Maybe after I finish 2 then I'll just jump to 7 and then back to 4 when it comes out on GBA... I kinda wanna do another run of 7 before I watch AC anyway.

Oh wow, this is great news to me. I consider FFIV to be my favorite in the entire series, and now that I will be able to play it on my DS will fill me with such glee. It probably won't be long before we see FFVI follow suit, since the Japanese FFIII is being specially remade for the DS.

What I don't get is this. They are releasing FFIII on the Nintendo DS and FFIV on the GBA? Now that's just weird.

Where did you hear about FFIII on DS? FFIV is being release on GBA because of the graphics are much to weak for DS and I am thinking the same thing for FFIII. If FFIII is being release on DS than the game will probably be remade.

They probably are releasing it on the GBA because it would take them longer to port it to the DS. They are most liekly using it as A) a way to boost sales quickly, and B) a way to hold fans over for other games.

I heard about it from various sources. And it's not a huge secret; I'm sure you can find it on IGN.com or somewhere.

The graphics of FFIV have nothing to do on why it's not being remade for the DS. Just look at Dawn of Souls; same graphics as IV.

Yeah, the thing about 3 (the original 3, not 6, which was released as 3) is everywhere. I'm looking forward to that!

The dawn of Souls graphics are better than 4's. I here that a whole bunch of stuff will be added to the 4 remake for GBA. And it's supposed to come out in December!

Does anyone know if that is the date for the Japanese release, or the US release?

I believe that the U.S. release date is December 12th, but I may be thinking of a different game.

I hope your right about FF4 GBA being released December 12th. That would rock! I have always enjoyed playing FF4, and beinn able to play it virtually anywhere will be awesome! Now all they have to do is release FF6 fro the DS (I really hope they decide to do this).

I hope that it gets a bunch of extras and upgrades like Dawn of Souls got. That's what made the two games so much better. Improve the graphics, sound, dialogue. Then add as much extra content as possible.

What's wrong with the Dawn of Souls add ons? They helped add more to the game. And from what I hear, they will be adding lots of exclusive stuff for the GBA version of 4.

If a lot of bonus material will be added to the remake, then this is excellent news for me. It's my favorite Final Fantasy. One thing I desperately wish they change, however, is the way in which you can acquire a Pink Tail. You have to first encounter Pink Puff in battle, which is a 1/64 odd. Then, there is a 1/64 chance for the enemies to even drop a Pink Tail. So yeah, I wish they change it so it's not impossible for you to get the best armor in the game, Adamant.

Didn't they put new weapons/items into DoS that was not in the originals? Cause if so, I don't like it that much.

And also they will not take oout "You spoony bard!" because it is a classic line. Too classic to take out.

EDIT: Changes I can think of:

Lots of things renamed. (dislike)
Lots of new items have been added. (dislike)
Leveling up easier. (like to a certain extent)
A lot of bosses had their HP greatly increased(like to a certain extent)
New dungeons put in (like)
Saving can be done anywhere.(dislike)
New graphics(like)
B-Button Dash added.(like)

The entire game was re-translated. The original translation was done on a budget, by a team that didn't really know what they were doing - the 'renamed' names are more correct translations of the original jap names.

How come? Seriously. New items ftw!

It's a portable game. If you couldn't save anywhere, it wouldn't be too good to play on a bus, would it?

RPGamer just added a screen shot from Final Fantasy 4 GBA. The graphics are a bit better, and they added faces to the message boxes, just like they did with DoS.

You're right, it's just that I just like the idea of using Sleeping Bags and such to save.

I hope they let you select your characters for the end in the remake. That whole “Use the characters we put the most thought into” idea that Square used in FFIV was annoying…

And who wouldn't want to use Edward to beat Zeromus?

I wouldn't like that; being able to choose your characters in the fight against Zemorus. I think that Cecil, Kain, Rosa, Rydia, and Edge are the greatest party that Final Fantasy has ever assembled. Each one has a unique purpose and contributes a lot to victories.

FFIII (the real FFIII, not FFVI) is in fact being remade with 3D graphics on the DS, the first 2D-to-3D conversion in the series. It will have 3D characters and 3D backdrops, unlike the PS1 FFs. I'm looking forward to it since I really liked the original FFIII on the NES.

As for FFIV, I hope it isn't just a minor update on the PS1 version, since there should be enough new features to justify its purchase on the GBA. But I do hope they keep the FMV sequences from the PS1 on the GBA version.

Near the beginning of the game, after Anna gets killed in bombings from the Baron Red Wings. Tellah thinks that it's Edwards fault that his daughter is dying, and the old man starts wacking the bard.

Hey Smokey, according to a new update (http://www.rpgamer.com/news/Q4-2005/101805a.html) you can...

Veterans of Final Fantasy IV will likely recall the assemblage of characters in the game's final chapter, but in Final Fantasy IV Advance, players will be able to make use of them. The site shows off this change with a screenshot of Cid and Edward in the final party.

Also, even though it is in the above link the website is up.

I read on GameFAQs that both Final Fantasy IV and V Advance are now available for GBA. Anyone else here know anything more about what's different in these versions. I don't have GBA, but I'm still curious.

Apparently, FFIV is almost a perfect port of the original version. A little bit of the dialogue has been cleaned up, but nothing was significantly changed. Also, the characters at the beginning apparently start with some new moves that were in the Japanese version, but left out of the US version.

That's all I know. I hadn't even heard anything about FFV being released on GBA, although I know a release of VI is planned. After a little bit of digging, however, it seems this is true!

FFV on GBA interests me a lot. If I got a GBA, it may be the first one I play, although I'd want to play Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories also.

As for the new moves in FFIV --- might that include Cecil's Dark Wave / Dark Shock?

I finally got it.... all I can say is: very good SquareEnix! The graphics are very nice. Granted, I must say that some of the new graphics didn't work very well. Most of the face art is made very small, making Rosa have a head that's half the size of Rydia's, and Edwards pic makes him look a lot more effeminate than in the origonal face pic. However, there is one part that makes up for any mediocre face art: they kept the Spoony Bard Line!

I'm already close to finishing the game, and the only gripe that I have about it is the lag. Yes, the game lags. When you are in battle, you will often see the actions that you are trying to do slow up and it is noticable. :(

I think pretty much all the battle action and flying around is slowed down noticablly. I beat the game earlier in just about 20 hours. That was going straight through without stopping for any major leveling up or finding hidden stuff. Also excluded the extra content which looks pretty neat. But now I'm playing it through again and will try to unlock everything possible.
