I hooked up the PSONE those newer tiny ones they made, and I played about 5 hours of FF9, this game is so different from say FF7 and FF8 the whole skill system and the sythesizing of items. Anybody have any good pointers for me, im at that Animal Hunt festival part.

and how would you guys compare this Final Fantasy to the other games? does it get good or what? I noticed the graphics were much improved from FF7 on the PS-ONE

Well keep at it, I think the battles are a little gating at times having to beat the same monsters over and over can get annoying but it's still one of the best. Basically I prefer this to all FF bar FF7.

I wont spoil anything for you but I think the game is better at the start. It's a little dull when you finally get to explore the world beyond the mist continent. You may think differently.

I`d personaly say it`s possibly the best FF game overall. I adored everything about it, the characters, the music, the battle, the backgrounds etc....

If you ask me, it's the only PSX FF worth playing because the skill system was somewhat balanced, unlike 7 and 8. On top of that, there's real character development and a cohesive (albeit simplistic) plot, which the previous games lacked.

There's really no advice I have to give other than reading the tutorials and experimenting.

Ya try not to ruin things, I'm diggin the frog catching part thats pretty cool. And the whole 4 members in your party is quite intense. Lvling is slow but i like that. My only complaint is the battle system is abit slow like i find myself waiting for my guys to be ready to attack and the monsters are just sittin there.

Overall im really likin this game though.

Take your time with the game. You only get to play it for the first time once.

I must admit I really enjoyed it the first time around.

I just go by higher numbers on the card game. : / I can't tell that much either. Anyways if you are still at the festival of the hunt which you probably arn't but if you are than hunt down the fangs first. I got that from the instruction book. :)

I hate not being able to have cure magic in your party, and having to heal with potions, I mean come on my guys have 500-700 life get hit for like 160, and im using items that heal 1 character for 150.

Stupid Garnet being held captive, bosses just tear me apart. I need my White Magic!

How cool do the summons look in this game, when you get to use em?

The summons rarely appears the full attack sequence but some are great, don't worry about it make Quina eat a griff

The first digit is attack strength of the card.
The second indicates the type of attack either physical or magical. (P and M respectively)
The third is physical defense.
Lastly magical defense.

Thats about all I can remember.

I am not sure, anyone would want to get quina. (if it is optional)

ya Quina is annoying I dont like how it talks, and Zorn and Thorn are annoying too, but by far the easiest boss i've fought so far. I Love Freya, shes just so strong compared to the other chars, excluding zidane.

Having to heal with potions early on is a bit of pain, but it's not too bad.

Quina rocks, I don't know why everyone hates Quina so much. Get Quina, go look for some enemies to eat and learn some good blue magic --- if you can get Quina's Limit Glove (try the Mandragoras in the forests), you might be able to take out the Grand Dragons by climbing the vine in the area where the moogle couple is and soon you'll be rolling in EXP and levels. Lv5 Death death will be invaluable once you can get it later in the game and Auto-Life's not bad either.

I don't usually waste my time with summons in this game --- it's usually faster and easier to use attacks or skills.

Why has anybody not mentioned chocobos yet? If you haven't already, get yourself over to the Chocobo's Forest as soon as the next opportunity presents itself --- play Chocobo Hot and Cold, get as many chocographs as possible, etc. etc. and soon you'll have all sorts of good stuff. And make sure to keep up on the chocobo sidequest throughout the game.

And finally, are you delivering are the moogle letters through Mognet and keeping up with Stiltzkin? It's not all that major, but it definitely adds to the interest of the game.

Ah: And Zorn and Thorn will be a little harder next time, i said to use Quina because with ome of her attacks can do major damage, but like you i prefer freya

K people im stuck on this part, Its after Queen Brahne attacked Lindblum and recked the Industrial District, and I have to go to the Dragon Gate and go to Qu's Marsh, I'm guessing the Dragon Gate is in the castle somewhere, but i left the castle, how do I get back in?

Agent0042

You should head to the aircab station and call for an aircab to take you back to the castle.

The Aircab only goes back and forth from the Theatre district and the Business District...

Heh heh, very cute Tha_Abbot_Nza.

Anyway --- I think I remember about this section now --- there was a guy who told you that you're welcome to go around and stock up, but once you're done, you need to go talk to him. So that's what you need to do --- you to go back to that section of the Commercial District and talk to him --- I think he'll ask you if you're ready --- say that you are and then you can continue on.
