Good morning folks. I am in a inquisitive mood and was wondering how many people thought GTO (be it the manga, drama series, or anime) rocked their world as much as it did mine.
Even if you don't know who/what GTO is, drop a line and I (or someone else) will explain who this crazy dude is.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
For me, GTO was my inspiration to become a teacher. Currently, I'm well on my way on becoming an elementary teacher. I really hope that I get the opportunity to suplex a corrupt principle, do some late-night roof diving, or get my biker gang to rough up unruly students (or abusive parents) and manage not to get fired.
If not, I can still fantasize about it. :-P

Just in case you couldn't tell from my avatar, I really like GTO and hope to become a real "GTS" one day... ^_^;;
I'm pretty familiar with all versions of it, actually. Much liking for Onizuka here. Can't say it really affected me in any way, but I still watch the occasional episode of the anime and I have the entire live action series sitting on my hard drive despite having finished watching it ages ago. It's one of the few things I've been able to bring myself to delete.

Ditto to the deletion thing. My live action GTO has been collecting dust (if files can do that).
I was going through Hastings a few months ago and found the actual DVD of GTO: The Movie. It would have been a personal sin not to buy it, so I did, even though I've seen it as well. Not to my surprise, the dubbing was awful. But hey, Takashi Sorimachi played one helluva good Onizuka, so that's all that matters.
I've never seen the movie, though if I ever stumbled across the dvd, I would buy it on the spot.

At very the end of the drama series (the episode that ran for an hour and a half), Onizuka gets a call from one of his students and hangs up on them (because he's about to tell Fuyutsuki that he loves her, or maybe he's about to propose..?)
Anyhow, he then gets another call, tries to ignore it, and eventually answers without looking on the caller ID. Assuming it's the same student, he says something like "I told you I'm busy! ...Huh? ...Hokkaido?"
The guitar riff of "Poison" plays as the screen fades and the subtitles read "see you next time" or something.
The movie was damn good. It combined a lot of the aspects that made the anime and manga so good (such as suplexing someone or teaching life lessons though the most abstract of methods).
I recommend it for any GTO fan. I'm pretty sure I leached my copy from isohunt before stumbling upon it two years later.

I ran across an episode or two online a while back and instantly loved the series. It has a very good story, a lot of funny parts, and great characters. I've recommended it to all of my friends who are into anime. I also found volumes 1-4 (episodes 1-19) at a local Gamestop in their used DVDs section. I grabbed them up like someone was trying to get to them at the same time. Now I just need to get the rest of the anime and check out the live action series as well.
