What are some of everybody's favorite locations in this game? I rather enjoy the Phon Coast. The music that plays there is the same music that plays when you first board the Strahl early-on in the game on-route to Bhujerba. I love this theme --- it gives me such a wonderful feeling of high adventure and excitement. I love the look of the landscape and there's some pretty fun goings-on at the Hunters' Camp. And it's fun to battle around the Phon Coast too, or pick up a rogue chocobo if you're just passing through.
Speaking of Bhujerba, it's another great city. Nice look overall and some important plot-points.
Of course, there's Rabanastre. Definitely love that town. The Moogling, obviously (which should have been in every major city) and it's also the home of Clan Centurio. Plus, it has a lot of fun secrets to explore and is such a major focal point for events of the game.
And, finally, the Port at Balfonheim. Arrr!

I chose the Salikawood. It may only be for the design, tranquility and music, but that's what I enjoyed. I thought it was beautiful in there and with all the smaller, generally friendly foes running around, it made traveling very easy. Plus, you have a small dedication to the Moogles when you first arrive...gotta love that!

I like the stilshrine of mirium. When you first enter before getting the sword and the statues come to life i thought that was pretty cool, like the music to.
Also the Eyrut Village, with all those sexy ass viera bitch's walking around is a good location.

I chose the tombs but because my favorite spot was not amongst the list and thats the Village of the Viera. Yeah I could have picked somewhere else, but....

The Vieras village, I forget the name of it now.

It's Eruyt Village. I probably should have put it on the poll. But it only allows ten options and I personally have an intense dislike of that village, so that's probably why it didn't end up on there.
Say what you will, but I think the Royal City of Rabanastre & Lowtown are where it's at. It's got good music, it's bustling with people, it's a cool place to just walk around and chill.

Yeah, Eruyt village did kind of suck. It was small with nothing to do in it. But I just like the hidden village in a forest setting.

Yeah, Lowtown had one of my favorite musical pieces in the game. I liked the people down there cause many of them had some interesting persepectives on Vayne. Plus Old Dalan with his strange pet...rabbit/cat was usually good for a story.

I'm with Agent here - the village has some nice scenery, aside from the occupants, but the tone set by the Viera makes you feel unwelcome which really turned me off to it.
My vote is for Rabanstre/Lowtown, though admittedly I haven't been to the Pharos yet. When I started the game, I spent hours just walking around Rabanastre exploring the streets and talking to the people - not that I feared missing anything at that point, it's just that I wanted to get myself in the mindset of Vaan who was obviously your lead character then.
A big part of the FF series for me is wrapping my head around the lead character's mentality as that's typically going to set the mood for the rest of the storyline - it helps me to get involved in the game if that makes sense.
Anyway, Rabanastre/Lowtown plays a key part in the storyline (at several points) and is a waypoint for many of the sidequests, not to mention that it is home to some of the more interesting characters in the game. It was well layed (laid, sp?) out, has a very eclectic feel, and serves as a great example of rich vs. poor, powerful vs. weak, etc. that really sets the tone for the rest of the story (at least to where I'm at now).
Comments on other locations voted for so far:
- Phon Coast: very nice scenery and music at that point in the game, however the enemies weren't up to par. Also, after visiting Tchita Uplands and Ozmone Plains the three of them just felt like each was an offshoot of the other.
- Salikawood: very disappointing. Enemies were too weak, paths were too linear, and other than the surprising King Bomb it didn't offer much to pique the imagination.
- Tomb of Raithwall: cool - the Demon Walls were awesome at that point in the game, the ability to get the Demonsbane sword and the axe drops from the Flans along with the first (to my knowledge) areas hidden from the map just made that place extremely interesting at that point. I think the fact that an area as intricate and involved as that following the mundane Westersands added to its appeal, but regardless, it was a great area to explore early in the game.
- Stillshrine of Miriam: intriguing, but for that point in the story it didn't live up to what the Tomb of Raithwall offered when you compare timelines. It just seemed like it was trying to mimic the appeal of Raithwall's Tomb but didn't get there.
C'est tout!

EDIT: Wow, didn't realize that was so lengthy - sorry if I put anyone to sleep :)

I liked the feywood for a lanscape all the fog and mist makes for a great ambience
for a town most likely Rabanastre because it felt alive and bustling plus clan centurino
I hated archades though the it was small crammped and the NPCs were snobs

Yeah, I have a general distaste for Archades too, although not everybody there was bad. Some of them were genuinely good people, but a lot of them were annoying or stuffy or both. And there were no moogles.

I agree with Archades as well, too many snobs.

Really? I found Archades to be one of the more interesting places. I really liked the contrast of Old Archades and Archades. The two were set against each other very nicely, especially since the creators utilized the bridge (crossing water) as a way to set them apart.
I liked talking to the people in Old Archades because just like the folks in Lowtown, they all had very strong opinions about Archades and the Imperial Army. As for the people in Archades and the side quest for "chops", I couldn't stand that. As Agent and Irinicus pointed out, they were very snobby. Not at all fun to talk to. Fortunately, we do get significant story development involving Cid and nethicite.
I agree that Archades felt very cramped. For something that was supposed to be such a grand city, I think that Rabanastre had a more regal design. The streets in Archades were small and too crowded. But, I loved most of the fashion designs that the women wore. Gorgeous gowns (I'm a girl...what can I say? haha). Though I can't say the same for the men, they were pretty ridiculous in my eye.
PS - And there are moogles! The Dancing Eight, or whatever they were called, in Old Archades. I loved them!!!

I must have this missed this "Dancing Eight." I'll have to take a look around for them. And I agree about Old Archades --- I think were were both thinking more of the main town.

They are by the bridge to Archades in Old Archades if I am correct and they are cute and they do a lil dance too.
Alexandria12

Yep, you're correct. There's also a disturbing backstory as to why they're there. You have to talk to a yellow seeq wandering around in Old Archades as well as a few folks that stand around the moogles.

I chose the Other Dungeons option, thinking in particular about the Necrohol of Nabudis. It might not be terribly attractive, but I have an affinity for ruined castles or cities. It stirs my imagination, wondering how grand it might've looked back when it was inhabited (since the game never showed Nabidus in its prime). It's also a good levelling up spot early in the game (Nihopalaoa abuse, but that's another story) and had some interesting boss fights.
And Fury was mildly amusing. I like imagining the embarrassment of a party dying against something that doesn't even come up to waist height.
I picked Bhujerba. Usually with any given FF title I can easily name my favourite location. Not so with FFXII...took some time to think about it, and even then I kind of settled on Bhujerba. I don't really like visiting it much, but it's kind of pretty there.
Rabanastre and Lowtown are just annoying as hell to me, because of the sucky music.

Rabanastre is definitely my favourite place because of the definite light hearted atmosphere.
