Here is one of the absolute best Ys soundtracks ever made, I highly recomend this one. It's for the recent remake of Ys 3: Wanderer's from Ys, entitled Oath in Felghana. If you even remotely like Ys, download this soundtrack! Also, if you are into Prog. Rock, there's some hot tracks in this one! Enjoy

Well, I've never seen or played this, but if you say this is better than Book 1&2, I'll take your word for it and check it out.....we got the same tastes pretty much....

Thanx 4 it!!! =P

I highly recomend you pick this game up! This, & Ys Origin(of which the ost comes out on the 29th of this month) are my favorite Ys ever, I just love them. This game, makes everything right, that was wrong about the original Ys 3. And even then, I enjoyed Ys 3, but, this game is so well done. I probably shouldn't hype it up too much, but, I love it, & it blows away Ark of Napishtim, that's for sure! There's also an english patch that will be available soon, since Konami(who owns the rights to Ys in North America) hasn't made any announcement about them porting it to PS2 or PSP.

The only Ys game I've ever played was YsIII for the SNES. And it didn't impress me all that much. But I too will take your word for it P. Dragon. So what kind of sound does this OST have? I'm curious.

Yeah, the original Ys 3, is known as a loser in the Ys series, which is probably part of the reason they decided to redo it completely! Hmm, what kind of sound? Well, like I said, there's some Prog. Rock type stuff, which Ys is known for. Some classical sounding stuff. Most of the levels in this, have alot of guitar, some of it is pretty damn nice! But it's not all rockish, like say, Sapphire or Lords of Thunder. But, probably the quality of the music is higher then those games. I just can't think of anything in particular that it sounds like. But, most of the music has alot of energy. I hope atleast some of this helps!

While this is bumping nearly an 8-month old thread :), I wanted to thank you for the upload as well.

Ys: Books I&II and Ys III for the Turbo GrafX CD (I'm sure I'm mangling the 'official' name for the system there) were among my favorite soundtracks of all time. Nostalgia probably boosted that a bit, since it took YEARS (and this site, of course) to finally track them down again.

I downloaded this on a whim, figuring it'd just be a "dumbed down" version of the CD content. And while the songs are in essence the same, it's enough of a kick-ass remix to make me uncertain which version I prefer now. Shock of the Grim Reaper is just amazing in this version. :)

So thanks again!

Yeah, I agree, it's hard for me to decide which version of Ys 3 music I enjoy most. Falcom did a reall good job with this one, matching the arrangements that Ryo Yonemitsu did for the Turbo Grafx version. Infact, I'd say that Falcom was even inspired by Ryo's work, for this version. BTW, were you able to download disc 1? It shows it as being unavailable.

I actually got the first disk a few weeks ago, and had been floating around with just that half of it for awhile, until I finally found the time to download the second disk. (60 hour work weeks due to the madness of the holiday season don't give you much time to sit in front of a computer outside of work, heh.) And the second disk just happened to work ... almost as if it had been waiting for me. :) Heh.

I'm curious about the "Ys Series Metal Arrange," too, but that link has also passed into the 'great beyond' of cyberspace. Was that any good, or was it just a compilation of things that already existed from the other soundtracks?

[Edit: Ew. Just read your "main thread" and saw the tech issues you were having there. Hopefully that all gets straightened out for you. :(]

On Ys Metal Arrange, they are all remakes, I don't think they are available on any other ost's. I think it was some kind of fan project, deffinitly cool to hear. My sound partition seems to be working again(though, I just got a 500 Gig Hd to back up everything, just incase), so I'll reupload it for you.

Might I add, the Metal songs are pretty crunchy sounding, maybe a little too much for my liking, but, they're still cool.

Right now, I only use File Factory, I've been disatisfied by Mega Upload & the others. They delete the files way to quickly, sometimes within in a few hours of me uploading them, which is unacceptable.

And many thanks! This, and your other Ys OSTs, are incredible.

I am VERY thankful. THIS is how you remake an old soundtrack!

I can put these files up on my own webhosting, if you'd like, so you're not constantly updating Filefactory links. Is that something you would like? I'm not pitching anything, just a friendly offer.

Have you played Felghana? It far surpasses any other Ys game, if you ask me.

It's the pinncale. It's a masterpiece.

He's probably talking about the original Ys 3, Wanderers from Ys.

Yeah, Wanderers, I played it a long time ago. This soundtrack rocks! Do you know if Yuzo is still involved w/ JDK band?

Paranoia Dragon
06-11-2008, 11:03 AM
He's not, infact, he mainly just did work for Hudson's Falcom projects(Ys 1-4, Legend of Heroes 1 & 2). He was never really officially a part of JDK, if I understand correctly. He got out of the video game scene for awhile, but, recently, he did a few songs on a Wild Arms arrange album!

Thank you very much sir. Now I can enjoy the music as well as the difficulty of the game itself. The Shock of Grim Reaper is just such a fitting theme for the bosses of Ys.

And here I was under the impression that Yuzo Koshiro did all the music for the Ys series..

Paranoia Dragon
06-26-2009, 03:56 AM
Crap, for some reason when I posted that, I thought he was talking about Ryo Yonemitsu, who did all the redbook audio for Hudson's Falcom games on the Turbo Grafx CD. Yuzo Koshiro was indeed part of JDK, & worked on Ys 1 & 2, & Sorcerian, & probably a few others before leaving & I think formed a development group called Quartet, which made Actraiser, among other games.
