Thats true but it should be marked with something like SPOILER COMING UP, for all the people who have yet to finish/never played that particular game.

You have a point, although I would like to think that people would have seen the vast majority of these endings if they are making a judgment on which one is the best.

Am I allowed to comment on the earlier ones of the series if so I liked if so I liked FF6 even though.. it didnt really do alot for the game or anything.
Um of the more recent FFs I'd have to say I liked FF8 (My first copy was messed up so when I finally beat the sorceress things flashed and it went white and for a year or so I was thinking.. that was a lame ending, But I finally figured it out)

FFX's ending was obviously better than FFX-2. X-2's ending was nice and all, but it was so short, and it feels like I worked for nothing.

well how like CG animations...
I would have to say FFX because it was sad and Yuna finally tells Tidus that she loves him.
SPOILER AHEAD
Well after kissing him for half an hour i dont think there were any doupts that she loved him.
I would say that i liked IX's endings. It let no questions (except maybe vivi).
It would also work out SPOILER if Zidane had died in the Lifa Tree (work out as a sad ending of course)

Iifa tree anyone?

Probably because "Lifa Tree" sounds better to people and with the font the game uses, they get the idea that it starts with an "I" instead of an "L." That's what I used to think too.

Lifa Tree does sound better and it has the word 'life' in it, so its relevant to the Iifa Tree.
I can see how people make the mistake I guess.
Im confuced, is it Lifa Tree or Iifa Tree? :S
Iifa is correct.
I would say more, but I'd run the risk of causing even more confusion.

I personally thought that FFIX had one of the most inspired and perfect examples of realismo magico, or magic realism, that I've ever seen. The ending is certainly Shakespearian, as is most of the game, and there are several direct influences from Shakespearian comedic theater. You have:
1. The play within the play.
2. Many characters, many different love stories.
3. The "play" ends in a wedding (or the video game equivalent) and starts with a big problem.
Finally, one does not have to go farther than the language used and the fact that Steiner appears to be wearing STAGE MAKEUP even though he is in no way connected to the theater group!
Anyway, back to the ending. I thought that the improbability, indeed the impossibility of Zidane's return was underlined by the final conversation between Dagger/Garnet and Zidane. It serves as an explanation for his survival, and for his return: he had no choice. He had to come home to her.
The symbolic fall of her crystal-claw necklace and her decision to abandon it and to go to Zidane shows her final abandoning of those values that have held her away from him, ie: what is expected of her as a princess, what is proper and right (and what has held Steiner from Beatrix the entire length of the story.)
All in all, I thought it wrapped up the story nicely in a very obviously Shakespearian way, and the death of Kuja and Zidane's final compassion, even for his enemy-brother, was breathtaking.
Somewhat like Mercutio cursing the house of Romeo, but in reverse, and in mirror-image. Instead of the dying man cursing the houses of both parties, Zidane stays with Kuja to his last breath and comforts him in his hour of need, giving him his benediction and godspeed.
Just a few literary interpretations of the ending, there are many more, but these are the reasons that is stuck so solidly in my mind.

FF 9 and FF10 had top endings. FF7 was less than I expected, FF8 was nice but not touching...FF9 was so amazing, just like a movie and FF10 really made me cry. FF10-2 was a complete disappointment. Especially the "perfect ending".Nothing perfect about it.

Yeah, FFIX has the best ending. The end FMV is awesome (shame about the whole 'no kissing' thing going on between Zidane and Garnet...). I have to say, the soundtrack helped no end. "Melodies of Life" is one of my favourite pieces of Final Fantasy (and Nobuo Uematsu) music. Oh, and the little Vivis were funny too.

I say they just went straight to the wild sex scene. You guys just didn't get to see it becuase it was released in a massively top-secret unlockable ending that happens if you steal "Kuja's Thong" from the final Kuja battle.
:P I kid.
That being said, FF9 had my favorite ending of any game I've played. It was one of those endings that left me really happy and satisfied, and not with the feeling of, "What the F*** did I just waste all that time for?!" when I watched it. I still remember being all sparkley and sunshiney for days after I finished it. My friend said it best: Zidane is a total romantic dork, and I love him for it. XD I love the way it comes full circle to the place where it all began, so the whole theme of "returning to the place I call home" really comes through.
Plus I love the way the "song" comes into play at the very end, when Zidane tells Dagger how it gave him the strength to carry on, and then it plays along with the credits, and all of the FMVs get shown while they roll.
So yep, I already loved FF9 as I was playing it, but the ending is what sealed it as my favorite.

okay, that just didn't do it at all. As meaningful as it was, it isn't really realistic when she's dropping such a valuable in a throng of peasants. Yes some are dressed as nobles but it is a mixed crowd where characters like Puck can snatch it up for some abusive reason, and such an idea totally detracts from the moment.
As fas as which ending I believe to be the best out of some final fantasys, Final Fantasy XI has my gut wrenching because I haven't actually endend an installment/expansion/episode, but the sheer magnitude of it's ability to provide a story with graphics, music, character development...yes there are many quests and thus many stories to pursue, but the main story/episode endings, even though I haven't battled up to any with my own usb board, seem capable of something final fantasys before XII are not.
Iifa is correct.
I would say more, but I'd run the risk of causing even more confusion.
Moving to GD.
Also, 12 year olds don't do well here. I would advise finding another forum with younger members. Otherwise, you'll just be an annoyance to most of us.
Yeah, Prak's right, take some friendly advice, you won't enjoy your stay here unless you're quite mature for your age, methinks.

Sorry, in exactly which ways was the FFVI ending good? My thoughts on the FFVI ending were as follows:
- Loved the character sequence and all of the different versions of the character themes playing.
- Hated the actual "ending" itself. Not all that much happened and it didn't have much impact for me. I mean, Terra fades away from the airship or whatever, the kids at orphanage see a star in the sky and then she lands back on the airship as a human and Setzer declares it's the "world's fastest ship" and that's it. Kick-ass closing credits music though.
- FMV ending created for the Anthology version was reasonably decent.
I guess in some ways I loved it, but in others, I kinda hated it.

As Feona17 says: the FFx-2 have a nice ending, and I think that too (well, the perfect ending, because I don't like the normal ending =Z), but I still fell that I finish it only for play more, I was waiting an best ending...

X had the best ending. I almost still can't believe they had the balls to do that! Awesome.
I also liked IV, IX, VI, and XII's endings very well.
VII easily the worst ending. Good plot, completely useless ending. Added nothing. I need more than just Red looking over a cliff, sorry.
Agent0042
12-05-2006, 06:19 AM
Agreed. VII's ending was pretty useless, made up for only by the fact that I strongly enjoy the closing credits theme, "Staff Roll."
Hahahah. Agent I made a thraed a while back claiming that 'Staff Roll' was the best song on the soundtrack.
Of course I was made fun of because from that I believed I was the only one who recognized the song.
Cheers.
Best ending? I'd say Final Fantasy IX's ending. It was very easy to understand, and it didn't leave that many holes, except maybe for Vivi's fate.
Agent0042
12-06-2006, 02:41 AM
Yeah. And personally, I think a bit of mystery in regards to what happened with Vivi was called for.
Exactly.
It was one of those things where it was so much build-up that I think Square was almost undecided.
Leaving it a mystery really made that game more worthy of having the best Final Fantasy ending.

Well. im gonna have to go with ten on this one because i havent beaten twelve yet. i have heard that it is a pretty killer ending though. i guess i say ten because starting with seven you really seem to get attatched to characters as you play through the game. like in ten at the end how tidus has been explaining about the whole game being a dream. and then u see him fade away. walk through yuna. idk i just like that ending the most. although im waiting till i beat twelve and compare the two.
dont spoil it for me please
