It took it long enough - it was bad enough waiting since the Japanese release, only to have it delayed two weeks - with nothing extra to show for it!
Bad form by Sony, i say.

I meant nothing extra over the Japanese 2.0 - it's a huge step up from 1.52. The Jap firmware wa released a month ago, and was completely compatible with US PSPs - except it voided your warranty.
So basically, Sony sat on it for another 3 weeks (probably working on the Australian launch, though according to recent figures 25% of Australians who want a PSP already have an import one), and now we've got the same product. Literally.
It has a huge benefit for us in PAL territories - unlocking UMD movies! So i'll be able to play Australian UMDs in my US PSP,

From what I heard, the JPN 2.0 firmware didn't void your warranty. Considering that all firmware updates were identical byte per byte in all regions. Some even have called Sony themselves and simply said that it didn't void your warranty but they cannot provide customer service for it yet (well, they can now since 2.0 finally came out here)

I SO want it, I still dunno if the PSP I ordered for the releae (Thursday, only 4 more days, yehaaaa!) has 2.0 already or not, but I don't think so, so I'll have to wait for 2.0 to be brought to Germany.

The European PSPs come bundled with firmware 2.0 already!
So you'll have web functionality and the AVC codec already.
Not to mention nifty backgrounds and themes :)
