Erm... neutral? Some of them are pretty sucky, but stuff like Steal and Libra is good. And Telekinesis seems useful... except I never did find where to buy it on my first playthrough.

*sigh* They arent muhc fun.
I mean, some are quite usefull and others very cool, but then the rest, you just never use, or when you want to use them, they have no effect!
I prefer magic, and techniks occasionally, they can come in quite handy sometimes.

1000 Needles was one I had high hopes for, but it tends to miss most of the time, at least in my experience. And Revive is stupid --- in FFVIII, Revive brings you character back to life with no penalty, but in this game, it may as well be called "Sacrifice."

I agree, that was quite a ridiculous move.
I have never once used it.
May as well waste a Phoenix Down or just use Arise.

Techniks are ok when you need them i suppose but i dont use them often, 1000 needles is good for when you need to poach an enemy for a rare item, telekinesis is good and libra, i use charge when im low on MP and steal all the time but the others i hav'nt found a use for, Im sure their is though...

expose comes in handy for some bosses or marks. shear is sometimes effective. i once used travelor and that took off a whole bunch of HP. i do agree that most are lame.

How about not? Why do n00bs who can barely type insist on dragging up topics not in any way actually related to what the thread is about?

I agree. Expose and Shear can actually be very useful when used appropriately, and I typically equip my melee characters with a "foe = flying -> 1,000 Needles" gambit so I don't have to mess around with attack styles on they fly (no pun intended), though it does miss regularly when the character using it is equipped with a melee weapon. I've heard rumours of 1,000 Needles being more effective when you have a ranged weapon equipped but I haven't confirmed this myself.

I see you all dissing the 1000 needles. Well you all know better than me but I am quite new to the game, I have the license points for it and have "a bundle of needles" in my loot but does that still mean that I have to buy the Technick for 1000 needles? If SO where can i buy them, I tried to go up to Mosphoron Wastelands as heard i could get it there, but I could not go through Nalbina Fortress as the guards were sweeping and civilians could not get through. Any where else I could try and get it???? I am getting a little bored of killing cacti, wolves, hyenas, those things with the big stompy feet and the scarey bird people who are doing a lot of damage.

Steal is awesome. Great for Gil and Bazaar goods.

Libra is brilliant too. Just being able to see traps is a great help.

1000 Needles is great against flying enemies when you get it and it is usually more damage than you inflict on a normal enemy at that time too.

Charge is good with a "Self: MP<10% - Charge" gambit but personally my mp never really got that low.

There's a good trick with Stamp that instead of spending lots of time and mp putting status ailments on your chars (haste, protect etc) when preparing for a tough battle, just put them on one char and them stamp them onto the others.

Gil Toss is good to inflict an exact amount of damage.

And by the way, bunch of needles has nothing to do with 1000 needles, I thought that at first as well but it doesnt so you can just sell it. You can't get into the mosphoran highwaste until the story takes you there so its no use trying. It's still a great technick for that point of the game.

You can only get some items with Poach so it's worth using sometimes.

Expose and Wither are great against some of the tough later bosses.

And Revive is extremely good if you have one KO'd character and another with very low HP. That way, you only consume a small amount of HP to fully revive the KO'd char. Definately worth it, seen as your lowHP char was going to die soon anyway, but Arise is better later on.

Personally, I quite like technicks, and there's plenty of uses for them.

As far as I know, the soonest you can get into Mosphoran is after you finish the Tomb of Raithwall. Speak with July who's croutching behind a wall a short distance away from the guards Gibbs & Deweg (Biggs and Wedge :D). Rent a chocobo and ride it between them and they'll entertain you before hightailing it.

Bundle of Needles is just a loot item, has nothing to do with the technik.

Libra is obligatory, I always have it on.

Steal is fantastic. Specially in the early beginnings of the game. This provides a nice source of extra income. I always have gambits for steal. Party leader: Foe HP = 100% -> Steal and the others: Foe Nearest Visible -> Attack

Works like a charm.

I use Charge, but not very often, I do have a Gambit for it though. Self MP > 10% -> Charge. But I rarely run out of MP at all.

I love Revive, seriously. It has a notably short charge time, you expend no MP and if you have one character that's KO'd and one (maybe two?) others who are low on HP, I don't hesitate to use it. It's one hell of a trade-off compared to Arise. And importantly, Technicks always work, even when silenced.

Poach is okay for getting specific items, just set up a Gambit for it from time to time. Foe HP = Critical -> Poach. Be sure to do this for EVERYONE because experienced taught me that sometimes the Monster got killed before Poach was executed.

I never really use Traveler, Numerology or Hourology. Traveler can be fantastic though, but it requires you to often (and I do mean often) check how many steps you've taken. If you have taken between 900-999 steps, it does 9999 damage to all foes in range iirc.

Guess that's my two cents.

For whoever was asking telekinesis is available from the necrohol of nabudis, there is a hidden merchant there at the opposite end of the first level to the salika wood entrance. (he is in a room that doesn't show up on the map and you need to go into the corner and find the exclamation mark to get him out. He sells lots of other good stuff too like maximillians.

Getting back to the subject steal Libra pach and telekinesis are the ones I use often, although charge and 1000 needles are OK.

I'd like to clarify that you can't get Telekinesis until after Giruvegan, which is a shame as it would be really useful to get it that little bit earlier.

Yeah, and regarding 1000 Needles, one of the problems with it is that while you buy it from the Mosphoran Highwaste, I'm pretty sure it doesn't become available until after you've completed you've completed all the events on Mt. Bur-Omisace, when you basically have to head there if you haven't already.

After you defeat Judge Bergan, I'm not sure the merchant even appears until you've done that.

He does. He has Theif Cuffs if you hit him up after the Tomb of Raithwall, and that's exactly why I did. You may very well be right about 1000 Needles not being on sale until after Judge Bergan, becuase I remember being surprised at myself for not buying it when I got the Theif Cuffs. He might not have had it. I can't confirm that, though.
