What combination of race, birthsign and type of class do you think is the best? I've chosen nord(race), the lady(birthsign) and knight(class). My character is pretty good with sword and any short range weapons but a pretty lousy archer and later on in the game i find it difficult facing enemies with magic. Opinion please... ;)

Race-Imperial
Birthsign-Warrior
Class-Knight
My character is great with heavy armour and swords but lacking on the magic side.
I get by with having some nice health spells and just healing myself while fighing a mage. Or....look into alchemy and potions and make some that either reflect or stop magic damage for a certain amount of time.
I found a handy amulet on the plains of Oblivion that relects most magic too. :)

Sounds like a better combination than mine. My character is also lacking in magic and i'm not really good in the alchemy department. :(
Do you know roughly where that all-powerful amulet is located? It would really help me a lot.

I really couldn`t say for sure to be quite honest with you.
Still, i`m pretty sure i found it in Oblivion. However, i`m not sure in which one of the many gates i found it. But when i did i found another in a different gate so i`d assume they are quite common.
For now i`s suggest just being stocked up with potions and whatnot in case you come up against a mage. Still, my character is actualy just like yours-I prefer to use brute force and go for short range attacks so i`d say all is not lost.

Kienshin... please... stop. As the hugest fan of Elder Scrolls III who currently does not have access to this latest edition in the series I forbid it to be discussed because I am insanely jealous.
I've always only ever played as a Wood Elf and after much trial and error (taking hours up hours of experimentation) the class I concluded was the very best for me personally was that of "Nightbow". It was a custom class I made up which emphasized stealth, speed and agility.
I tweak it and controlled every aspect of my gameplay so that I could level up to level 70... and I became an expert marksman, expert in illusion magic, expert runner/jumper, expert in light armour and short blades... it was fantastic.
As far as the birthsigns go, anything that doesn't fortify your abilities is the key... if you're a long-term player. I chose the tower if memory serves...

That is impressive. I was contemplating doing similar... but instead I chose to forgo an extra 29 levels in order to stick Acrobatics, Light Armour, and Marksmanship as primary attributes. A Wood Elf with Marksmanship as a primary attribute starts out with it at '50' which is bloody huge and really hurts your potential to level higher. But hey... my elf was kick-ass and I'd rate it over any melee character out there.
An expert marksman with devestating cloaking spells that is super fast and can cast magic which allows him to jump like hell... kiss any chances of kicking his ass goodbye. You can't hurt what you can hit, and you can't hit what you can't catch, and you can't catch what you can't see :-).
GAME OVER
How is it possible to level up to level 99 though? I thought level 87 was the higest possible due to the way the level-up system works.

Sounds nice. It seems like me, you`re proud of your character. :)
Well, i believe lvl 100 was the highest, if i remember correctly.
Still, i also had a number of houses full of items i acquired over the course of the game. These ranged from countless spoons to a bed full of skulls. What a game :)
But Oblivion truly seems to better it, no mess. ;)

Level 100? No way, you'd never end up getting there. I don't think there is a limit on your level, but I'm fairly certain its impossible to level up that high.
You can only gain a level when you have gained ten attribute skill levels, right? So for example... if you have 'Athletics' as a primary skill at 50 you can sleep and gain a level once you work it up to 60.
Now... choosing a class essentially means you specify five primary attributes (which each start at 30) and five secondary attributes (which each start at 15). So assuming you choose/create a class where all ten attributes are NOT attributes that your chosen race is "gifted in" you begin with 225 skill levels. Since you can only level up after gaining 10 skill levels, it becomes impossible to gain a level when you're skill levels add up to 1000. So...
1000 - 225 = 775 skill points left you can earn (which actually count).
Now... since you gain a level after every 10 skill levels. That means...
775 / 10 = 77.5 is the highest attainable level. And of course, you can't gain half a level. So 77 is the highest. Sorry, I was incorrect in my post above, it is infact 77 now that I've crunched the numbers.
So, yeah, the highest possible level to acheive is 77 in Morrowind. But in my case, seeing as some of my primary attributes starting at higher then 30 due to the fact my class was "gifted" in those particular skills... I could only reach level 70 before maxing out...

Heh, maybe i was wrong. I kind of forget the details a little. :-P
Still, fantastic game and one that in scale is even bigger than Oblivion. Thankfully there are many mentions to Morrowind and the other continents which ties it all nicely together. And as for Oblivion, seriously Mr. Bunniesworth, you need to play this game seeing that your into Morrowind as much as me.
Also, if you`re interested....
I believe, this, if still working might be useful to you.
Morrowind Online (

I haven`t tried it but it apparently connects two IPs and puts you in the same Morrowind world as eachother.

I've got all the files... but I haven't tried it yet, the princess just isn't up to it yet. I'm not sure if it will work for us, considering we emulate Windows XP using Virutal PC (we are Mac users). Fingers crossed.
