My style is very anime-ish(don't bother looking in the dictionary, I just made this word up:P). I like anime better than any other styles, but I would recognize good art when I see it. Style is important, but so are skills, creativity, and originality.

as long as the skill is there, it doesn't matter what style you use. I should say to avoid a straight copy of animation styles. you see, animated art is simplified, for the sake of being animated. these people scribble these things out. Spend the extra time you have making something better.

I say go for whatever art style feels right to you. There are several styles and you should look at each one. Look at the different How To guides out there. Marvel and DC comic's push out How To books. And there's now How To books for the Anime/Manga style. Go to a local art supply store like Micheal's or look at online art supplies. You'll find several differnt guides on The Body and Anatomy. Machines. Animals, Cartooning. Etc. Check out each style and choose the one that best suits you. You may even choose more than one style. Mix and match them together into one. Make up your own style if you feel more comfortable like that. But, once you've picked a style you've got to study it. A good idea is to draw several times a week trying to improve your skill each time you do. Date and hold onto each piece. Keep them in order so you can look back and see your progress. But most importantly... Study. I can't press that enough. I'm 22 years old and I never took an Art Lesson or Class until recently. I started getting those Art Guides. My own art style was fine. But, because I never studied I was lacking in several areas. Now I have to study on those misgivings to improve my work. I'm actually improving my work through this. It's suprising to my friends too. Another good idea is to take black and white photos and try to sketch copies of them. Don't trace, just try and get your peice to look as much like the origial. Some people scoff at copying like that. But, this will help you learn the placement of the lines, curves, and shadows. That helps alot. Those Trace and Color books for kids, actually help develope art skills for the future. Ask around. Other artists input helps too. As long as they don't bash your work just for the sake of bashing it.

My style from the last few year was kinda DBZ-ish:D , I'm slowly changing towards more serieusly manga/anime-style(mostly in my head), I want it for so long now, but the reason that I didn't really started it, was pure because I just can't draw the style I want to. I'm trying hard now to learn in, I'm inspired by streetfighter and 7 blades, and a lot of other things like ninja scroll etc.( I thinka lot of thingies inspires somebody, maybe without even noticing it by yourself). Maybe my next comic is gonna be sick manga style with a lot of cool blades...hmm, that sound phat...
(I have to cancel my recent comic, though, quite sad because the story floating through my brains wasn't that bad, but I'm just too much changing style, to even continueing it; more and more then ever seeying the cool stuff Nymph is making right now....

Your drawing style is certainly influanced by what you get as inspiration and by what you want it to look like... what you want to draw, what you dont want to draw.

Still, my sister has the same interests as me, watches the same movies, reads the same manga, likes the same manga characters, likes the same music... and still we have two quite different drawing styles.

I think it is personal and unique, like your handwriting character...

I always draw anime-style. I never have any good drawings otherwise. To me, anime-style drawings are the easiest for me to draw. Is that weird?
