I wrote this this morning, for the someone special in my life. I'm not all that good at poetry, but I gave it a shot.
I'd fight millions of battles, all by myself
I'd walk miles and miles, gasping for breath
The walls and the barriers, I'd overcome
I'd go without eating, live on the last crumb
There is nothing at all, that I wouldn't do
To prove once and for all, that my love is true
Though I may waver, fill myself up with doubt
You are the one thing I can't do without
The tears and the heartaches, the hopes and the dreams
My world would be empty and cold, so it seems
Unless you were here with me holding me close
You are the one that I will love most
You can make me laugh, turn frown into smile
As around me, the world fell all the while
My words have been true, I have not told a lie
As the days and the years, like water, tick by
This feeling I have, is deeper than true
From the depths of my soul, I will always love you

it takes a lot to express how you feel and to find the words...
I think you did a good job here... it's touching..
beautiful poem, Chrysalis.

I enjoyed your poem very much...:)
You look in the mirror, and all that you see
Is a young woman, homley as she can be
You curse the world, and think ill of fate
You wonder where life is headed at this rate
Your life was so plain, there's nothing you've done
To make you stand out, a shadow you've become
You live everyday, like you did every last
Just hoping that the end would come quick and fast
Then one day came along, someone different and new
And all he could see, was the beautiful you
You didn't know what made him act like he did
He fought through the shadows in your heart where you hid
He did what he could just to see your sweet smile
Pushing himself beyond his limits, all the while
You still didn't know, what this man saw in you
To give of himself, so selfless and true
You asked him one day, why he treated you so
He turned and he smiled, and said I think that you know
In this world, like you there are few
I looked past everything, to the beautiful you.

Brian, you smoothie you...
Hell, if it weren't for Betsy, i'd crack onto you :p.
I smile at you, but you don't smile back
And I can feel myself waver and crack
I want to be in your heart, like you are in mine
To share of this wonderful feeling divine
There is nothing I want, not silver nor gold
But to be close, so you I can hold
Your memory I carry, deep in my soul
To keep me warm when the world turns so cold
The smell of your hair, the taste of your kiss
These are some things I don't want to miss
But your heart has been locked, the entrance is barred
To protect your own heart, from it being scarred
I push and I pull, trying to work my way in
But the doorway it seems, is locked from within
Someone from your past, has left you so hurt
dragged you through mud, left you covered in dirt
I have so much for you, if you'd open to me
You have me completely, why can't you see
Every night, I lay and I cry
trying to keep from living a lie
The world unto me, seems to have spited
To suffer through a love unrequited
You say you need time, and I understand
It's a difficult choice; there's plenty of sand
patience I have, there's no need to rush
Take your time, like painter with brush
I can wait for forever, if that's what it takes
until your mind, it's decision it makes
I will be here, no matter how long
Until I can hear that beautiful song
My path I have chosen, there is no more doubt
Until you decide, I can tarry about
Until you can say, those three words so true
I will wait for eternity to hear "I love you"

wow Brian...those are so true to heart....I can almost feel what your poems say...
Those are excellent, and well done. I'd have to say I liked those alot, and you should keep it up.
Life is hard, and sometimes unfair
and happiness is always too rare
Friends come and go, and loved ones do, too
The comfort they give is too far and too few
But there comes a day in everyone's life
When you are about to be filled up with strife
That you find the one person on whom you can lean
Who will comfort you of all the troubles you've seen
They'll be there for you, no matter the hour
No matter the day, they'll lend you their power
They'll give you their strength in your moments of weakness
And together you know, you can fight through the darkness
The will of two people, and the strength of their love
Can chase away shadows, clear the skies up above
It can drive back the demons, this feeling so true
Knowing that someone out there really loves you

poetry written through emotion is the most powerful of all... no matter the skill level, it's beauty. Bravo...
Times get tough, and they may even seem too hard
There's no telling what life will bring when it deals me my next card
Sometimes I think that I may never hold a winning hand
Seems I'm always folding when I wish that I could stand
I was down to my last hand, it was all or nothing now
As I was dealt my final five, I could feel the sweat running down my brow
Nervously, I looked to see what life had dealt to me
It was the ten, Jack, King, and Ace of hearts, I only need the Queen
When I laid the card face down upon the table
My thoughts turned to you, and I knew that I was able
I was handed my last card, there was now no turning back
Anxiously I glanced at it, and hoped that what I needed I didn't lack
As they called to show the cards, one by one they laid them down
I set my five on the table, there was no way that I could frown
As the people left the table, I slowly stood and turned
I walked away rejoicing, this game I was not burned
I counted what I had, which was the sum of many parts
The card life had dealt to me is you, for you are my Queen of Hearts
Your poems are excellent Chrysalis. The flow of them is very smooth and suits the theme of each piece.
Very powerful, emotional and beautiful as well. . . each poem seems to tug on my heartstrings personally. Each one made me think. And they are very expressive.
It's like your heart is in every word.
Keep it up. :D
Unfair
Throughout the years
There's been good times and bad
Through laughter and tears
Either happy or sad
Life always takes what it gives
Ripping joy from my heart
Even though it still lives
Like being stabbed with a dart
With pain it replaces
The good times I'd have
Mocking with faces
I yearn for a salve
Over and over the cycle repeats
Always leaving me torn in it's wake
Always smashing all of my feats
It's too much; My mind wants to break
Everytime it gives and it takes
I feel so beaten and bare
I can't stand anymore the torture it makes
Life is just so unfair...
Its a piece of truth and strong emotion set in the stillest of waters and the coldest of stone.
Nicely played and nicely wrote
I look back on the times that we shared
Hoping you seen how much that I cared
Those moments we shared are precious to me
I just wish that now was what used to be
I know that it'd be hard when I'm so far away
but to have you back, any price I would pay
My feelings for you are rooted deep in my soul
With you not around, in my life is a hole
I know taking me back would be pretty tough
But I'm sure we could make it if we try hard enough
Please just give me one more little chance
I don't want to give up on our special romance

Well, I didn't have time to read all your poems Chrysalis but I got to read your most recent poem and it's really good. The rhyming is perfect, the use of emotions is great and overall it'ds a very well done poem. Keep it up!
*Claps* ^_^
When I was young I hoped to find
A friend who would be true,
Who would heal my broken spirit,
Who would listen when I'm blue.
Yet, I never knew my future
would include so dear a friend,
Someone who knew just how to listen
and on whom I could depend.
Then God heard my need for someone
And He answered it with you,
Thank you friend, for reaching out
And being one so true.
Through good times and bad
We've helped each other out,
Knowing that when you're needed,
You'd be there without a doubt.
And I hope that this reminds you
That even when we're apart,
That you'll always be a treasure
That I hold deep in my heart.

awww ^___^ Sweet sentiments every time I read it.
We all need friends like that :).
The drama, the chaos, why can't it just end?
Life is too short to have to deal with such things
What you want is just a moment of joy
To live in the happiness that it brings
But friends turned their backs
Like it seems they don't care
They've trampled your heart and your feelings
And it seems so unfair
Why can't they accept everything that you are?
All you wanted was a friend who would care
Who'd help you through troubles and trials
And the happiness, even if it's still rare
I've tried my best to be such a friend
Even when most said that I shouldn't dare
But I promised you that no matter what
You would know I'd be there
Through all of the problems that life throws your way
I will be a shoulder on which to lean or to cry
To give you strength when you need it
Or to wipe your eyes dry
I will be there to listen when no one else will
I will be there to hold you when you feel so alone
Or when the words of some people
Cut you straight to the bone
Through all this drama and torment
I still hope that you see
That despite what others say or they do
You are worth every minute to me
What a powerful and truthful piece. It had a wonderful rythum to it. . . I like it and I can relate to it. It kinda reminds me of "the light at the end of the tunnel" kind of thing, more so referring to a person.
The poem reeks up hopelessness and yet it leans towards the hope of leaning on another.

Your recent poem was great Nny. It's very easy to relate to and it really puts that scenario into perspective. Well done Nny! ^_^
Whisper to me,
Of love and summer dreams.
Whisper to me,
Of laughter and moonbeams.
My heart rests only,
When it lies near your own.
My eyes close softly,
When we two are alone.
My love is yours forever more,
If only youd open the door.
Whisper to me,
Of songs and falling leaves,
Whisper to me,
Of a heart that never grieves.
Your voice is my anchor,
Against the seas of pain;
Our life an adventure,
From which we only gain.
Wrap your arms around me,
And end the boundary.
Whisper to me,
Of kisses and pure snow.
Whisper to me,
Of eyes and cheeks aglow.
Let our songs become one,
Let our lives meld as well,
Let our two threads be spun,
About the same spindle.
Hearts together always,
My love becomes a blaze.
Whisper to me,
Of rain and life newborn.
Whisper to me,
Of oaths to be sworn.
Place your hand within mine.
Look deeply in my eyes.
Tell me to you I shine.
Please tell me no more lies
Give me all of yourself,
That we may be one self.
Whisper to me,
Of truth and distant stars,
Whisper to me,
Of all that now is ours.

thats kinda cool;)
The past is the past; its as simple as that
Memories of times that have come and gone
Actions taken, and ideas that were thought
Fading away among the mists of time
Strange as it may be, the past can hurt sometimes
Digging wounds deeper, we find that
Along with the fond memories of friends
Come the painful remembrance of those whove wronged
Over time, as day by day passes by
The pain will lessen, and eventually disappear
The only advice I can give you
Is to hold fast and weather the storm
But when the times of the grief of such memories
Becomes more than you can handle
Remember that Im always here to talk or to hold
Giving you my strength to carry you on
What can we do
When the world turns against us
When people dig the ground out
From under your feet
Sending you deeper and deeper
Into a pit of dispair
That you dug not yourself
But found yourself in nonetheless
When even love turns her hand
Helping you not
to pull yourself up from the hole
But helping to dig
As all that was close
Seems even further away
And things that were far
Are now out of sight
The only solace I've found
Is to remember the walk
The reason why we are here
And what waits for us when we finish
And so I keep struggling
To climb the steep walls
Grasping for help
As the pit deepens under me
And I know, if I fall, that it would end me

beautiful heart felt poem.... it can't help but stir the soul... et maintenant, je pleur.
Dreams are our fantasy
They visit us in our sleep
and sometimes while awake
They are our expectations
What we want from life
And what we get from living
They are our love
When separated by distance
They bring us nearer to those we care about
Dreams can be our peace
When we're troubled
They offer comfort
They can also be our plans
Visions of thoughts
that will carry us to our goal
But most of all, Dreams are hope
Hope of better futures
Or of better times
And it's when we stop to dream
That we most often realize
Dreams are life
And life, life is not a dream

Very good poem...
But I wonder, what about those of us who never have dreams worth remembering?...
Or if they are all nightmares......
