Im on the ring wyrm and it is the first hunt ive really had trouble with. I tried beating it with my 3 main characters (vaan, ashe, fran at lv 25/26) and my other 3 at like lv 12. All characters have all 3 quickenings, but i only have the 1st summon.

My strategy has been to use have my tank on the oposite side as the others so that the breath attack only hits him. Generally I can keep him alive just fine with heals and get to occasionally attack with my healers as well (1 main healer, and 1 attacker/back up healer, i also have larsa as a guest). The problem is some times he gets like 3+ attacks and it can really hurt.

He uses a restore that heals him for a shit load when he gets around 50% which really sucks and quickenings seem to take off nothing (should i use each one seperate or should i chain them all together? I have been chaining, seems to be alot less effective then it was on the previous marks). Its hard to keep belias up (he is vaans summon, and vaan has limited healing, just cure (he has about 32 mapic power).

Anyways, I really want the reward (icebrand) and just cant seem to beat him.

I think I will try using my 3 backups at start and use their quickeings then go to the tanking method with vaan. But eventually he will get a consecutive attack and kill me.

Anybody know any secrets on this fight, or am I just too low level?

Using 3 of your reserve party to use Quickening is a good way.
Then change to your main party.

Here is a trick.
Use your tanker, for instant Vaan.
Have him attack it and the Wrym will attack Vaan, right?
Use Vaan to lure him to fight head. In other word, have the Wyrm looking just Vaan alone.
Then, you other characters will attack it from behind.
The purpose is to make the Wyrm's attack to hit Vaan alone and not the whole party.

Keep on with this. It will only use Restore once.
Have everyone use Cura when HP is below 50%. (Cure if no Cura is available.)

Low level? I don't think so if you have pretty equipment.
If you still have problem. It would be best if you tell me where are you inthe story too.

I have been doing that very thing with vaan to avoid the breath attack hitting the rest of my party.

I just got an upgrade in my gear so that should help, but im not sure If im willing to spend another 20 minutes on losing ><.

Boss fights in this game can take a long time, thats for sure.

cant remember the name for sure but some kind of holy mountain? or something like that.
its really icy/snowy. basically right after the viera town.

This is really the only boss ive had trouble with (except for trying to take on avion w/o the flower, lol that was not fun at all)

Im basically just using heal <70% with my healer (ashe) and heal <50% with fran otherwise attack. And I use regen, protect, if everybody is healed fully. The problem isnt staying healed, its just that eventually I mess up or he gets lucky with a long chain of attacks.

Larsa sometimes uses a high-potion which is nice too.

btw do quickenings get better as u level up, or is a level 3 quickening the same at lv 10 and at lv 99?

Quickening deals more as you level up. But its just much improvement.

You have Larsa too? Thats a good help.
You are already around the Holy Mountain?
That means you should have the weapon DeathBringer which is stronger than IceBrand.
Or even Demonsbane which is slightly weaker than IceBrand.
If you don't have either one of those sword, I suggest you level up more.

And are you having the magick, Cura?

Last advice?
Quickening it before it dies.
And good luck!

Actually that guy was kinda hard. I ended up putting three quicks into him and I also fought him hand to hand for awhile. That battle lasted awhile.

ya, i took him down last night at lv 29/28/28. was much easier this time because my tank was dealing twice as much damage and taking half as much. Huge difference from when i tried 5 lvs ago.

LOL he gave me a fight and I am 10 levels higher than you are nines. I chained Quick's once though, I prefer hand to hand and magic use, and speaking of that, Blind works WONDERFUL against him, I had him blinded for half the fight.
