ive decided i really like regular non-musical theatre music that sounds kinda theatrical. ie the dresden dolls and panic! at the disco. do you have any suggestions for other songs/artists that sound sorta theatrical?

I have a friend that's totally gay for that group. Pure obsession.

There are a quite few people who get obsessive over them. They are pretty great though and put on an awesome live show. I am wondering what the next record is going to be like though because they recently left one of the coolest labels ever for Capitol.

Even though it is a musical, you should get the Hedwig and the Angry Inch soundtrack if you don't have it already. If you like the Dresden Dolls, I'd imagine you'd like a lot of it.

"Schizowave sounds like Bjork having sex with Tom Waits."

"my baby" and "way out" (gogo russian) are the best two there.
if you're just referring to the cabaret aspect of dresden dolls (kinda hard to tell, since dresden dolls sounds like a lot of different things), there's a lot of it out there. it's pretty much a genre. I never looked TOO much into it before just because it seemed much better taken in small quantities.
http://www.projekt.com/projekt/product.asp?sku=PRO00176 may be worth checking out as well. although projekt is queer. it's barely a step above metropolis. D:

mercymachine (cdbaby them) are a great group, whether they're theatrical per se i don't know, but they're certainly very lush with an immense soundscape.

For the bands and that I'd have to suggest something like some woszy bands like Fall out boy, or Relient K.
I personally like Avneged Sevenfold, I can say some of they're music isn't that good but songs like the wicked end, betrayed, or mia is good songs.

Really dude, you're more suggested bands in general rather than bands fitting the description.

unless If I misunderstood the question, wonderbra was asking for songs/artists that sound sort of theatrical. I just suggested some bands that sound similar to Panic! at the disco.

So I remembered another band and already posted about them in another thread but I thought I should mention them here as well. The Hellblinki Sextet are a pretty good example of HxC gypsy pirate cabert music.
