This would be better off in General Final Fantasy because Square didn't mention anything about releasing any other games other than Final Fantasy. =P
Well, they prolly will anyway. That's great, i don't need a PS2 now.

Well, I didn't have any plans to buy a next gen console for a while anyway. This news keeps my options more open. I do want to continue playing the Final Fantasy games, and if there are plans to port it over to other systems, there's a good chance that the PC will get the games aswell. This'll save me forking out money on a new console. It just means I need a faster processor... And more RAM... And a new motherboard... Maybe it IS cheaper to buy a new console.
Woohoo! Back I am, yes, back! This is the coolest news ever. Well, no, not quite the coolest ever, but it is DAMN COOL. I really hope that they'll port FFX, personally, although I guess they're more likely to make original stuff. Ah well. For now, it's just nice to know they're back together.

This is really good news for Nintendo lovers ofcourse. Finally the game devolper is back on to the compagny xD
I didn't expect it in a long term though, but then again.. Things like this happen (which can have a damn good result ^___^)

Hmm...I can see a few downsides to this -
1 - I have to buy a GameCube. I don't have that kind of cash
and
2 - Final Fantasy spin-offs are usually rubbish... Mystic Quest, anyone?
But if FFU turns out to be cool, I'm definately happy. But FFX-XII belong to Sony.

D'oh! I bought a PS2 just a couple of months ago just so I'd be able to play FFX! Oh well, it brings back a lot of good memories of the good ol' days.

Mystic Quest is one game. Tactics is another ;)
honestly.
and mystic quest was developed for first time players of RPGs and children.
and it features better gameplay than most FFs as well.

Talking about FF spin offs.
Dont forget that the Seiken Densetsu series were FF spin offs in the beginning... with moogles and chocobos and stuff, you know.
Anyway. No need to worry. First lets see what games will be made... Ive read they will still make games for PS2 as their prime console.
Lets wait and see...

Pft! I'm sure Square left Nintendo long ago for a reason. My guess is because of the Nintendo 64. Well, IMHO...GameCube isnt that much better...just take a look at how poor it's selling in Japan...does Squaresoft want to lose more money? I'm sticking with my beloved PS2!.... *hides*

The GameCube is actually doing very well in Japan right now. It was selling poorly for the first few months because it hadn't gotten a lot of games out. As soon as Melee came out it started doing much better, and hasn't slowed down. In fact Animal Forest + crushed all of the Xbox's launch games, and it had already been out for a few weeks O_O
Xbox didn't sale enough systems for it to compete in the top 10 really.
Man, the Game Cube is wicked! X-Box is gay as hell. Nintendo now have Rare, Sega, Squaresoft, Capcom and themselves. That's the best lineup.

:D This is great news. Now i don't need a ps2. Also, this was on ign.com as the front-page article for 2 days, so i'm guessing it's true. I can't remember which site it's off, but i heard that the new FF would be called final fantasy N and would come out for gamecube and game boy advance with link-up capabilities. But i hope Final fantasy unlimited is still going to be made, it looked cool. Also, this will please a lot of you, final fantasy tactics is coming out for the game boy advance. Final fantasy on gamecube is definitely a good thing people. Square getting back to it's nintendo roots, the gamecube's far superior power and the sales will all be good. In case you guys didn't know, this development came from the Q fund, a fund made to Square by retiring ninty president Yamauchi-San. Oh yeah, one last thing. Did anyone say final fantasy tactics 2? I know i did :D.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was nice as far as the battle system went. No random battles in it! The Story Line and Chairactor Development though was crap.

whoa there, Xbox is pretty sweet, even if it is only Halo. Nah, I take that back, it has a lot of good games, only it doesn't compare with Gamecube.
Anyway, this is possibly the best thing in History. YAY!!!!!!!! I hope they make remakes of ff7, ff8 (maybe....), and ff9. I also hope they port ffX and 11 and 12 and all the rest!!!!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok.... i guess Final Fantasy Unlimited would be ok, and its better than nothing.......

Hmm... but does Sony still own nearly 60% of Square? o_O

I hear all this about not needing a PS2 now. Where does this come from? Squaresoft had already said that the PS2 is still their main focus. PS2 still has the next two Final Fantasy games and Kingdom Hearts. The only game that I've heard of is Final Fantasy Tactics for GBA..which I can just download instead of paying $60+ for the GBA and the game.
which I can just download instead of paying $60+ for the GBA and the game.
If you're stealing games, why bother owning a PS game at all? just copy them all.

What's this "still?" Dude, I don't know where you're getting this from, but Sony never owned 60% of Square. Ever. They recently bought 19%. That's all.
