FFXI is about the only MMO that I've really played, although I have also played a bit of Ragnarok Online, but got frustrated with the lack of in-game help to tell me exactly what the controls were and quit while still in the Beginner's Area.

So FFXI is now the only MMO that I play, so I guess that would probably be my favourite.

I mean because either you have to pay money and that is bad but the game could be good or the game sucks and it is free.

Do you know the definition of a MMOG?

Why aren't Diablo II and Guild Wars MMORPGs? Easy, people host their OWN servers and are limited to only a certain amount of characters in that server. Battle.net does not equal MMO gaming, you login to battle.net with your account and then set up your own server from the chat area. The difference with Guild Wars is, the chat areas are actually game servers where people can trade with eachother and what not. But when you start a mission, you dive into your own server with a limit of 7 others besides you. The key factor is, that it doesn't matter how many people there are in your game, you use your OWN bandwith. This is why there are no fees to play.

In real MMORPGs, like EVE, WoW, FFXI and others, you pay fees because you are using bandwith from the company who hosts these games. They use up extreme amounts to host an entire world where thousands of people are simultaniously online and are able to interact with the world as much as with eachother.

My so far most enjoyed MMORGP was to be Horizons. I don't know how many people have actually played this game, but the job/craft system was simply sublime. The world was vast and beautiful. They had awesome ideas about how a game should be, but they really lacked the nesecary funds to produce a truly awesome game. They don't have a huge name like Blizzard for example. Which is sad, because the game certainly was new and refreshing and simply awesome.

Thats my Favoritte. However I got into GWs for quite a while, bored off quickly, it was fun though and I have some where over 1mil in gold and many wonderful items sitting in a my account.

P.S. I never cheated on Gws, and at most used MH in Diablo.

Probably Ryzom... Oh I could go on and on. I miss the game, because my computer is stupid and runs it not so well as it used to. Ryzom is cool in that it relies on hardcore roleplaying to make up the events and everything, instead of setting a straight mission and let you do monster bashing. Lots of WoW refugees get addicted to Ryzom (and never go back, thank god), and enjoy it....its only for hardcore players though. Don't expect to get much out of it if you're a dungeon crawler junkie. I could go on and on, but I'd rather you just look it up....

Oh and BTW, R2 is released, where people who do like small missions can make their own for players to enjoy...and not just missions but places like resorts, beaches....etc etc etc....

Go look it up. Save yourselves from the slavery of wall to wall monster bashing.

maplestory :D

risk your life and risk your life 2. (i play 2 since the original is p2p)

gunz was awesome until everyone started hacking. i was so freaking pro in that game it wasn't even funny. i made hackers get angry as i beat them. i always got 1st place in every room i went into. everyone thought i hacked to which i would just reply "thanks, i don't but thanks for the compliment". it was great. i can't stand it no more though. hackers are gay.

and that's prolly it. i always like to try any new one i can get my hands one just to see how it is and compare it to my favorites and see how the controls are.

the things that will immediately throw me off and make me NOT want to play that mmo anymore is...

1. if its a 3d mmo, it better use wasd controls. and A and D had BETTER be for strafing left and right respectively. if this is not done, and i can't change it in options, i'll ditch the game no matter how "popular" or "awesome" it is. its the most effeciently logical controle scheme to have ever been created. anyone who doens't use it is a fucking asshole idiot who needs to get kicked in the balls.

2. if it can't have number 1. then it must have diablo II controls. where the moust does most everything. those controls are also top notch and great. any small deviation away from the logical is a big step towards getting trashed!

3. great anti-hack tools. cuase i hate noob gay hackers with no life.

4. if its kiddy themed, they should lay back on the cashshops a bit and allow more in game rather than through purchase. i notice everyone is now trying to cash in on the cashhop craze cause it prolly pays out more than any monthly subscription could ever dream of getting. this is great. but you can't just leave the non-paying players out on a ditch with crappy items. you have to be fair. and prolly just make the purchasable items to be only show but not give too much in game advantages.

that's all i can think of for now. i've tried so many mmo's that don't have these things. i just can't stand playing them. but at the same time they have the greatest potential cause of how much work you can see has been put into the story by the creators, only to have it just suck mechanically. oh well.

Gunz wasn't that bad, was it? But I played pretty early on where there wasn't a single hacker in sight ^_^.

Right now I'm downloading Rappelz. It looks pretty sweet and has pretty rave reviews. But the file size is a bit large, 1.67GB. But hey that means lots of in game content, right? Don't know if my crappy computer can handle it though. It's said to have as good graphics as Lineage 2, but I guessed my computer did alright on that game (private server, paying for online games for me = blehhhh).

lol when I downloaded it, and tried to install it, it goes something like missing files or some bullshit like that. I'm not wasting another 1.67GB! That's like worth nearly 10 episodes of Anime! And I do have a download limit :(.

Oh well, I am hopefully getting Company of Heroes from eBay for free of course (I have my sources...)But my comp is probably too crap to play it, but it will manage. It will mange! With the lowest settings and shit. I always loved the RTS games, like Warcraft, Starcraft, Dawn of war... No space combat, though it is in the works for the next update.

Pros: They tend to vary between users...but IMO, the skill system favors hardcore players and not power-levelers.

Cons: Permanent double rates for everything makes it no grind whatsoever, making the game highly dependent on gaming skill and your current hardware.

If your friends dont play, you can easily find a guild that is cool and very helpful. I do have to admit that wow gets very laggy at times in highly populated areas. That has never happened while I was playing FF11 for example. Hopefully it can be fixed one day.

Toontown Online. I was in since the LE test and am one of the last few international players on the US server since it closed it's doors to new international subscribers years ago and other international players on the server have since moved on either to localized versions of the game or stopped altogether. Although I really doubt if I'll still be on once my aunt's Visa expires next year. I really don't feel like playing it anymore anyway. It was fun back in LE when the community was small but helpful, but now... *sigh*.

I was also unwillingly dragged into playing MapleSEA (Maple Story South East Asia version) by my cousins. I want to play on Global, but they won't let me just because I'm in Malaysia. They actually allow kill-stealing on SEA. Can you believe it? Reporting ksing activities to a GM is futile in SEA. I want to play on global, damnit! the whole p2p thing doesn bode well for me, since there are some games that I think are better then the ones you have to play for anyway.

WoW? na, I dont like it that much. Got to Lv. 62 with my mage, but it gets annoying that it's really unballanced like hearing that red pally are broken, so when you try to fight them, you really stand no chance. Then getting killed by whoever the opponent is because I run out of spells to use isn't fun anymore. Pvp in that games is kinda boring for me, and not that fun, and I get bored unless I'm playing with friends.

Maplestory is the game I play the most since I started the game first, though the population of people can be idiot sometimes, I can atleast get by training all day without having to look for people to help me most of the time. Got a lv 141 FP archmage on broa by the name of onthra, so that's should clue you in on how much time i spent on that game.

One that I'm really addicted to though, is called Air Rivals, which is a 3D MMOG SciFi flying simulation (copied from the website cause i couldnt remember all that) that's really well done for a free game. If you havent seen it, you might wanna check it out at http://www.airrivals.net/ cause everyone wants to blow something up with missles XD
