all of the faqs on gf assume i remember where this pos part of the game was. well, i don't. can somebody give detailed instructions on where this thing is? i just want mog in my party again.
this is the kind of shit i'm talking about with ffVI...its like you have to go through rocket science just to get the ppl you regularly use in combat. the fuck...you can't even go through the game with the ppl you like til damn near the end of the game. you are forced to use ppl, then you get used to them, then you have to use others, then you get used to them, then they stick you with other ppl you don't use, then expect you to go find the ppl you did use, but no, not an easy way, lets put them through malboros, tonberries, over leveled enemies and random encounters out the ass. then lets let the SECRET locations of the ppl they normally use be a secret and cryptic. lets locate them in obscure areas, scattered throughout a land they no longer know.
ffVII >>>>>>>>>> ffVI. at least i could god damn use my party from start to finish. cloud might have gotten christopher reeve'd but at least i had EVERYBODY ELSE in my party while he was out.
It's in your favorite place, Narshe, of course. Make sure you check where Mog is standing after he re-joins for the Moogle Charm. That way you can avoid those random encounters you seem to dislike so much.
i knew it was in narshe, i just didn't know where. i had to say fk the guides and just find it myself. ran from 979878978979798 random battles and explored every inch. being that all the guides were vague, i ended up fighting the esper at the top of the mountain and the ice dragon. i spent a little better than and hour looking for mog because of vague guides.
um...i got handed by the ice dragon but i beat the esper. took awhile because i don't think i was supposed to even attempt to take it on without having ppl i actually use...
anyway, i finally found mog after nearly giving up to go watch the grammys. the ds has an incredible battery life, by the way.
i can't even believe i found the guy. i guess i had to after going through every inch of narshe.

Too bad you have to go back and get Umaro now.

Yeah, Moogle Charm is your ticket to avoiding the random battles.
But you have actually touched on the one point of FFVI that I strongly agree with that was a weak point --- too many useless / nonessential characters. If the game had any major downfall it was that. The number of playable characters was unwieldly.

Well, actually, I beg to defer. I kinda preferred the variety of characters in the game and actually liked the multiple group splits. But then again, I followed up FFVI with FFVII, which of course has party selection too. Then I followed up with FFIV and FFV, and just didn't find fun in that because I can't pick a party. I guess it's because I played the two which allowed party mix-and-match and then just grew to like it.
And yeah, as K- pointed out, Moogle cave is in Narshe (go in through the hidden cave iirc). And equip Charm Bangle to reduce battle encounter until you find Mog and the Moogle Charm (one reason Mog is always in my party next to Edgar, Sabin and Locke).
And teach your party vanish/doom. Very handy spell combination

Well, I'll agree it can be fun to pick a party. I just thought FFVI was a bit excessive about it. I mean you've got characters like Umaro and Gogo in particular who really serve pretty much no plot point whatsoever. At least all of the characters got their own ending, which can't be said for FFVII.
well, i'm almost done. i've done every thing in the game except defeat kefka (i'm actually kinda savoring the moment, lol. i might create like 2 or 3 saves...i already defeated one of the Goddess statues...unfortunately, but i'm creating a save for the others so i can go back and beat them again for fun).
i basically leveled up like crazy. most of my guys are in the 50s and know every spell in the game (including flood, valor, etc. from the new espers).
i don't like the fact that there are so many characters and you're forced (during most of the game) to use different combinations of them...i like a few characters that you're stuck with throughout the game so you learn a lot about them, their weaknesses, strengths etc. and make them into your playstyle. with 80 gajillion characters, its harder to do that when you're forced, you know? like kefka's tower...
i mean its a part of the strategy to go in there with the right ppl spread out, but its just tedious and takes even more time. the game is better than IV, i haven't finished V yet, but its somewhat even so far, although parts of VI ARE better. its NOT better than VII though, IMHO.
*oh, and VII borrowed way too much from VI. the whole angel thing...the flying enemy you have to beat in your airship, etc. =/
well, i beat it. i've done everything in the game except for the dragons den...i went in there to see what was up but i was so tired because i:
-leveled up from around 40 something to 50 something with 4 characters in the forest
-leveled up all the girls to around 40-50 sometimes by making them all learn all the magic
-went through kefka's tower
-defeated kefka and had to sit through the long ass ending (which was decent)
and it was like 5 in the morning. the game is addictive because i do not like getting handed. i almost handed brachiosaur its ass but i was training relm at the time and she was the weak link on my team...that and i wasn't expecting to see it. half of me feels like taking my main 4 guys into the forest just to whip its ass and get the celestriad (aka the economizer), but the other half says no because that would mean more leveling up for them when i need to spend that time leveling the others to 50-60.
what i was trying to do was make cyan and shadow tanks, relm, celes, terra mages but its too hard to level cyan and shadow in the forest because edge and locke have to carry the wait. its all good til two dinosaurs cast meteor back to back. my guys can handle it but cyan and shadow (and setzer) fall easily. its like babysitting, i have to make sure they stay safe and by the time locke finishes fighting, they've gained experience but the guys i wanted to gain xp didn't because they're dead. this wouldn't be a factor if i wasn't forced to once again split my party up into three to take on the dragons den.
anyway, the first guy i fought in the den was a random encounter. it was weak because my guys are beasts. the ice dragon (the first boss), however was tricky. i lost because i didn't really try, i just wanted to see if i could hang with it. i could if i put effort into it...i didn't cast golem, zona seeker, etc. so it ended up killing me, but i did kill off a few of them and almost had the last one beaten.
