Still, there`s nothing to say they`ll go belly-up anytime soon that`s for sure.

Final could stop as soon as they can think of something better that makes them more money which could take a miracle as FF12 has already sold 2,000,000 copies making Squaresoft big $$$
also Denny 5555 posts, you don't see that every day!

heh, thats actualy an anime final fantasy

It might stop when they're in the early FF30s. It might gonna end when Tetsuya Nomoru dies or Nobou Uemastu. I'm not sure, just as long all the games are good

lol that anime sucked to be honest.
Square Enix will break and fall when PS4 comes out, if there ever will be a ps4. Seriously the future of gaming looks very cloudy.

They might even go on making them untill we run out of fossil fuels and most of our electricity which seemingly will be in something like 20 years

Kewl, they'll continue with games whatsoever, maybe not FF, but remember that they've made tons of other good games (Star Ocean etc.), the have enough ideas to create more.

I hope they make a lot more CRPG style games, but in my opinion they need to stop all this side game thing. Sure its good publicity but the long time FF players that I have spoken to all agree with me on this subject.

i don't want them to stop making FFs. at least not until they make a sequel to 8 and 9 and another installment to X, and making it very heartfelt and sad like X. i liked X-2, but it was really a contrast to FFX. and maybe when they turn a plot i made up into a game.

FF CMLXXXII. That would be 982.
You must remember that Square has been through a whole lot.
Such as when, FFI was not created yet, and Square's business and suceess was rapidly decreasing.
There is a lot that can happen in a single year that can change things for many years to come.
Seriously the future of gaming looks very cloudy.
When hasn't the future seemed cloudy in any aspect? When video games were first introduced it was definately the cool thing to have/be doing.
Then over a time of about 15 years it turned into this geeky, nerdy, loser thing to do.
Yet, tons upon tons of people still play video games because of how fast things are getting electronicaly advanced.
To answer your question, SE will always have its downfalls and uprisings, but hopefully they can stay around just long enough.

Well Final Fantasy is really popular now. But it seems things are starting to go down hill. I'm excited about 12....But I'm not all that sure about 13... The whole spin off thing and stuff. I think they're taking it to far. I think I'm happy with my VII, VIII, IX, X and XII - 100's of hours of gameplay right there! If square is able to create something really spectacular to get the new generation of gamers interested in FF and RPG's than that would be good. But it seems that Action games such as GTA are becoming the popular thing now days...I'm not a fan of GTA myself, but I hear it's good.
I hope the Final Fantasy series will end soon. End with a big BANG. Something really spectacular. But with the price of the PS3 who knows how many people will by a PS3 to experience it all. All this talk makes me wanna play FFIX. Gotto love Final Fantasy. :)

It'll never end, as long as S-E keeps making money on FF and DQ they will never end.
Alvinz
08-16-2006, 06:57 AM
Oh But it will. If S-E makes one really really shit FF, or people lose interest in RPGS it will end. And if that doesn't happen, eventually the people you love who make FF will retire or die (except for Nobou) and when the new generation comes, if they don't live up to the standards, S-E will die.
jj984jj
08-16-2006, 07:59 AM
Well if people lose interest in RPGs, the sales will go down, which means I'm not wrong. ^_^

I have heard rumours that Square-Enix might be making future FFs onto the X-Box/X-Box 360 and change their game titles. Just a rumour. I don't think it is likely.

Well.. I don't know about that, but .. one of the creators of Final Fantasy is indeed on his own and now making a game for the 360 entitled Blue Dragon.
dtpena
10-30-2006, 02:04 AM
yeah, it's a bunch of FF crew who formed Mistwalker, but blue dragon is not my kind of game.
The next step for Square-Enix is buying Level5, then they would be unstoppable and archieve world domination
Gilthanos
10-30-2006, 02:06 AM
lol
Yeah blue dragon seems like it is rip off of Okami. That was a fun game, I admit, but.. just doesn't seem original if Blue Dragon similiar. One thing I love about Final Fantasies is that they are original. Every one of them. Every game is new and sets a new bar for other companies to try to strive for. It would be hard to see something come from the same producers that isn't .. original.

in my opinion even Square and FF will never ends, especially FF because every game is a new game, the number after Final Fantasy is just to make ppl dont buy the same game twice, every FF is a brand new game, Breath of Fire for example is a game with a short life because every game is the same Ryu with the same butterfly chick.

What you say is not true in one bit. Yes Square-Enix is an endurant and persistant company that was formed by the merging of two very endurant and persistant companies, but it is not immune to things that kill such companies to this day. For one thing nothing can replace people. New people are born, but new people are born with new gifts, old gifst and creativity are lost when the older generation dies. If the new gifts and creativity of the new generation are not able to be honed by the old generation into a newer version of the old generation's ways, then the ways of the old generation are lost, and once those ways are lost, then the ways that made the group sucessful are lost.

And in this case it looks like platform models/types and the joining of companies is going to bring about the end, or fading away, of Square.
To answer your question, SE will always have its downfalls and uprisings, but hopefully they can stay around just long enough.
Just one title doens't constitute the economic structure of the company, although I can empathize with the fact that Final Fantasy is something genuine that most would like to see continue being successful but not be so dragged out that it turns into the company that has to be desperate with grey remakes like resident evil or silent hill (that's how it's gone past the edge of 4 or 5 series) by losing the ability to make individual games. References to past games are okay but making a second or third of one final fantasy like X and X-2 and XII being like XI can lead it to that dead end of no creativity.
I hope the Final Fantasy series will end soon. End with a big BANG. Something really spectacular. But with the price of the PS3 who knows how many people will by a PS3 to experience it all. All this talk makes me wanna play FFIX. Gotto love Final Fantasy.
But neither would some want it to stop so abrubtly at one totally awesome title, as fitting as it seems, because of the shock of losing that genuine heart-felt line of entertainment. But XI's got a good foot-hold for a while anyway..

There is just one massive flaw in that logic of yours. Yes Final Fantasy has been, Square's flagship franchise, and Dragon Quest was Enix's flagship franchise, but neither company relied entirely on either franchise. Square Enix currently holds Final Fantasy as their flagship franchies for a good reason, it's very sucessful. But, also, Dragon Quest is still developing sequels. Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean, Seiken Densetsu(the mana series.), Front Mission, and a myriad of others, are active franchises, that make much profit for the company.
Befor you claim the company is in decline, I would like to see that decline you have been talking about. I know that sounds counter to my previous post, but what I said, is simply that the downfall is inevitable. That my no stretch of the imagination even implies that said downfall has already started. What I said of the generational shifts in my previous post can apply simply to the end of the Final Fantasy franchise. A new generation may be able to breath new life into the company with a new franchise even if it fails to conform to the norms and expectations of the old generation, but a new and insolent generation (which is also an inevitability) could squander the resources of the corporation, through ill thought out game concepts and monetary embezzlements, or through simply failing to reinvest profits into the business, causing the business to stagnate and thus fail to compete. Regardless of how good or poor the games themselves are, it will more likely be dead-beat business practices that bring about the company's downfall. And while this company's current set of leaders might have good business practices, that doesn't mean their sucessors or their sucessors' successors will.
In short, STFU, And don't nay-say a company, you know very little about!

I could try every brand known to man... write my books... Ahh that'd be awesome.

Did I ever say I disliked the series in general? I make no secret of the fact that I detest several of them, but it's not the same thing. And even if was, it's hardly any business of a random cunt I'll forget about in five minutes.
