Figured this should go here since some people who play the game don't check General Gaming.
also: we need to think about what kind of server people want to play on (do we want pvp action?), what classes are we going to be (not everyone needs to be a rogue), are we alliance or horde (pretty important), and are we going to have certain days or times of day that we play our shrine pcs (we dont really want a few that reach lvl 30 while the rest are 15)?
Pretty much sums up what I was thinking. This doesn't apply to any new people here since we don't want a bunch of random strangers joining our server. But whoever else is interested in having all the Shriners start fresh on a new server and do a bunch of stuff together, what have you, post here. And when the server is decided (or if anyone knows of a good server that has a stable connection all the time and is close to us), we can just pm each other the server name.
EDIT: Prak and I checked out Blade's Edge for a little bit, but then he told me it's a Mountain Time Zone server, which would affect it's performance. Drenden was way too inconsistent for us.
UPDATE: I am a human warrior of blacksmithing/mining, Prak is a human paladin of skinning/mining, Ndi is a draenei mage of blacksmithing/?, Milkman is a draenei shaman of ?/?, Goron is a Dwarf Rogue of ?/?, and Loolee is a draenei priest of herbalism/enchanting.
I posted all this in the other thread, but I'll repeat it here.
The method of testing new servers is really simple. We pick a server to look at and a few people join it and compare pings. If it's stable all around, then it's a good bet.
I would NOT recommend a PvP server for a shrine group.
Class planning isn't that important since it can be shuffled after the fact thanks to people having alts.
I'd say alliance since it will make it more accessible to new players who read this thread or anything else on the subject weeks/months down the line and want to hook up with us. Horde is more complicated. That's why I prefer Horde, as a matter of fact, but gotta think about the overall picture.
There's no problem with people being different levels. The more people we draw in, the less of a concern it'll be.
I think our biggest concern is what to name our inevitable guild. I'm thinking Let's Ban Hydrogen. ;)

I thought about starting to play again, but I'm not sure. I'd like to try out expansion stuff.
I'd really really prefer an eastern/central time zone, RP server, and mostly, a server that's fairly new. I'm not sure how I"d do with just casual play, since last time I played, i was pretty absorbed, and did a lot of endgame stuff. But, given the new starting areas and races, it might be nice to play casually with some shriners.
Count me as a maybe. I have to gauge my time, and money (for subscription and expansion).

RP servers have people running around Goldshire in "street clothes" talking in /say. If someone comes up to you and RP's in /say, either ignore them or play along. Doing something like /say LOL FAGGOT RP is going to piss a lot of people off. RP servers, imo, generally have a more mature population, but have a lot of elitist jerks who will get angry if you enjoy PvP/endgame/levelling without RPing.
I was in an end-game raiding guild on an RP server, and we got a lot of grief. Granted, some of our members were dicks, did things like training that one unkillable dragon thing to Stormwind, then tried to find some way to pass it off as RP.
At any rate, I don't think any shriners would have any problems with that sort of thing. I'd be happy with a normal server too, but I'm pretty awful at PvP, and don't like it much unless I'm in a BG.
I'm also just a "maybe", so my opinion doesn't count too much D:

Sorry guys, I'll pass, the whole anti-PvP attitude is pretty lame. There's nothing wrong with PvP servers, if anything, they're more fun. Unless of course heaven forbid your questing is delayed 2 minutes, while you're QQing because Horde killed you. It's not even like they're swarming the areas either, it's casual stuff.
Everything is pretty balanced except you don't have crazy name restrictions and there are no artards running around asking you in Old English if you've got any bread for the fucking needy.
Also, last time I tried rerolling with all my friends, all but one other and myself quit (or went back to old characters) and if you're all casual players theres nothing to do.

You'd be surprised about how much amusement you can get out of 1 shotting people 30 levels lower than you. Sadly, you do get the ??s returning the favor. It doesn't happen every damn day and for the most part they go on their way. Play a stealthing class if you don't want to be camped, PvP servers are even better with them because if you want to avoid a confrontation you're free to stealth around or welcome to get them from behind and fuck them over.

Less QQ more PewPew.
In general, the only thing that irks me about the entire idea is that everyones like, ewww PvP servers and they're not even that bad. Normal servers are just quest after quest after quest, same shit different character. (Ok throw in a little battlegrounds here and there) Anything worse than that like RP servers are just a bunch of crazy people speaking Old English. PvP servers offer everything and anything you'd like to do, helps break the game out of repetition.
Guild raids on Tarren Mill, for the win. The lowbies always call the 70s for help, then it gets fun.

Umm, it's not really a raid when the opposite faction gets to decide whether or not you can actually do anything to them.
*search without warning, make a sudden surprise attack on; "The police raided the crack house"
*foray into: enter someone else's territory and take spoils; "The pirates raided the coastal villages regularly"

Raids on non-pvp servers are generally killing npcs for a minute or two before lots actual players show up to fight.
Whoever seriously does that, needs to get in a damn raiding guild and go slay dragons. I would guess you'd raid the opposite faction, to ya'know, kill them? Didn't know PvP meant Player vs. Environment. Not to mention, that's also how most of the raids blowup, the lowbies get killed so they call the 70s. Normal servers, I guess the lowbies QQ because their quest giver got killed. GG.

It probably isn't what you actually mean, but doing it in this thread makes it seem like you're throwing a hissy fit because we decided to play on a normal server.

I'll admit, the Normal server decision wasn't the best one and it turned me off, but I did have intention of rerolling until I thought of the following...
-I'd probably outlevel you all due to being casual players.
-We wouldn't have the numbers to do anything.
-Server time is shit for me, because even if I were to do my own thing and start raiding, I'd be screwed over and end up staying on until 3AM.
But go ahead, call it a hissy fit, I just decided it's a blatent waste of my time and I wanted to express my dislike for it, sue me.

If I Were To Join In With You Guys:
1. Should I Just Pick A Class I'd Like To Play or Can You Suggest Something You Guys Would Actually Like Or Need?
And
2. What Level Are you Guys Roughly So I Can Grind Out To Be A Similar Level As Everyone

I really don't care much at all if the population is low or high.
Setzer, Prak and I are in the mid-twenties level. The rest are still somewhere in the teens. I think we have almost one of every class now, unless I'm wrong. So you can probably just make whatever.

we dont have a lock (which could come in handy), druid, or hunter. but if you did go the lock route, that would make 3 of us cloth wearers which is kinda high for our low numbers. and there are a ton of hunters (i see more hunters than rogues or locks on this server which is weird). shrug. i guess it doesnt matter too much at this point.
im on quite a bit (but still only 19) so you probably dont need to be a healer. since smokey and prak either one could be a tank really i would go the dps route.

I am still level 9 since I don't really have the urge to play at all.
Ever.

Well I Just Rolled Myself A NE Druid Named Emilae.
I'm Hoping To Go For Some Kind of Balance Druid But I'll See What We End Up Needing And I'll Spec For That.

Balance sounds like a good idea.

Blade's Edge, alliance.
kk, thanks for that. I'll probably be playing as horde for a little bit to play around with the blood elves since i haven't actually used em yet, and blood elves = my favorite wc race.
When i make my alliance chara i'll probably a human or night elf.
If i'm human i'll probably be a Warlock, Mage or Priest. If night elf; Druid.
The only one i currently know what i'm gonna call is my human priest; Jeebus
Like i do on every server i've made a priest on. But yeah, when i finally scab WoW of one of my friends, you might see me on.
