I can't seem to figure out what to do at the very beginning of that place. The way stone is always asleep, I touched that dawn pedestal like 10 times already, and both of the side doors are locked... help please?

Make sure your party memeber has the Dawn Shard equiped. They kinda hint that to you... even though it took me about 4 or 5 touches to figure that one out.

I believe it has to be the party leader specifically that has the dawn shard equipped.

erm, that doesn't seem to work for me, you mean to someone with the dawn shard then touch the pedestal right..? I've tried that with every character and it still doesn't work. Are you thinking of a different spot? Just to clarify I'm in the first room of the stillshrine of miriam where theres a bunch of bats, those zombies appear whenever I touch the dawn pedestal, it has the way stone thats asleep and I haven't been any farther then that room.

well thats what you are supposed to do go "equip" the dawn shard on your character that you are controlling then touch the pedistal thats the only way it will work.

bur-ominesce(don't think I spelt that right) then I came to the shrine. Am I suppose to do something in that forest south of here. I thought they looked kinda hard so I just passed on by that.

Megaman, you equipped the dawn shard on your party leader, their MP went to 0, you touched the pedestal and zombies still appeared? I don't think anyone will be able to help you if that is the case...

^^ yeah, I've tried that quite a few times... I think I may have done something wrong early in the game, like not of got a special item, or missed someone I was suppose to talk to so i'm going to start over I guess.

try equipping the dawn shard on ashe and then touching the pedestal...with her as your party leader...it says the chosen one must wear the dawn shard so that is what i got from it...

I tried it with everyone one my characters, am I suppose to have larsa with me still..? I didn't try looking for him again when he left the party, I thought we were suppose to go on without him.

you are supposed to you touch it once and it should transport you to where you need to be then you begin to point all the other statues toward the center one and you are done with the puzzle....i have no idea what you have done wrong...and i can help you no further than that

I guess I'll just start over then and make sure to talk to everyone and do everything this time...

getting desperate here, but maybe once you have equipped the dawn shard on your party leader, read the inscription again so that you "officially" get the clue about using the dawn shard. Maybe there is a link between reading the inscription clue and activating the pedestal...

does he even know how to switch party leaders? seriously i don't think its supposed to matter who equips it. but if it MUST, just use vaan. that's who i used. make sure he's leader. LET ME REPEAT.

MAKE SURE WHOEVER HAS THE DAWN SHARD EQUIPPED IN THEIR ACCESORIES IS THE LEADER WITH THE LITTLE RED FLAG ON THEIR FACE IN YOUR PARTY!!!

Right, well I tried it again Tact, to no avail, yeah that definently doesn't work.
And yes I know how to change the party's leader, seriously I've equipped Vaan with it, made him the leader, then read the inscription, and finally touched the pedestal, and then the zombies appeared.
I have already tried that exact same thing with everyone,vaan, ashe, penelo, balthier, fran, and basch.

If you have any other ideas, I'm open, but for now I've started a new save.

the only other thing i could come up with is you've already been through the whole conversation with the old man and getting the sword before going to the stilshrine right? it includes the introduction of el cid-whatchamacallim, he has a spanish accent to him. (to make sure you've gone through the proper events and stuff)


and finally, your equipping the correct item right? i forgot the name of it. but it makes your magic go down to 0 when you equip it and i think (not sure) it makes it so you only take half damage from all elements.

Did you see the cutscene in bur-ominese or however you speel it. if not YOU HAVE TO GO TO THIS PLACE THAT HAS A BIG DOOR GO INSIDE AND THEN YOU WILL SEE THT ELDER GUY OR W.E THEN YOU TALK TO HIM AND THEN YOU GO TO STILLSHRINE OF MIRIAM. if you didnt do that then THATS why it wont work. Try it out if you already did that then i have noooo i dea whats wrong.

That's not the case because you wouldn't be able to get in the stillshrine if you didn't visit the elder guy. I know because I tried it.

As for the original poster - are you sure you're touching the pedestal first and not the way stone? The pedestal is right near the entrance. You have to touch that with the dawn shard first to activate the way stone.

Hes touching the right one apparently since the zombies are attacking him everytime he touches it. Either he's a liar and is enjoying watching us try and come up with an answer that isn't there, or perhaps its some glitch with his game?

If so it's gonna suck for him when he gets back to the stilshrine in his new save and has the same problem lol.

I am having the same problem as him. I equipped Ashe with the Dawn Shard, touched the pedastal near the entrance, and oh look, zombies....

Weird. That sounds very glitchy to me. Equipping Ashe with the Dawn Shard and touching the pedestal is exactly what I did and once I did that, it transported me. No zombies. Have you tried putting Ashe at the head of the party? That's what I did.

Anyone can do it, it just has to be the leader of your party who equips the Dawn Shard. I just equiped Balthier with it, 'cause he's weak and I dont care if he doesnt have any mp :)

I think Alvinz has it. For those that are still having trouble with this, just make sure you equipped it to your party leader.

Agreed. If you look and see your MP down to zero, and it's the mamber that you have control of, it should work. I can't imagine having this much trouble with it.

I'm just taking a shot in the dark, but have you been to the back of that first room where there's another pedestal? If not, go there and try touching it. I believe that if you go back there and touch that pedestal before gaining appropriate access to the rest of the Stillshrine you get a message to the effect of "you can't do this yet". Once you do that head back to the front of the room, try setting Ashe as your party leader, equip her with the Dawn Shard, read the inscription on the pedestal at the front of the shrine, then touch it (or whatever the appropriate action is).

I know that when I explore new areas I never take the first door/pedestal/etc. that I come to - I always explore and take the last option first, which is why I know I got a message like that from the pedestal at the rear before being able to reach the rest of the shrine. It might be a long shot, but considering everything you've tried (if you haven't already) it might be worth the effort. Hope that helps :)
