hey now since i got time, ill try and register to become one cause i really lOve video game music and could type about it:

1) the nick youd like to go by if youre accepted:

-Shigezane

2) two or three sample blog entries. look at the current entries on Song a Day for an idea of what were looking for.

-Err... ill try my best at this:
Chrono Trigger ~ Epoch-Wings That Cross Time
Nobuo Uematsu is a great music composer. He has made many music soundtracks and people have enjoyed them. The most popular game music that he creates for is Final Fantasy. There are many other great series that he makes music for like Crono Trigger. It's an old classic RPG game that was for the Super Nintendo and was popular. One song that I enjoyed listening to from the game was Epoch-Wings That Cross Time. For me, it is a very relaxing song with good instrument choice.

Grandia 2 (Povo) ~ fight!! Version 4 ~ Last Battle
All I got to say is that this game was incredible. It has one of best story lines ever! Grandia 2 was orignally made for the Saga Dreamcast but it came out for the Ps2. There are many great songs from the game that everyone would enjoy. One song that got me addicted to it was the Last battle theme. I was fighting the last boss in the game and found out that the music was extrodinary! I would really recommend you guys to listen to this. It has excellent sounds to it that makes it good.

3) an idea of how many entries youre likely to make per week / month.

-around 3-5 or more it depends

There is my entry and i hope i get accepted =)

Sample Entries:

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: Spirit Temple
Ah, the Legend of Zelda. Simply saying those words can release people into hour long tangents about the game play, it's history, their adventures, the next game, and of course, the music. The Spirit Temple, is in my mind, one of the unsung songs from OoT. It is sad, mournful, and very moving. It's a song I know I could listen to for hours on end. It brings out the lonelyness, and dispair that is in the unhabited land. I never got to play enough in the Spirit Temple. It seems that I would never find time to make it that far in the game, and would usually start over before I got to that point. The instruments used fit so well together, and match the Spirit Temple's scenery as well. Overall a very powerful piece.

Super Mario 64 Ending
Super Mario 64 is a great Mario Game. It's also the first Mario Game to be truely 3D. I just love the music in this game, my favorite piece being the end theme. I was playing the final boss on the game to show someone the ending, and after I beat the Bowser, I realized that the song was going to come on, so I quickly turned put a blank CD into my stereo, and was just in time to record the entire song, from Mario's "Here we go!" and Peache's "Hey everyone, let's bake a delicious cake for Mario... Mario!" all the way to Mario's final line "Thank you so much(-a) for a playing my game!" The music is somewhat remincent of all the stages mushed together, and allows you to reflect on all the trials you went through to beat the game. Yet it's still upbeat, and has some neat instruments for your listening pleasure.

Hope that's what your looking for. Like I said before, as long as I am not too busy, I could post once or twice a month.

I'll help if I have a chance every week or so...I'm taking a music course just like this actually..funny thing is I use the soundtracks I have for my music journal. = )

Here's a sample entry or two..

-Armored Core 3: On Satelloid-
The song is in my opinion one of the greater theme's in the game compared to "Artificial Sky", which is the main theme of the game. Well fitted to the situation in the game(the last area), it plays as you continue on your mission to "The Controller" as you explore the mysterious area and recieve new info and messages from various people from the game about what your character is doing to the key structure of the hierarchy in the game. The music playing constantly has a choral part of it playing while the instremental focus on a type of situation that would sound desperate, as the situation in the game is during the mission. The serious atmosphere of the song is what gives it the edge over some of the other songs which in game don't seem to fit the situation. Overall, the song fits the area well and leads up to a tense encounter during the last areas.

-Radiata Stories: Song of Freedom Fighters-
Personally, I love all of the jazzy songs of this game. All of them seem to fit the circumstances for when they are played and few get repeated outside of the area in which they are used. Each character or area has his or her or its own personal theme. My favorite, "Song of Freedom Fighters" fits a slow paced jazzy swing played by trumpets and saxophones for its main theme. The music fits the area in game mainly due to it's laid back nature of the area and the time at which you go at your own pace, rarely speeding up. Very much ike the area, the music follows the same idea's and speeds up only at the chorus part of the song then it slows to a low speed allowing the main instrementalists to cath up. While a short song, it catches the area's tastes perfectly like many of the towns themes.
