hi
is there anywhere in the game you can find a consistent supply of ether potions? So far they've only been in random chests.
Thanks

Not that I know of. I usually just buy 'em. One of the things I like to keep 99 of, just in case.

oh, I just assumed they weren't for sale.

Huh, Just Whatever? Where do you buy them? There's no place to buy Ethers.

And the reason is --- if you could, it would totally nerf the difficulty of the game because then you could do pretty much unlimited Quickenings. What about you on about, Just Whatever?

I was only in there once, but I believe the secret merchant in the Necrohol of Nabudis sells ethers. Can anyone confirm that?

Albel

agent0042 is right. but if there is I bet they're expensive.

Bene --- that's possible. I never met that merchant. But by that point, a single Ether wouldn't help nearly as much when it came to restoring your overall Mist Charge. But for the most part, obviously, it wouldn't make sense to have most merchants selling Ethers in this game.

Damn... I'm not sure what I was thinking. Maybe too eager to be the first to help? What I MEANT was that I like to keep a good supply of zodiac spears. I never like to have less than 99 of those. I buy as many as I can afford. Zodiac spears and ribbons. Keep 99 of each at all times if you can.

Keep a good supply of Zodiac spears? Do you even play the game?

I think Just Whatever must be smoking something. Welcome to the boards, Daxin.

On Topic: Same here - I like using the technick "throw extremely rare expensive shit" in conjuction with the Zodiac Spear to kill high level enemies on a regular basis, then I cast "Reverse" on the enemy and wrap them in "Ribbons" repeatedly - I beat Omega Mark XII in three moves thanks to this method. you CAN buy ether in the Necrohol of Nabudis. don't know the price.

Agent0042

Yeah, I figured that might be possible. It goes back to what I said really about it not making that much difference at that point.

A convient shop that sells ether's would be very helpful.
To bad I haven't found any shops that sell any. u_u

you can buy ethers from the hidden baknamy merchant in the Necrohol and theyre like 300 gil each....i bought like 99 ethers for around 10,000 gil.

Egg
01-08-2007, 09:04 PM
Ummm 99 ethers at 300 gil each would come out to 29,7000 gil. x_O
Is that the only place you can find them?

lol...i suck at math, obviously.

my prices might be wrong, but i know the ethers arent too expensive....and that is THE only place you can buy them.

Agent0042

The figure you are both looking for is 27000 gil. Probably a pittance at that point in the game.

At least I know someone got it.

99 Ethers at 300 gill each.

100(300) - 300= 30,000-300=29,700 gil

I think Egg just accidentally added an extra zero. Even the comma is in the right place.

Daxin's math is, I confirm, correct. My math was... close, but I'm afraid slightly off. Chalk it up to lack of sleep or something...

Either way, totally a token amount at that point the game.

The merchant stops selling ethers once you clear Giruvegan, so be sure to hit him up before you leave for the Feywood.

Revaninja

He stops but after Pharos he sells them again as well as Maxmallion Armor Mage shakenashi(Sp?) Scathe and the much loved Telekensis. He sell some of those things before Pharos such as Telekensis but all of it is avalibile at the end. Sorry Don't rememeber the price I farmed Gil all the Time so I usually don't care about price.

Agent0042
01-31-2007, 09:50 PM
By that point, none of it is that expensive, if you enter the Necrohol from the Deadlands and fight your way to him, you should have enough to by all the magicks and Telekinesis if you don't have it already.

Lol. It doesn't matter anymore, I'm up to level 65 with 250,000 gil to spend. :D

Ohh, so that's why that bastard doesn't have any Ethers and Scathe for me. I found him and hit him up for Ethers and Scathe but no luck. Now I know. On the same token...does anyone know where Flare and Renew are? I'm missing these two very helpful spells. Love to have them in my arsenal.

Revaninja

Try Dalamasca westersand where you get off the strahl when going to Raithwall, Eastersand the village where you can fish, and Barheim passage lightworks all the merchants in that area have one of the final level spells all of them are easy to get to just a pain to go through Barheim again is all.

Agent0042
02-02-2007, 06:52 PM
I hit all of those except the Estersand --- didn't know there was any secret magic there. Is Hastega there? I hope so, because I haven't found it yet. The Magick shop in Balfonheim also sells a bit of additional magicks after the Pharos.

Undead_Lives
02-02-2007, 11:40 PM
Yes, Hastega is in Dalmasce Estersand.
Just so you know, the Merchant at Raithwall's Tomb is no longer there, he moves to Balfonheim Port right beside the gate crystal, and sells teleport stones and Gyshal Greens.
Oh, and btw, the merchant sells Ethers for 222, not 300.
222*99=21,978 gil.

I'm just going to list right here the locations of a few of the harder to find, and more powerful magicks, because there seem to be a lot of questions about them. Syphon- inside airship, Scathe-Necrohol of Nabudis, Ardor-Barheim Passage, Flare- Balfonheim, Holy-Balfonheim, Renew-Dalmasca Westersand. That covers most of those later game spells I think. Hope thats useful.

By inside Airship I assume you mean Leviathan? or is there another one and I just picked it up without thinking since I have Runeweaver for my Den?

forevercloud
02-02-2007, 11:55 PM
You can get syphhon inside any of the airships I believe. Although it may only be on certain trips. I am referring of course to taking a leisure trip from the aerodrome. I guess I should have said that, but as far as I know it appears on any of the leisure ships along with bubble at a certain point through the game.

Undead_Lives
02-02-2007, 11:56 PM
Yes, it appears on any leisure trip, but only after the Pharos, I think.

Ah must of picked it up doing the DeathGaze hunt then I remeber checking the Booth and buying stuff but I was more focused on Don't have that buy 6 move on kill DeathGaze.

I'm not 100% sure when Syphon becomes available but I can say for certain that it's way before the Pharos. In my current game I've gone through Draklor, haven't been to the Feywood yet, and I've had Syphon for some time, just not sure when/where I got it.

Agent0042
02-03-2007, 05:06 AM
I seem to recall getting it pre-Pharos too.

mary_sonnie
02-03-2007, 05:18 AM
It's available after reaching Balfonheim - I'm not sure if it's available before that, as I never checked.

forevercloud
02-03-2007, 05:49 PM
Yea I remember I got it before the Pharos. Your best bet is to just fly on the airships every now and then, once you get a little ways through the storyline, if your trying to find it as quickly as possible.
