Oh man, you're really missing out on something if you thought they were good. Get Yonemitsu's TurboGrafx-CD versions. They will blow your mind (And I'm not joking). I tend to prefer The Oath in Felghana over the other version only because it contains some of the best arrangements of the tracks, but one cannot deny that Yonemitsu was the best arranger in VGM. It's a pity he just vanished.

-Let me point you in the direction of great video game music.

Arcanum Main Theme - One of the most beautiful compositions I've heard, it can even challenge Mozart and Bach.

7th Legion Intro Song - The game itself is not very good but the intro and the accompanying music is just great, in my opinnion the best intro movie ever made and the score is up there as well.

The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind Main Theme - Very good indeed, I use it as a ring tone.

Duke Nukem 3D Main Theme - Well, this is just a hallmark in video game music.

C&C: Red Alert Main Theme - Same as Duke Nukem 3D.

But generally, most of my favorite video game songs are Final Fantasy songs, i dunno, I don't play many other video games, but I've never really been as emotionally triggered or captivated by a game as much as I have with final fantasy games, especially 7.

Epic moment, entering Kuldahar to this music after fighting through the cold pass filled with goblins, it was totally welcoming.

Just awesome because of the classic, lone Lara, working her way across mountainous terrain, reach a high point and spy the vista, and the music starts as she's looking across the mountain tops.
2. Tomb Raider: Legend (Nepal Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbC5VA5bJUg))

Dunno why but I loved this tune. Kinda works better when Lara is diving around and the report of her guns is blaring. Loads of memorable tracks for this game, s'probably why it won awards for the soundtrack, which coupled with the award wining story too just worked brilliantly.
3. Tomb Raider: Underworld (Natla's Ship (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ovr05-KAZ0c))

I liked most of the RotA score, especially the State of Grace, and Alceme stuff.
4. Rise of the Argonauts (Theme of Kythra/Athena (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhX64gn900Y))

I think the M2:TW score is epic, if it can make you feel like you're navigating a world in the middle ages when you're essentially just looking at a basic map onscreen, s'gotta be doing something right. The battle music is also epic. Rome's score was equally good, if not better.

Brilliant score for DA:O. Everything from the main theme, battle sequences, right down to those little romance segments that played for thirty seconds while the characters shared a smooch. Main theme set the whole game up before you played each time.
6. Dragon Age: Origins (Main Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWFEVbfCcOY))

Excellent score for the dull, dark brown shooter. If the devs had known anything about basic game design, like implementing character backgrounds into the actual game rather than in hidden, unlockable 'extras' in the game menu, basic level design, pacing etc... might have been a winner and good base for a big franchise.
7. Clive Barker's Jericho (Firstborn Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSaLYhsG5Dg&feature=related))

Classic score, brilliant game if you can get past the graphics that were dated next to stuff like RtCW and QIIIA when it was released. Great story, Covenants FTW.

More Jeremy Soule... loads of excellent tracks. Spent so much time dicking around with the Aurora toolset and just generally using NwN as a chat room I listened to most tracks unconsciously, while shooting the poo with other players.
