I could'nt believe the pokemon mania, I remember I first watched it then I told my mates then wham, we were all victims in my school. Im sure It wasnt me who started it, but it has ruined some good channels like toonami which I remember that toonami was for teenagers who liked stuff from the darkerside/adult of cartoons. The only show on toonami shown now is the Justice League. So who remembers the major hype of pokemon?
man. i LIVE pokemon. and imo i started it all. i still remember reading it from my nintendo power magazine MANY MONTHS before the game ever came to US shores and how it was MASSIVE in japan. i was hyped, i baught the game the same month it came out, (red version!) and i've been addicted ever since. you might speak of it in the past tense. and i agree, the peak of its popularity has gone and went, but i still live it, so i like to speak of pokemon in the present.
the year was 1998. i can never forget that day. baught it from target for 28.88 total. (i think...oh no. i forgot!) lol. memories. i'm simply surprised i was able to see a lot of high school kids into it. (i was in highschool when pokemon hit) supposedly we is all mature and don't play kiddie games, but i've battled my share of opponents.
i still remember waking up early to watch pokemon at 7 AM on UPN channel 13 (before the wb baught it) and i was on vacation during that time. imagine waking up so early during your school vacation to watch a tv show. hell yah! i'm a fan!
as for toonami. it died. we all moved to adult swim now. i hate toonami now. its ghey. but i do miss the old days. my favorite and ultimate toonami lineup was:
sailor moon
dbz
gundam wing
outlaw star
(not particularly in that order).
but my fav show of all were sm and robotech.

Well i was into thye Pokemon thing as hell. Really the whole school was into it... But then again i was 9-10 years old. I mean me and my mates had this file where we put all our pokemon cards. We had EVERY card possible to get! Our parents must have been crazy. But all of us loved it... I remember getting the Pokemon Blue and a Gameboy. Man i was hyped.
Since i live in Norway i don't really know anything about the old Toonami, but here in Norway there are still some allrigth shows on. Pokemon never went there...

Heh. I remember when Pokemon was on everyone's mind. First, it was that damn Crazy Bones thing, until they were banned in our school for starting fights and a lot of other crap. One day, I saw my friend make a website involving Pokemon and I was curious. He introduced me to Red version and I got hooked. I hate the show now, but I still have some respect for the games and cards.

I first got into Pokemon in 96', when I saw my first episode of Pokemon, I didn't think it was different cause it was anime, cause there were like alot of Japanese anime in Korea at the time and well, what can I say. Anyway, I got Pokemon Green(Blue in America, I just found out), for 27,122 won off the internet. Plus, probably the most addicting game I've ever played other than Tetris.
aw man your lucky, chorns. you got it years before it hit US shores. ownage. a true pokemon veteran right here in our midst. i bow to you. :p

Oh man I remember those days. Fights over whose card was who, cards getting stolen, arguing over which pokemon was better then getting detention for talking in class. Sigh, fond memories :D
Then the school was invaded by teletubbies "shudder"
as for toonami. it died. we all moved to adult swim now. i hate toonami now.
Mmm yeah, we didn't get Cartoon Network when Sailor moon and stuff was on but now it totally sucks. I can't even watch Adult Swim coz its like 12am to two here in New Zealand and Iv'e got to study XP
