Why don't we have FF1-FF6 forums. It seems like there'd be enough to talk about. Any ideas why?

Don't start dumbass threads, you had to enter a FF1-6 forum to post it.

I think mox meant forums for each of the games, 1-6... not one forum for 1-6.

Because FF7-12 are more important. And better.

We had separate forums for 1-6 discussion, and they just didn't get traffic, and took up forum space. Besides, this Classics section generates less traffic than the FF7 forum alone.

Exactly why do you bother posting in the FF Classics Forum, then?

As you can see from my post total, I don't post here much anyway...
Anyway, I post in the classic section because they are still half decent games, and the forum isn't riddled with 'which character is hottest' posts. But I do think the later games are more deserving of their own forums.

Perhaps you'd like to explain why you think the later games are better? You at least sound like you have something to back that up, judging by your surprising lack of grammatical errors (those definitely run rampant in these forums).

I have always felt that all of the FF games past FF6 had a certain degree of maturity that the previous games lacked. While FF6 had begun the trend of creating slightly more complex protagonists, there was still a lack of the really dark feel that started in FF7. FF7 was the first game to incorporate a real complex villain, after the mindless destructive type seen in Kefka, and the evil dictator villains like X-Death, who didnt really have any actual depth. For the first time, you actually felt some sympathy for the antagonist, as Sephiroth himself was to some extent, merely a pawn of Jenova.
In addition, I enjoyed the way a lot of the plot was left to interpretation in the later FF games. You might notice that there arent as many wacky theories on FF1-6 then there are on the later FF games. This is because the earlier FF games were more black and white, they basically spoon fed you the plot. FF8 especially forced you to think a little, some of the pivotal character relationships were never actually stated out loud (ie, Squall and Laguna) and you were forced to piece things together yourself. FF8 was also the first game to introduce the love theme in any depth, thus far any implications of love were rather half-arsed.
Now to my favorite FF game: FFIX. You might think that this is rather ironic, since contain many of the plot devices utilized in classic FF series. However, I think the quote on the back of the US release of the game sums it up best:
In every way, FFIX takes the best of the old and mixes it with the best of the new.
FFIX has aspects of both medieval (most of the game) and the futuristic (Terra, The Invincible ect.). In essence, its the best of both worlds.
FFIX was also the first FF game that really emphasized the character development of minor character. To some extent, characters such as Vivi were even more complex than the happy-go-lucky antagonist. Not only that, but after digressing somewhat with FFVIII, FFIX follow the tend set in FFVII and managed to create what is possibly the most complex FF antagonist to date, the articulate yet destructive Kuja. He was the epitome of what we had seen in every FF game to date, the visually appealing angst villainy of Sephiroth mixed with the insanity of Kefka, with a little of the power hungry nature of Golbez mixed in there for good measure.
Now finally, FFX. With the new PS2 engine, not only was FFX able to incorporate even more spectacular graphics, but more importantly it could finally put voices behind the characters it was trying to portray. Finally, there was some emotion behind all of that wonderful dialogue to really give it that missing edge. Every PC received a nice amount of character development, even though some of them were a little annoying. FFX was the first FF game (excluding Tactics) to touch upon organized religion in any depth, which added a nice little satirical twist to the game. The antagonist, Seymour, was at the standard set in previous FF games. He provided the calculating evil that was lacking in the mindless destructive nature of Sin. FFX finally ditched the ATB battle system for something that allowed for more strategy; the CTB system. Finally, FFX had a nice bittersweet ending.or it would have if they hadnt f@#$ed it up by adding the scen with Tidus in the last few seconds.
Yeah, like the rest of you Im pissed off about FFX-2
Umyes. So that is why, in far too many words, the later FF games deserve their own forum more than FF1-6.

Either way, he would have at least seen the FF classics link, unless he's as dumb as... you are. I mean, they are right next to each other, i'm led to understand.

You make a good point, but with much more moderate wording than what you said earlier. It's quite different saying that the later FF games are more deserving of their own forums from just saying that FFVII-FFX are "more important and better." I know I sound nitpicky, but my first impression was that you were one of those "played FFVI for two seconds" people who just says that FFVII-FX are better because he's bigoted. Unfortunately I can't argue with you about the games right now because I have a lot of homework, and I don't really think this thread has any right to be alive anyway.

He may have seen classic ff's, but he may have thought it meant other things, I don't know (such as old gamebody ff's and other stuffs). WELL DONE ON THAT BURN THAR TOO.
