Was FFX a completist game? after playing throught FFX I thought that the sphere grid's immense potential for stat maxing and the difficulty of the dark aeons, heightened my suspicion that FF games are starting to become very difficult to complete, what with weapons and (aeons) there impossible to find all yourself you now need a guide for the FF games
What do all u shriners think?
At least that of my chest (*exhales*)

Well, as I haven't even bothered to try and finish the game 100% I wouldn't know. But a game really isn't that fun if it isn't a bit challenging.

My thoughts exactly.

all those extra's are good but i think what really matters is the story line and not some extra's. same with ffx-2.
when i've completed the game and the story has ended i don't play it that often anymore. it just isn't that mutch fun anymore
If all you want is a story, read a book. =/
Games are meant to be played, not watched like a movie or read like a book. A story is only part of what makes a good game, and a much smaller one than things like gameplay or fun factor.

A storyline is all well and good but I hate leaving a game half-finished, althought it's not fun without a challenge, it's not a game that is 100% completable without a guide for instance the bevelle temple anoyed me as i didn't get the spirit lance therefore i couldn't get Anima

I liked the idea where you could go either finish the game and complete the stoy, or take the challanges (not needed to complete the game), just to boost the game's longlivety.

Yeah, that was probably my favourite bit about it, that and the fact that if you wanted to you could spend hours just trying to get a shitload of dark matters, just to get break damage limit and break hp limit on your own custom armours and weapons

the dark aeons are stupid to go against because u hav to really full stats to do any damage and u have to go aganist something else with ful stats and 12000000 hp on its body and 500000 for each arm and he is immune to every thing

I agree, ever since Resident Evil 2/with a game that might need a guide ive bought the guide with it. I dont care about 100%, but i tell you what, there is no way in hell that i could have figured out the maze temple on my own. Anyon who says they did, should get a prize of some sort. I dont read ahead on the guide ever, i just follow it as the story goes, and for me it dose not take away from the gameplay at all. BUT im the kind of guy who reads movie scripts and i dont get bothered by spoilers.

It's relatively easy to finish the story but very hard to completely finish the game- but hasn't it been that way for all FFs? I haven't noticed a general trend of it getting harder and harder...

I think FFx isn't a completist game. Just a game that is (only slightly) non-linear. I think the essence of Final fantasy rests in it's story anyway- even if blitzball and chocobo training do rock

Im into 90 hours my first play through. Im maxing out with all my characters on the spear grid. My biggest problem is running out of spears...Its taking forever...

i have all the secret aeons and i have only a little bit of the legendary weapons...but i think that the most difficult part is to complete the monster arena...and to beat them.
i didn't bother doing it.And blitz and the chocobos...didn't do it either...i finished the game without doing it at 100%...but i admit that it's annoying to leave a game incomplete.
btw...i have the official guide but even when you have it it's still difficult...
