Rumors have been here for quite some time. Numerous voice actors had said that they'd recorded Manhunt 2 dialogue back in March of 06. And what seems to be a very surprising reveal Rockstar have announced Manhunt 2. The game will appear on PS2, PSP and the Wii. I`m sure controversy will follow but i always felt that Manhunt was one of the most intense and atmospheric games around. Lets hope that the same gritty, disturbing yet delightful tone surrounds its sequel.
The teaser trailer and the logo seems to give us a hint that it involves some kind of twisted hospital. Doesn't sound very original but i always keep in mind that Manhunt opened the flood gates to many Hollywood movies that emulated its dark subject matter and tone.
Anyway, this is fantastic news for me. I adored the original Manhunt for all its charms, its just a pity that many think its just violence for the sake of violence. It had a great premise with fantastic art direction all tooped of with a chilling soundtrack by Craig Conner.
Set for a summer released I'm quite happy indeed. :)

A violent game on a Nintendo system!? No way!
Also: the console choice really surprises me.

Over-rated game to an over-rated system makes sense to me.

Indeed
I mean, i`ll be sure to download the PSP version regardless if it's shit or not but i`ll wait and to see some reviews of the Wii and PS2 versions. I wasn't expecting a Wii version though. It's either something that could go great or horribly horribly wrong. I guess we'll just wait and see.
This was a surpise for me too. A Rockstar game on a Nintendo system? After 5 3D GTAs that were released only for all the other consoles, Rockstar decides to publish something on the Wii!
It seems the use of the wii controler starts to interest Rockstar

I foresee a lot of bitching about how the Wii Remote makes the game too realistic.

Yes, the media will again try to show that videogames are the source of violence in the schools and stuff. And the wii controler makes this worse. Imaging being a parent and find that your 7 year old child is using the Wii controler as a knife to kill a man in the screen.

A parent should never, ever let his/her 7 year old kid get ahold of Manhunt. So shame on them if they do.

Look, when I was 7, my parents went out and bought me tens of ps1 games (copy ones, they were like $5 each) including Silent Hill. I couldnt sleep at night ;).
My point is that ,most parents dont play videogames themselves, so they dont know. And another thing is that its not that easy to get a 18 rated game without being 18. Im 14 and ive got 2 games of 15, 1 of 18 and 1 rated for 16, all original. Got my point?

I really REALLY hated Manhunt.
Every time I hear someone say they liked it, it shocks the hell out of me. The game was excruciating for me to play.

At first i found it hard to get into to be honest. Sure the kills were impressive for shock value but they got boring pretty quickly. Once the game shifted from James Earl Cash being the hunted to the hunter that's where i think it really shines. It's just a pity Rockstar waited to halfway through the game to do this though.
Also, here's a statement from Nintendo when asked about Manhunt 2 conflicting with there reputation of family friendly games.
Manhunt 2 is not developed or published by Nintendo. It is one of many titles released by third party publishers for our system that appeal to people of all ages and interests. Just as with movies, television, and books, different video games appeal to - and are appropriate for - different audiences.
Video game retailers and purchasers are strongly encouraged to follow the age-specific ESRB ratings when considering what software to sell or buy. If parents are concerned about kids having access to inappropriate Wii games, we encourage them to utilize the PIN-operated Parental Control features built into Wii.
Whats that Parental control features built into Wii?

You can put a pin code on the Wii to lock certain rated games. So if parents don't want their child playing M games, they just lock it and the only way to play the game is to know the code.

Still, i can imagine Manhunt kicking up a huge fuss when it's released on the Wii. I mean, with rumours of "interactive executions" i'm sure it'll get all the negative press it needs and then some.

Negative press is always good to help you boost sales.

Thanks for the info, ive looked it up on Wikipedia for more information too. Thats a great thing by Nintendo.

No matter how brutal or gory the next Manhunt will be, it cannot compare to Eternal Champions: Challenge From The Dark Side. THIS IS FACT.
