Ok I am in quite a dilemna. It has been quite some time since I played the original Final Fantsay on the NES. I currently picked up Dawn of Souls on the GBA.
I pretty much forgot most of the sequence of events, so I have been slowly progressing throught the game.

Now, to the problem I am facing.

I just completed the part where you must enter the Earth Cavern and restore the Earth Crystal. Ok I did that. Following the completion of this, there is a small clip of a door being revealed in some cave.
So then I totally forgot where to go, but I eventually found this cave. As I go through this newly opened door, I enter a place called the "Earth Shrine."
Upon entering I took quick note that there is no door back out. So I went through figuring I would evntually be able to leave.
The random battle monsters were quite easy so I felt confident I was doing something right.
But by the time I reached Basement 5 of the Earth Shrine, there are 4 door I can enter.
Each door led to a boss battle, that I lose in miserably. The problem is that it is impossible for me to defeat ANY of these bosses and there are no random battles at this point in the Earth Shrine.

So I searched on Gamefaqs, and every Walkthrough I read said I was supposed to go to some Lake?
But I cannot get out of the Earth Shrine due to there is no exit!
Is there any possible way to leave or defeat these series of bosses?

Or will I have to start all over?

I've never heard of that particular dungeon before. However, I do know where you're *supposed* to be. That "lake" would be Cresent Lake, due to its shape. There's a town there, and you'll get a nifty new way to travel, which'll allow you to restore the next Crystal. Cresent Lake also has your level 6 spells and some nifty weapons/armor.

edit: Cresent Lake is on the East side of the world map--the closest dock-thingy is a short walk away--a walk that won't be without random battles.

You're referring to the Earthgift Shrine between Cornelia and the Chaos Shrine. You can't leave the Shrine without defeating a boss, so my advice would be to try either the 2-Headed Dragon or Ahriman, which are the bosses on the upper part of level 5. 2-Headed Dragon, in the upper left room, uses a lot of physical attacks against single party members and is very strong, but only has around 4,500 HP. Ahriman, in the upper right room, has 4,000 HP and its attacks are weaker, but it casts more spells. Strategy for both: If you have a Ninja, Red Mage, or Black Mage, you'll want to use them to cast Haste on your party members. If you have the Giant's Gloves, you should use it to cast Saber on your strongest attacker. Have your other party members heal and just keep attacking. If you found the Abyss Worm easy, then you should defeat either one pretty quickly.

I would go for the 2-Headed Dragon, since it gives you the Bard's Tunic. Ahriman just gives you a Dry Ether.

For some reason, it doesn't say that I replied to this thread =\

I think I will have to start a new game because I am only level 27. And there is no random battles here for me to level up.
All my physical attacks only do 40-60 damage. But the one Black Mage I have can do 150-200 damage.
So whenever any of the bosses use their "special moves" such as Earthquake or Thunderbolt, I always get wiped out.

If you die, you get transported to the entrance with one HP. It is not a game over.

Whenever I die, it takes me to the title screen.

In Earthgift Shrine? If that's the case, there's something wrong with your game.

Then obviously, he's not in the Earthgift shrine, he's in the Earth Cave where you go to fight the Earth Fiend, from the sounds of it. (That's where you go to restore the Earth Crystal, in the original version and the Playstation version.)
And in no version I've every played, was there ANYTHING with over 1000 hp. in that dungeon. Even Lich only has 450 HP. Unless they've totally butchered the game engine, level 20 should suffice to take the dungeon, however If you're level 27 and the minibosses are blowing you away, you either have poor party balance, or you are under equiped. (You need all you spells and optimum equipment, then you should be able to take the dungeon at level 16.) Level 20 should suffice for the fire mountain. (You should have the Zeus Gauntlets by this point. You can get the rat tail at the Castle of Trials as soon as you get the canoe, which will allow you to get the class change immediately upon getting the airship, as well as let you get the Zeus Gauntlets before going to the Fire Mountain.

One thing to do would be to stock up on potions. That would make it possible to face the bosses at full strength. You shouldn't worry about leveling up in the Cave. What you should do instead is level up outside the cave, then take the dungeon.

No, I am positively in the Earthgift. But I do not care anymore for I have started a new game.
