i have a question about materia that people not in your party have equipped. they all gain a little exp, but not the maximum that they could be getting. but what if i equip all the people who are not in my party with materia? will that materia gain ap?

I don't think so. I could be wrong, but the only way you can gain ap for your materia is to equip them on your party members. I'm 99% sure that materia equipped on people that aren't in your party won't gain any ap.

You need to be in battle if you want mataria to gain. Mataria on party members who don't go into battle won't get any AP.
I just tryed and my people didn't gain any ap from outside battle.

I tried that a while ago and it doesn't work, so if you want to level up your materia, just keep fighting Magic pots and Movers....and equip double and triple growth weapons.

They're both in the northern crater (on the last disc)
Magic pots are pots and you have to give them an elixer in order to beat them properly. Movers are red 3d dots which bounce around really fast, defeat them and you get lot's of AP
Yea, you can steal elixers from one of the enemys where the movers and magic pots are, but still movers are easy and give the most ap. You can find them deep in the creator, after your party splits up.

Movers give you 800 ap a piece and you fight 3 at a time (total 2400 ap). And a Magic Pot gives you 1000 ap a pot and you can fight up to two of them......and if you have the w-item materia you can use the item duplication trick to get elixers.
