well it helps if u have met all the friendly things.... that way u can beat the crap out of im with regular weapons... shadow armor ( armour that nullifies shadow attacks or absorb it) is a must.. that way you will get healed by that ummm attack he has..... and pray to god that he don't uses curse.... thats his worst.... this battle is just luck.... if u beat him.. and then battle him again with the same stats and same tactic it might be that u loose on the first turn.. it's all about luck... so pray ti wathever god u belive in... it's worse for me since I don't belive in any god... so I pray to myself.. anyways all I wanted to say is it's all luck

u guys make it sound hard. all u gata do is get ur 4 characters up to, lv. 99, and if u want to beat him no problem, just dont steal, but if u want the items, its a bit more difficalt. equiped ur characters with stuff that absorbs holy and shadow magic, if u dont have any than use some that halves it or does something, DO NOT USE REFLECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for a party, i would sugest
1. Zidane (of course)
2. Dagger, her healing and summon
3. Vivi, his black magic
4. Eiko, her healing and summoning

just keep going at him, and he'll go done, i did it in about 15 min. and i stole all his stuff. all u gata do is think about it
(kinda like ruby weapon, God i hated him.)

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">Taken from a boss FAQ I wrote for another site...

HP: 55535
Exp recieved: 65535
AP recieved: 100
Gil recieved: 18312
Items to steal: Pumice Piece, Dark Matter, Robe Of Lords, Elixir
Items recieved: Pumice, Dark Matter
Attack list: Death, Flare, Holy, LV4 Holy, LV5 Death, Flare Star, Curse, Meteor, Doomsday, Berserk, Curaga

This is by far the hardest boss in the game.

Recommended party: Zidane, Steiner, Quina, Dagger

Give everyone armour or other equipment that can guard against or absorb Shadow attacks. Equip all characters with Antibody, Clear Headed and Bright Eyes. Also give each character Auto-Haste and Auto-Regen. If your characters haven't learnt these abilities yet, you should learn them before you attempt to fight Ozma

You shouldn't really have a problem in this battle unless Ozma decides to use Meteor. Shell will reduce the damage caused by this attack by 50%, so get Quina to cast Mighty Guard often. However, with Auto-Haste equipped, this will run out fairly quickly. Meteor is his most devestating attack, on a bad day this may wipe out your entire party for 9999HP damage each.

Every character should have at least 5000HP before going into this battle to be able to survive most of his attacks; and try not to have anyone with a level at a multiple of 5.

If you haven't equipped Auto-Life before this battle, get Quina to cast it on all characters. With the abilities mentioned above equipped, Curse should only cause Mini; and this can be healed if Dagger casts Mini on the entire party, or Quina uses Angel Snack (but this will use up 4 Remedies.)

If you use any character's special moves e.g. Steiner's Shock, Ozma will counterattack by Berserking that character, so they will only be able to attack physically. Throughout this battle, Zidane and Steiner should be attacking physically. You can steal some good items, but it may be better just to fight the battle quickly. He drops a Pumice and a Dark Matter after battle anyway.

Doomsday will not be a problem; in fact, it may help you. If everyone is protected against Shadow magic you won't take damage and you may even absorb the attack; and Ozma himself isn't protected from Shadow attacks, so he will take about 5000HP damage by using this move.

Flare Star's damage is based on your character's current levels. It does 50x the current level in damage. So, for example, if you are level 1 it will do 50HP damage, if you are level 2 it will cause 100HP damage, etc.

Even with Auto-Haste equipped, you will probably only get 2-3 of your characters to attack in between his moves. However, the animation for most of his attacks will take a long time, so you don't really need to heal your characters much; the Auto-Regen should be sufficient.

I beat the strange fellow. I was at like level 75. Just had auto-regan and haste and just smashed to death with huge moves. He was hard tho, because of all his devastating attacks. Just make sure never to have half your hp. If you do then cure. Its not that hard. You can really inflect huge damage into him, and beat him quick if you are fast. Dark matter in stock also works well. 9999 damage really helps.

I beat him with Zidane, Dagger, Vivi and Steiner, all at about Lv 55. It took me ages though.
