In Dollet when the big spider machine thing is chasing your party, and when you get to the pub just before the bridge going overhead, two SeeD's come out, shout out "Squad C withdraw!" and then run away, right?
Well, if you run into the pub rather then carrying on running down the street, the machine spider thing will actually go past the pub and chase some other people, and then you can calmly make your way down to the beach where you can to Questis, she says "Hurry!" and you ge ton the vessel and go back to Balamb. You miss out the cool movie where she kills the machine thing, though.
Does anyone else know about this secret?

I knew about that, I'm also fairly sure you lose loads of points in your seed results for doing that.
But for killing it you gain maximum fighting/attack points.

Yeah, I was vaguely aware of this, but never tried it. It's basically like miss the FMV and beat the crap out of the spider or miss the FMV because you took a puss way of evading it. According to the SeeD Rank Guide at GameFAQs, hiding in the cafe is a deduction of 20 points from your attitude score.

Actually, I think it's worse than that. I remember reading in the strategy guide that you get a "1 point deduction" for a lot of things. But then it had a chart of deductions, and I think 20 deductions was something below 50. So it's really worse than losing 20 points.

I knew about the one when you miss the FMV for beating the big spider machine. But I never knew about the one hiding in the pub!
I think you get docked some points... like 15 points from your total score.

That isn't much of a secret, the easiest way to miss the FMV is to get your GF's to learn Summon magic+30%, then get them to a high compatibility with your characters, don't use Siren she won't help, and beat it on the bridge, get high points and if you've played the rest right you should get a rank of between 8-10

I was trying out some things to avoid getting into too many battles and also found out that if your on a straight run like across the bridge and the spiders jumps in front of you you run back and it jumps in front of you again and you gain a lot of space when it's doing that if that makes any sense but it didn't work all the time

Agent0042
10-15-2006, 04:33 PM
I don't think so --- the points for the timing, if I recall correctly, are decided by five minute intervals. You'd have to be right on the cusp of one for it to possibly be worth doing, and even then, I'm not sure if it is. You know what, I'll check...
Okay, seems the time intervals aren't strictly 5 minutes, they range from about 2-5 minutes each. Each time interval knocked off is a 10 point deduction. According to the guide, hiding in the cafe is a 20 point deduction. So the time gained would have to be at least 4 minutes in order for it to actually be advantageous to your point score to hide in the cafe.

sorry i coulnt be arsed to read what other people wrote , so someone myhave said this already - but its not a secret , u can just kill the thing on the bridge , ive found it only possible to kill it there , u can hide from it in pub , u lose seed ranking , and 3rdly its easer enough to run away from the thing with maybe 1 battle ( not inc the compulsory ones) if theres one thing that people dont know about its going back to dollet and wondering around up towards the tower, for those of you who know this , well its funny , if u hvnt done so , try it , its amusing.

If you can't be arsed to read what other people wrote, then don't respond. Also, don't revive old threads, and use some proper spelling and punctuation, for goodness sakes.

Ok, ive had arguments with arrogant people in the past about 'reviving' old threads , so i'll lay it out to you as well; if i dont 'revive' a thread i will be creating a new one, now to me that is completely pointless as there would already be a thread in relation with my post then i would prob have you saying something along the lines of "use the search function... don't make multiple threads..."
...and your you own personally information I wrote that as quick comments (practically bullet points if you do not understand what i mean...) and the whole reason for me replying in the first place was because i was responding to what somebody else had wrote, therefore the entire reason why i said " ... [I haven't] read what OTHER people wrote..." because I do not want people telling me "HEY som1 already wrote that like, init!"
an abot me spellig and pnctuation me regrt to imfrm u tht i couldnt care less while I'm sitting at home enjoying my self - maybe when i did my English degree maybe, but this is not the case.
and now I'm going to give you some advice, do not make stupid comments like the above just so you can add one more post to the counter, and I'm laughing at the fact that you waisted your time to say that and that I'm waisting my time to say this.
In regards to the rest of the population out there I apologise.
Goodnight to all

All of your arguments are shit --- so let's put it in a way that you can understand --- don't revive anymore old threads in this section and post in a manner that is readable, or I will start deleting your posts in this section. Which would be disappointing, because other than this thread, you haven't really made a pest of yourself.

Also it wouldn't kill you to give it at least a Basic attempt on Spelling and Grammer it makes it easier to read and Understand. If you don't it makes you seem like unlearned Pig farmer who gets off on watching his wife who is also his Aunt/Sister Molest the pigs.

I just don't get why it is that so many people think that they can just come in these days and argue with us about the issues when it comes to reviving old threads and spelling / grammar. It's really not something that's all that hard to do. And it's not like we don't have good reasons for it. Which we'd be happy to explain in more detail if the attitude were dropped, but in a nutshell --- following those guidelines helps the smooth operation of the forum.
m3nac3
02-21-2007, 05:34 AM
Of cause they do, but on the account of spelling, my primary post (as far as I can see) has one spelling error and that is the myhave which is meant to be may have, not including text such as '3rdly'.
...2ndly: reviving old threads, i used to follow this rule until i just got fed up with people telling me to use the search feature and post in a thread which hadn't been posted in for a good year or so. and now i get people telling me to not revive threads which may have information for people, or just a good read - i was offering (like everyone else) my view, so what if its a year later? it's still relavent.
And it's not hard to do, I do know this but as i said it saves time when people search for something in particular.
Also to add, i could care less if you were a moderator or not, it does not make one of higher class.
now for your side of the argument, if you had said grammar in the first place i would have accepted that, but as it was, you clearly stated that it was my spelling and punctuation. neither were an issue, thats whats annoyed me a bit.
Now all in all your prob a bit peeved off at me at the mo, so you may delete this post , or edit it or suspend the login which i use, but that will not alter the fact of what i have said.
I'll attempt to stay on good terms with you.
Kind regards and apologies to all,
M3nAc3

m3 --- apparently you're mixing an experience you had on a different board with the one you're having here. Other boards may tell you to "use the search feature." We are different. The reason we don't like people reviving old threads is generally:
A.) A lot of the time, people revive old threads simply for the purpose of posting gameplay tips or strategies, etc. etc., that have already been posted within the thread. Or worse, they revive an old thread where somebody had actually answered the question correctly to post something that's completely bogus. I actually had that happen the other day in the FFX-2 section --- somebody revived a thread out of the blue that was like six months old and actually posted a completely inaccurate piece of information.
B.) Besides the above, when people here post something in a thread, they are "subscribed" to it. Which means if you post a response in it, then it shows up in their control panel as having an active discussion. I personally subscribe to most threads in the sections I moderate and I'm generally not to happy when I go on and see a thread that I know is old (or worse, a whole slew of threads that are old, as some n00bs are apt to do) lit up there.
The fact is, people here don't want you reviving old threads. It's not just me. Now don't do it.
Anyway, as for my being a moderator, no, it does not make me higher-class, nor do I think you will ever hear me say so. Nor am I asking you to abide by anything that I think anyone else generally wouldn't expect you to. As for your above post, I see no reason to either delete it or edit it, so I won't.
