I read the descriptions of each music-related forum, and finally decided that this topic should probably go here; and yes, I know it's extreamly likley a similar thread has been made before.

Anyways, I'm just looking for people's recommendations as to good OSTs to download, I mostly listen to anime OSTs, being as I'm not fimiliar with a whole lot of video-game music, but I'm definatley willing to pick up anything, as long as it's good. I enjoy just about anything inspired by classical or cultural music, and I am a big fan of the classics. My favorite OSTs include (but are not limited to) the .Hack://SIGN OST, the Asatte no Houkou OST, the Tsubasa Chronicle OST, the Fate/Stay Night OST, and the Kanon OST. I also love any Final Fantasy music, especially the Piano Collections~ My favorite modern composer is Kajiura Yuki, and I like anything similar to her music as well.

i like The Scrapped Princess OST, Naruto OST, Bleach OST, Melodies of life from ff IX, Eyes On Me from FF VIII, and Hikari from Kingdom Hearts

some shit id recommend is any of the samurai champloo or cowboy bebop soundtracks and the silent hill 1 and 2 soundtracks by akira yamaoka. hope you enjoy them if you decide to check them out!

I love the Crash Bandicoot soundtracks,Spyro The Dragon soundtracks,Resident Evil soundtracks,Metal Gear soundtracks,and many others.I don't know if you will like this too.Some Crash Bandicoot OSTs, are on Galbadia Hotel.And others (Spyro...) too.

personally i like......Bleach ost, tsubasa ost's, most final fantasy ost's, Mad lax has a few goodies, Chrono crusade, Negima, These also happen to be some of my favourite anime series, Game in final fantasy's case

Metal Gear got some sweet tracks, Zone of the enders wasn't bad either if you want to try out two video game soundtracks. As far as Anime goes, never been disappointed once by a ghost in the shell soundtrack that has come out save for a few of the techno cds that were released (They had nothing to do with the anime). Cowboy Bebop.. don't even have to think hard on that one dog.

I don't listen to a lot of OSTs but the ones I do have are the Vagrant Story OST and the Final Fantasy X OST and they're both pretty good.

For anime OSTs I'd suggest Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, any OSTs composed by Yoko Kanno (Escaflowne, Ghost in the Shell, and Wolf's Rain in particular), and the Gundam OSTs (G Gundam, Gundam Wing and Gundam SEED in particular)

As for video game OSTs. I'm a very big fan of the Wild Arms OSTs in particular as well as some Megaman soundtracks, and of course Final Fantasy. Some of the stuff from Legend of Dragoon is also pretty good.

I didn't see anyone mention Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Kingdom Hearts ~Final Mix~ and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. These have some of the best music I've ever heard (that is if you like Orchestral and classical pieces).

Anything by Hideki Naganuma. Meaning the Jet Set Radio Original Soundtrack, the Jet Set Radio Future Original Sound Tracks, the Ollie King Original Soundtrack, and the Sonic Rush Original Groove Rush are all great OSTs.

Anything that Jeremy Soule has done (Guild Wars Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall), Elder Scrolls III (Morrowind) and IV (Oblivion), Warhammer Mark of Chaos, Supreme Commander, Prey, etc...

i would only listen to the OSTs if i watch the anime..nice 1s are:

jigoku shoujo season1 and futakamori
bleach OST
Kingdom HEarts
opening and ending theme saiunkoku monogatari

Some of the music from Tekken 5 is fairly good too, especially Moonlit Wilderness.

Well I haven't played the games or listened to the OSTs. If I had and liked them I would have mentioned them on my list.

Well now here's your chance to.=) Since you say you like classical and orchestral music you'll find many many pieces to enjoy. You could check out the Galbadia Hotel (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/2944) website and download a couple of tracks and see if you like them before getting the entire OST.

Also, Katamari Damacy, We Love Katamari, and any of the One Piece OST's for orchestral music...

soul calibur series including soul blade id also have to say virtua fighter two ,virtual on had a couple ,the ost to metal gear solid snake eater and legend of zeld twilight princess had a good ost and of course ff 7 and 8

My favorite composer is Yuki Kajiura too, have you heard Xenosaga II, or the music inspired by Boogiepop album? Those are both good, and the boogiepop has a different feel than the majority of her songs--good stuff

God of War 1 and 2 had good OST's also Metal Gear Solid 3 and Guilty Gear, i love also Paraparaparadise's OST 1st and 2nd mixes, i love the Mickey Mouse March here! Devil May Cry 3 and Tales of Rebirth also Need for Speed Most Wanted.

FINAL FANTASY VII:ADVENT CHILDREN is a good one too.

Cowboy Bebop totally owns all.

Aside from that, I'd recommend Final Fantasy VIII (best), IV, and maybe IX.
I'd additionally recommend Seiken Densetsu 3 & 4, it's something different and a bit more peaceful to listen to.

Off-subject a bit, no one beats Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Antonio Vivaldi, Frederic Chopin, Franz Schubert, and Johann Sebastian Bach. =D

Just off the top of my head: Chrno Crusade, Rathcet & Clank series, and Arjuna, even though that was an odd anime, it had great music.

in Anime OST's: Witch Hunter Robin OST 1, .Hack\\sign OST 1, Noir OST 1, Madlax OST 1 & 2, BoogiepopPhantom OST.

Game OST's: Vagrant Story OST, Chrono Cross OST (EXCELLENT!), Parasite Eve OST 1, Any Tenchu OST (specially Tenchu:Stealth Assasins OST), Xenosaga II OST.

I can't remember more by the moment, I hope you'd like this music.

I think the music to Sonic Adventures 1 (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/178), Sonic Adventures 2 (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/177) and Sonic heroes (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/950) are some of the best from that series. Highly recommended! :angel:

Anyway... I would recommend anything from Nobuo Uematsu (final fantasy), Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Cross), Michiru Yamane (Castlevania), Joe Hisaishi (movies like Spirited away or Howl's moving castle), Yuki Kajirua (Xenosaga and many anime), Yoko Kanno... man! there are so many, it all depends or your personal tastes. Because if you are a bit crazy (like me -jeje-) Try and listen some from Akira Yamaoka and silent Hill series, some of them are good (I like Heaveni Night's tracks).
