I was wondering about how others used the sphere grid.
I use all members of my crew in each battle, so everyone gets AP, and some of my players have double AP on their weapons. I also run around Omega Ruins to get some decent AP points.
What tips do you have in regards to the sphere grid, to get more stats for characters?

Double/Triple Overdrive, Overdrive -> AP, and Double/Triple AP. Set your Overdrive type to 'Warrior' or 'Slayer.' Fight at the Battle Arena. Buckets upon buckets of AP, and at the Battle Arena you can Bribe the Spheres you need to make the best use of those levels.

Then fight the don tonberry.
Equip the person who will be attacking with stoic.
Equip 2 other characters to comrade.
The 2 comrade characters can revive the other.
Flee when Don tonbberry stops using Karma.

Yepper, had Kimahri fill the ENTIRE grid with just 5 battles, starting from nearly empty. Also for Wakka, and later for everyone.

Redbat's is a lot faster, but I usually had a lot of problems getting the Comrade mode; if this isn't the case for you, use that instead. I would think the attacker should be someone who's slain most of the enemies in your game (likely Auron or Lulu), as I thought Karma dealt damage based on the target's number of kills. Again, it'll probably be easier to encounter Don Tonberry repeatedly if you do this at the Battle Arena...

Yeah. That trick freaken rocks. Let me also add, that when I manage to get clear spears, my LuLu become pathetically weak, with about 300 or so HP. So when I get attack by Don Tonbury just once, I manage to get 99 levels.

Did you have your ultimate weapon equipped while doing this?

I just fought all the battles and did it the normal way LOZL didn't take long LOZL.
Then I went through it again with the trick Redbat mentioned.

Don Tonberry is...slow? Well...actually, he's damn fast, but he spends most of his turns 'walking' towards you. This doesn't hurt, so it looks like he's slow as hell. He's getting ready to perform a "Kitchen Knife" attack (which, obviously, hurts).
But, whenever you strike him, there's an exceedingly high chance he'll counter with "Karma," a skill that deals damage based on how many monsters you've killed. It ignores defense and evasion, so it's really good for building up AP through Overdrive->AP trickery.
Don Tonberry doesn't attack multiple party members at once, and even though his attacks are powerful they're either very slow to load or are controlled by your party's actions, so he's not terribly difficult if you have Life or something similar learned.

Nopez, can;t do, you need to have the correct bonusses on your weapon, yuna however DID have her final weapon, just to heal my damage dealer who also had a perfect weapon, so basically, only your leveling character must have the Exp. weapon.

So, just to make sure I have all this. Its better to use your weak characters becaue he attacks that person based on how my enemies he or she has killed, and you have to have the correct bonusses on your weapon.
I have no idea what the correct bounusses are...

Well no, not really. This is the way I did it:
Have one character, whichever one you want to level up, equip a weapon with Triple AP, Overdrive -> AP, and Triple Overdrive. Equip him/her with the Comrade overdrive mode. You might also want someone with Auto-Phoenix armor, and the one with the most kills with Auto-Haste. Start the battle. and have the one that has killed the most monsters steal from Don Tonberry (steal works better than an attack because it doesn't die and will always counter). When I do this, it always does 99,999 HP damage. My other person casts Auto-Phoenix, and then I have that person use Curaga on the one that just died. Then, I use that person to steal again.
If you keep repeating this, it will work out pretty well. I remember gaining 20 levels with Kimarhi before killing Don Tonberry since it was just tedious.
