Yes. What Final Fantasy made you feel like that you haven't had enough, like totally unsatisfied, even though you've completed all of its minigames, sidequests, main story, and maximized every single thing(character stats etc.)? What Final Fantasy made you say "That's it!?"

For me, it would be FFX. I've completed all of the minigames. My blitzball players are all leveled up. I have obtained all of the characters' ultimate weapons and upgraded them to the maximum level. I have all my aeons and I have their status all at 255, as well as my characters. I could easily kill all the boss monsters in the monster arena without any difficulties. Yet, when I play it, I look for other stuff to do that I may have missed, yet I find nothing. And sometimes, I will say to SE, "Damn you SE! This is it!?"

I guess it's either the game is not too challenging or the game is just plain fun. =/

I found this with IX... I mean it is my favourite so far. And when the story ended I just thought to myself "you're kidding right?! I'm not ready for this to end? I neeeeeed more!"

So I agree yeah on this one to me it was that I liked it enough to not want it to end. I'd say the same with X but my PS2 pretty much gave up before I could get to the point where I had no sidequests left.

I found with FFIX, it was a good sort of "that's it?" becuase while I love the game and wished there was more to it, what WAS in the game and how the story ended was still the most satisfying ending I think I ever had in any game so far, even after all these years. But yes, I always wish there was more to do and experience.

The one that made me go, "What the hell? That's it? I can't believe I wasted so much time on this!" was definitely FFVII. I hated that game's ending. :P

VIII. I kept trying to find things to do, but I'm amazingly satisfied with the ending. I also did it with the original Kingdom Hearts. No one really NEEDS all the blueprints :-P

Revaninja
02-25-2007, 03:49 AM
Agree with you on the KH blueprints and most are just worthless though Funny to see.

As for me it was FFX that left me wanting more it was like I go through all that then Here is Tidus then the end? Come on more Damn you Square! And yes I am Iffy on FFX-2 played just not quite to sure how to handle it too busy drooling really. =)

As for hooking that would be FFIV Cecil Dark Knight I have read alot of myths so to have a character seeped in Darkness like that from the start was so cool one of the reasons why I like Dark Knights to this day.

In fact they really should do a FF like that where the Main Character starts out a Villian and slowly morphs to a good guy by the end. And not like Cecil's transformation but a Character who is evil at the start but keeps getting shoved in the face what he or she is doing is wrong.

I thought FFVIII tried to hard but didn't do enough. They claim it's theme is "love" but I kept questioning it the whole time.

Also, FFIX seemed rushed toward end of the game along with FFX. But the actual ending of X was still good.

Neg
02-25-2007, 04:39 AM
You're questioning the theme of Love?!?!? This isn't the thread for this debate, plus I am the one with Squall in my signature :-P

Not exactly a fair and unbiased argument.

I liked how VIII somewhat limited the side-quests to keep the focus on the story, while still giving us Triple Triad to sink or teeth into. Maybe that IS part of why I always wanted more. Love the story, wish I could spend more time in the world. Well that's why we replay the games to death :D

For me, it would have to be XII. When I was fighting the last boss, I felt there was many plot points that weren't fully resolved or elaborated and it was a huge let down for me. Gameplay wise I also asked for even more stuff to do although it is the game in the series that has the most sidequests and stuff to find.

Oh, I totally agree here. That would be a first! Square Enix, if you read this (and I'm sure you don't, but whatever) give us a bad ass main character for a change!

For me, IX or V.

In V for the Gameboy Advance, I managed to take down Shinryu and Omega followed by their upgraded forms and Enuo but I still wanted more for some reason.

I thought IX had the best set of characters so I was hoping to see more interaction between them.

Glad you agree with me Hynad. It would be awesome to be Evil in FF I mean you could boss people around beat them up have fun with the ladies =) so forth. One of the things I liked and hated about Kotor was the chance to be evil but hated how most options made you a Thug. I am sorry give me Evil Lezard style cunning crafty smooth talker but Amoral in my choices and planning. Espically if you get to be a Dark Knight again and could get the creepy gloom and loom you just know that armor creates.

Also it would be fun if they made FFXI a solo play where you get to create a party like in FFXII but actually have job classes. I love FFXI's armor and weapon design I just despise playing it. The only problem is no Personality for Main game play which would suck.

They should make a FF without real villains or heroes. Two groups fighting each other but with no "dark" side. The characters would be from both groups, and the player could se the story developing from 2 completly different points of views. This would make a far more interesting plot than the classic: Here is ur team, here is your villain, kick his ass.

Much like the others FFVII or FFIX.

VII was just - "seriously? THAT'S IT!!" - simply POOF the end, leaving me tearing to no avail at the televsion screen - "WHAT A RIP!!!!"

IX, definatly not my favourite FF to date, the entire game was kind of like some sort of drowesy stroll. Started it, some stuff happened,.then it was over. And I completed all the side quests (another disappointment) bought the guide after I completed the game only to discover I really did beat it completely, every side quest, task and boss. Pure dissappointment.

Mine would have to be FFVIII and FFX. I enjoyed 8 very much, but I didn't want it to end because I thought that Rinoa was still a sorceress at the end and SeeD was meant to destroy sorceresses. And I was really enjoying 10 and I was mad when it ended. For me, it seemed like the end was so sudden.

FF2 (J) really left me hanging. Ok, so all of sudden there's this emperor and I kill him... "That's it?!" Not that I really expected anything from the game to begin with. I really shouldn't have played it after VI though. IV kinda left me hanging, but more because I had finally begun to know and like the characters, like Edge's liking of Rydia, and then it's already the end.

Final Fantasy 6, Hands Down, After all the WOR Stuff, and finding everyone and getting weapons and all that, it ended perfectly, but - i will say FF9 ended well and so did FF8. but as far as saying "Thats it!", was FF6 for me!

I'm going to say FFX-2. And I don't mean plot wise really. But there's a crapload to do, and it's fun to do aswell.

I want to master all the Dress Spheres for everyone (Gun Mage is a BITCH to complete), I already have 100% so that's enough. I want atleast 3 of all accessories (so I have to play through the game atleast 2 more times, because I have only one Iron Duke and one Key to Success so far).

How come no one is mentioning the fall-out of FF Tactics? The story is great and gameplay awesome with the refined chibi characters and backgrounds (the summons suck though..don't know why, they just do). But the ending! If you level yourself up trying to prepare for anything that might decimate a given party, it becomes a waste of time when all these Shrine Knights and Holy Knights join your party before going to the last area and finishing the game with nothing but the play through.
FFXII isn't as bad, but it's still to the point of tactics where it's not how much you level up but how you use different jobs/skills to survive a boss fight or land a mark.

Final Fantasy VII of course. I compete in every chocobo race I get to get every prize, Materia, and to get the msytic Gold Chocobo, and be S class. And I've tried every stupid "code" to revive Aeris thousands of times, and finally found out years ago that GameShark is the only way to save her.

(Did anyone know that Aeris makes a really weird remark, "This place is cold. Let's go." at the snowy place after the forgotten city when you get her in gameshark?)

I didn't know she said that but what's weird about it? I mean, if it's a snowy place one must expect temperatures well below tropical.

I'm afraid I've never beaten a final fantasy with such tanacity. I must admit that VII was the first one I ever really 'got into', though I did play FF Adventures 2 on gameboy, which was interestingly fun.

Final Fantasy VI. Oh so much to do! The same with VIII. Using drawn spells to enhance defense and offense made for some good variety. (100 Deaths to Status Attack. The ultimate cheesiness!)

XII would be great if it was a real Action RPG like .hack or Mana.(Meaning you have to actually push the button to make the controlled character attack)

I like the idea of a totally evil character learning that well, being evil is bad for his soul and gradually turns good. Here's another idea - a main character who has ZERO fighting ability and must gradually learn to fight.

Final Fantasy XII definitely. I was reading the guide at the top floor of that huge fuck off tower and it read something to the lines of "alright although this isnt the last dungeon it really may as well be as the final one only has a few cutscenes in between boss battles before the credits" to which I though WHAT

honestly I believe that game was only getting going and the characters were only slightly stepping out of there shells. Ugh it was sickening. That story shouldve been so much more.
