OK...I haven't been able to find this on the internet anywhere and I'm stuck.

I meet the weird bird-like creature on the path to Macalania Lake and do the mini-game and I catch all seven blue butterflies. The timer keeps going and runs out on me. I see the chests dropping, but I only can find one on the path and it's got an MP sphere in it. What happened to the other chests that appear to drop through the ground when I touched the butterflies? Is that all I get for catching all of them? The guy disappears on me and I can't find other chests.

Also, if I pass him up, will I never be able to play the game again? It says to touch the butterfly when I'm ready, but what if I just leave and come back later on in the game when I have the airship? Will the opportunity pass me by?

Is there a way to catch the falling treasure chests when you touch the blue butterflies? What about having that extra time at the end after I catch them? Am I supposed to somehow make it back to the bird-like creature in time?

This is frustrating...

As far as I understand it, there is a time after you leave Macalania Woods, and the butterfly game restarts, but this time, its harder but more rewarding I belive this is the way you get the sigil for Kimahris celestial weapon.

Ive never played the butterfly hunt game, wasnt really bothered with it, so therefore Im not the best guy for advice, but Im pretty sure that you dont have to get back to the bird creature, you just have to catch all of the blue butterflies in the time limit (obviously, while trying to avoid the red ones!).

otherwise, try http://www.gamefaqs.com

Thanks for the effort in response, but I am trying to play it, not pass it up if I can help it.

As I mentioned before, I need help figuring out what the best prize available for completing the first mini-game should be, to figure out if I have already accomplished it.

Is there a list of available prizes? Is there only one? Do I need to "catch" the treasure chests as well as the butterflies? Why can I only find one chest after the game is over? Is that all you get?

Those sort of things...

I suggest playing the Butterfly catching game when you have the airship.

You don't really need to go after the treasure chests. I think you should just go after the blue butterflies.

Also, finding a map for the mini-game would help a lot. Because that way, you'll know where the blue butterflies are.

I still don't think you get me...I've collected all seven butterflies...that's not the problem...

The only prize worth having from that minigame is a piece of Kimahri's celestial weapon. As I recall, the chest with the Saturn Sigil falls behind a tree at one of the bends in the path. I had to really search for it. Also, I've heard that you might not be able to get the sigil until after you have the airship, although I haven't verified it.

Once you've caught all the blue butterflies on a particular screen, a chest appears down the path from where you caught the last one. It has a varying item depending on when you play the game.

Geting the sigil after you've gotten the airship is just a better time to get it, because you're much stronger and so you waste little time. On a similar note, wasn't it fun dodging 200 lightning bolts in a row?
