's awesome Zelda: Twilight Princess OST on Megashare

I didn't capture it, it's one of the pieces of streamed music in the game, which, if you have a disc image, can be extracted and played using a plug-in and WinAmp. This is why I was guessing, it was one of the few files that had a name and was not merely "Demo" with a number.

My first post here, and i just wanna say THANK YOU for this great upload! I love Zelda music. i have composed Zeldas lullaby as ringtone on my cellphone myself.
i find that much of the music in recent zelda games, from OOt and onward resembles the music from star wars and lord of the rings. Anyone who agrees? Both in the happy cheery short tunes, and the darker, more "evil" tunes for bosses, danger, etc.

great stuff, only one problem, what did you do to the mp3 files, because it has no protection on it..it plays on all media players, but it won't allow me to open them in Audio Editing or certain programs & i want to be able to loop them so that i can put them into a fan game, any reasons for this at all?

on the whole, I like the reverb. it sounds pretty similar to the reverb of the 7-track "official soundtrack" most of the time. the only problem is that sometimes the reverb is a bit *too* overpowering, especially on low bass.
how did you record/rip these tracks in such high quality and without sound effects?
(also i love the long version of the Hyrule Field theme)
EDIT: (check that, the way you arranged the Hyrule Castle theme is even better. this is how it should be on an official soundtrack, if there ever is one... come on, Nintendo!)
your rip is fantastic.

Apologies if this isn't welcomed or useful...
If you guys are anything like me I obsess over cover art for soundtracks. I like to display them in iTunes or on my iPod so I know what is on at a quick glance.
I took the liberty of creating a cover for JTurner's excellent, excellent version of the Twilight Princess soundtrack. Hopefully some of you will find a use for it!

Once again, I am overwhelmed by the praise you have showered upon me! Thank you tremendously.
To answer your question about the tracks sans sound effects? Well, some of the tracks were accomplished music-only either by standing in an area where the SE weren't so obvious. But for tracks, like the cutscenes, they had already been ripped from the disc (by someone else, I don't remember the name), so I simply used those and combined them onto one track.
And I love the fanmade cover; I'm flattered, even if I had made one, this is very flattering nonetheless!

Thanks JTurner - I never noticed that you had made a cover, sorry, but I'm glad you're flattered.
Now, I listen to your version at least once a day - it's phenomenal. Seriously top notch work. The reverb is suitable and the editing is gorgeous.
I have one request, though. For me, a seminal moment in the game is the entrance to the Sacred Grove, when we hear the famous 'Lost Woods/Saria's Song' Theme.
I was disappointed that you only had one refrain of the tune before introducing the enemy approach music. Is there any way to re-do the track and let the main theme play through twice? Is there any way to capture the horn accompaniment that Skull Kid provides?
Other than that, I think your release would rival anything Nintendo could release. It's that good.

Excellent job with the rip. I did have a problem with the second disc file, which I downloaded twice to make sure it wasn't just a one-time problem. In trying to extract the Zip file, I continuously got a corrupt data message. After spending an hour or so locating a free Zip repair application, it seems that the track that is damaged is #99, the Fortune Telling House. I don't know if anyone else has experienced problems with that file, but I felt it should be brought to your attention.
Now despite my complaint, I absolutely feel compelled to end on a positive note, and so I will agree with TheCassidy in his assertion that this rivals anything Nintendo could release. Your version of the overworld theme is exactly what I wanted out of the Nintendo official CD that came with the magazine.

I didn't have any problems with it, and I only recently downloaded it.
Maybe you could re-download it and see if that works? If not, PM me if you want and I'll send you the track that's corrupted...hope that's OK for me to offer to do that.

I've only downloaded the first disc since I've only just finished the first set of tears but I plan to download the rest when I've gotten farther in the game. That cover art is also great, Cassidy.
What editing program did you use to fix these tracks? I record with Audacity but there's a constant buzzing noise I haven't been able to get rid of. Some of the music I record is enough to hide the sound but on others it's easily heard. I want to know because I'm working on the Fur Fighters game rip and want it to be perfect. If you have to PM me please do.

I'm sure there's a way and it's probably right under my nose but none of the links will allow me to download the tracks. Apparently deleted from sendspace and I'm obviously too late for that May 5th deadline...

I personally deleted the previous version so that the newer (and I'd argue, more advanced) version could take its place. However, I HAVE updated my preexisting version with the new tracks (including some which I could not include on the album due to, um, difficult situations. Chances are that I will upload that, but more likely on someplace like, well, FileFactory. If and when that happens (I have quite a lot on my shoulders), I shall update this thread and page.

That's cool, everybody gets busy. Is there another place to download any version of your work? All my friends tell me that TP is the coolest music, but all they have is the game and all I have is an Ipod.
Which, by the way, its not hard to put Mp3s on an Ipod, just hit "File" "upload folder" (or something similar, bite me) after you've unzipped it all and select the folder. Then wait three hours...
...
...
and finally put it on your Ipod. Wait one hour....
and you can finally listen to it without a computer. Honestly, I think Media Player is easier to use than Itunes. Apple is a jerk.
I'm not bitter, I really am not bitter at all. Not at all.

Actually, I wasn't responsible for either of those; PrimeBlue was the one who manipulated the sequencing. (The only thing I did was trim the tracks down to one loop, so as to save disc space and add reverb.)

JTurner, my compliments. You have done a very nice job. Everything sounds like it could be the real deal, a official soundtrack release. All the boss appearence and boss theme's blend in nicely.
Especialy the Diababa Theme is very well done, considering all the changes in action and music that had occured during the fight.
Als the Hyrule Main Theme is done suburb! It ends nicely with the 'sun going down' music...
I wish you'd kept the choir in at the end though. That would have been a nice send off after horn variation. But apart from that, I'm not complaning!!=)

Thanks for the kind words. Again, though, the only thing I did was add the reverb; all the editing (sequencing?) was done by Prime Blue. Credit should go to him too.
It's a shame that we may never receive an official soundtrack release of this music, but at least some fans are smart enough to make one themselves. :)

It all depends on what you're looking for.
The link that you posted conducts to PrimeBlue's gamerip, who did all the sequencing and riping originaly. Most of the tracks from JTurner's gamerip (posted in this thread) come originally from there.
PrimeBlue's gamerip is like any official game soundtrack: it contains all of the game's tunes (including those like "get item", and "get rupee"), and the songs loop twice, with the variations in each track used once (like the music that plays whan you're winning in a boss battle), usually at the end of the track before looping a third time to fade out. The music here sounds just like it does in the original game. This gamerip also contains "rare" tracks, such as the music used in the trailers and the opening demo, hell, it even contains the Wii Disc Chanell track used for this game! It's basically a museum of all music that is included in (or related to) Twilight Princess.
JTurner's rip, on the contrary, only contains the game's mainstream tracks, and they only loop once. The plus it has is that they have received a "reverberation" treatment. This is an effect similar to adding "echo" to a track, which makes it sound less "flat", and more like they're beeing played by live instruments (the Main Theme and the boss battles, which are played by a full orchestra, sound AWESOME under this treatment).
In case you're wondering, both gamerips contain all variations of the Main Hyrule Field Theme, so you won't have any disapointment there. The only diference is, once again, the reverberation treatment, in which JTurner's rip track it sounds more like a real orchestra.
So, once again, it's up to you. If you want the original, all-in-one pack of the music in the game, it's PrimeBlue's, if you want the selected, edited, remastered, and "orchestral" rendition, then JTurner's it is. The pick is yours.
I hope I could be of some help.

Is it the Reverb added version?

Yeah, you seem like you've put in a lot of effort for this, so thanks. I just wonder if you know which specific release the music was sourced from? Wii/GameCube and which region release. Thanks, anyhoo.

Thank you for the tracks. I am grateful to have them.
In my perfect world, a few things would be different:
1. The files would be mp3's. I guess I missed that original offering since update #2 in the first post says the new downloads are mp4's (and indeed, they are). My portable players are not Apple products so I can only listen to these on a computer. I guesss I could fart around with some sort of converter? One of these days, I'll search the internets for that type of thing, I guess.
2. The tracks would be slightly less bass-heavy. There's some distortion.
3. The tracks would be named without the weird, bracketed characters which I have had to manually remove in order for the files to play through Quicktime on my PC. Here's an example of the file name that comes up:
3-25 Death Sword Appears (‚‚™ƒ˜‚™ƒの‰‡現).m4a
Weird, huh? I had to go through every track (all 150+) in order to remove the gobbledegook. Admittedly I am not super tech-savvy (I just wanna download plain old mp3's) so there was probably a more efficient way of getting rid of the part of the file names that was causing problems, but its done now.
The above feedback is meant to be constructive so sorry if I sound like a jerk. Despite the above minor complaints, please know that I really am grateful. Thank you again.
**Edit** I just read the first post again. The bracketed characters are probably Japanese that my computer won't read.

You could have downloaded a tag renaming program. I use TagScanner. It would have looked like this:
if it really bothers you, it would still have Japanese characters in the filename after. Too bad you wasted your time, but next time.. (if you choose to use a tagging program, anyway).

The gibberish can be avoided if the uploader uses winrar or 7zip to compress the music. Both come with native unicode support.

None of the posted download links work! I want to experience this soundtrack, as I currently only have the 127 Track version, which is rather subpar.

I was rather disappointed that the PrimeBlue rip is also unavailable as well. If anyone has either of these rips that they could post a link for, it would be so much appreciated.

Could this OST have a re-upload? I know that a official release had since been put out into the public. But way before that happened I really liked your reverb treatment of this wonderful music. Alas, my PC crashed and I have been looking for this post ever since.
A upload would be much appreciated! :)
