haha yes i do mean FFX. i see a resemblance, mostly by the texture of the environtment
one could compare many regions of FF games with each other. I personally don't see a resemblence (Ozmone isn't a big, vast valley), although I do see a resemblence in other regions. For example, the Sandsea, where there's all those giant mechanisms that you have to walk across, reminds me of the desert exit of the FFVIII Prison where Squall has to maneuver across that corkscrew machine. And that Panimina Drift reminds me a whole hell of a lot of Mt. Gagazet (right next to Mt. Bar-Omisace, plus the music is of similar style imo).
There's only so many types of terrain that the designers can come up with.

yes exactly the texture of calm lands and ozmone is very alike just because the size of each is not the same does not mean they dont have any resemblance

just so you know, i was not saying its a bad thing , i like it. the question was has anyone seen similarities, NOT if anyone thinks its bad there are things similar to other FF games in FFXII
the original post was do the ozmone planes REMIND anyone of the calm lands so dont try to make an argument over something so stupid

yeah I've noticed some similarities between them, and the tchita uplands are very similar to calm lands in some way, and the temples you se scattered around remind me of the save points in Shadow of the Colossus (great game btw)
and have you seen the intro of zelda: twilight princess? it's very similar to SotC too, hope it's good (but never as good as FFXII)
I think great games inspire nostalgic producers and artists

No .. Ozmone doesn't remind me of the Calm Lands of FFX at all, in any way, shape, or form. Where do you get this idea?
Well.. I'm sorry.. they're both outdoors and both have dirt. my bad.

well paramina rift is just like the frost lake part in FFX -_-
I think every game has to put up with some stereotypes of places you can go: the mountain, the desert, the jungle, the haunted place, the cave, the seashore, the snow, etc. Not that it's a bad thing, but naturally they will all resemble one another.

HAHA!! Not even close.
Paramina Rift reminds more of Quifim of FFXI than anything from FFX.

i think i agree with dtpena except im not sure if its the lake (its been awhile since i played X) it reminds me of the part you fight seymour in X in the mountains or whatever

he's talking about the lake.
The part in the mountains is after you meet up with the Cat people just before reaching Zanarkand.

well my memory sucks, I think I was talking about the mountains, just thought it was all like linked, that you get to the lake, then the mountains where you fight seymour... my fault, I really tried to forget about FFX (too linear to me)

FFX was a good game, but I agree it was way too linear. One thing I like about FXII is that it doesn't feel linear at all.
300zxJ
11-11-2006, 02:24 AM
by linear you mean there is only a one way to go through the entire game?
Gilthanos
11-11-2006, 02:28 AM
By linear i mean you can't stray off the beaten path. In FFX you don't get access to side quests until you get airship. That's near hte end of the game. Kinda lame. FFXII you can start going your own way from the get go.

ok thats what i thought you meant just makin sure, ya that was one thing i did not like about FFX
