On the 7th Of July I went to the Sydney Town Hall to see and Orchestrated Concert called "A Night In Fantasia 2006" performed by the "Emenence Orchestra" who performed music from the famous Final Fantasy series and also the famous Studio Ghibli movies, with guest star Youmi Kimura who composed the ending theme songs to Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle.

So here I am back at home after a wonderful time at "A Night In Fantasia 2006". It was absolutly incrediable! I just loved the music there!
Heres what they had there:
1ST HALF:
Morning in the Slag Ravine - Laputa Castle In The Sky
The Opened Way- Battle With Colossus - Shadow Of Colossus
War War War - Howls Moving Castle
Highwind Takes To The Sky - Final Fantasy VII (I really enjoyed this piece of music.)
Nanna Aiutto - Porco Rosso
Crimson Wings - Porco Rosso
Final Fantasy Medley
-Opening Theme - FFVII
-Tinas Theme - FFVI
-Love Grows -FFVIII
-Vamo' alla Flamenco - FFIX
-Fiddle De Chocobo - FFVII
-Final Fantasy - FF

2ND HALF
My Neighbour Totoro - My Neighbour Totoro
Tori No Hito - Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind
Journey To The West - Princess Mononoke (Also A really good song)
Laputa - Laputa, Castle In The Sky
Life's Merry-Go-Round - Howl's Moving Castle
Promis Of The World - Howls Moving Castle (Youmi Kimura)
Decisive Battle - Final Fantasy X
Hope-Main Theme(World Premier) - Final fantasy XII
-1st Movement. Overture
-2nd Movement. March of a Wiseman
-3rd Movement. Road Of Hope
-4th Movement. Romance
-5th Movement. Road Of Hope ~ Refrain

It was really good how the played some clips from the movie or game the song originated from, brings back the memories .

The Final Fantasy and Studio Ghibli music (Studio Ghiblis songs were all composed by Joe Hisaishi) is just so much better when performed right in front of your very eyes by a real life orchestra.

I just loved Youmi Kimuras Songs. At the end they gave us all a little surprise and she performed the ending theme song from Spirited Away, which I just loved. The after that they gave us a little bonus song, which was really wired :S.

At the end I bought a poster which I had signed by many members of the emenence orchestra and also Youmi Kimura. She said "Thankyou" to me as she signed my poster, so I said thankyou back as she handed it to me!

Over all I had a great time there, I give my night a 10/10. :)

Not likely, due to Square Enix's stingent grip on anything with the 'FF' name in it - they refused to give permission when Eminence released a CD of their amazing 2004 A Night in Fantasia concert, so it only included the first half of the concert, featuring Joe Hisashi's Gihbli themes. The entire second half (Nobuo Uematsu/FF) was ommited.

Oh well, I enjoyed myself anyway at A Night in Fantasia in 2004 (not least because Nobuo Uematsu himself was in attendance). It was just a pity I missed this year's concert, although hopefully, I may make next year's A Night in Fantasia - here's hoping they perform FFVI's opera or something from FFXI this time. (fingers crossed)

P.S. Here is the link to the Eminence Orchestra's website (Eminence were the organsiers and performers of A Night in Fantasia) for those who are interested: http://www.eminenceonline.com/2006/
