The reason i made this topic becuase i always thought that FFIX had the best towns. Why?, mainly becuase they had a lot of atmosphere. Somehow, even though they were pre-rendered backgrounds they felt alive.
So which area did it for you?. I personaly would choose Burmecia. Everything about it appeals to me. And if the great backgrounds weren`t good enough, the soundtrack was the cherry on top.
Anyone else?

Burmecia such an awsome score, and cool backgrounds, i liked Lindblum, and i loved that Volcano, don't remember the name

Lindblum for me, but for my second choice I'd say Memoria.

i really liked the music associated with memoria, it was wild... but i really liked cleyra as far as environmentally, and lindblum i would say was the most alive... treno was really cool too... i dunno, every city seemed to have its own world intwined into it; much more than a typical rpg city, based only on weapon/armor shopping and looking for info on the latest boss. FFIX really brought itself together by putting all the smaller stories behind every villager, and how they all seem to be actual living people
Black Mage Village when they first time coming and at nigth when they talking about Vivi.

That's a tough one. They're all so atmospheric but ive never really noticed before.
I guess the scale of Lindblum stands out most for me. You know it's a massive city yet you don't really get to see much of it.
Also The start of the game in Alexandria is awesome, you can tell something big is happening.

Man, I can't deside. I love Alexandria, for some reason, but also Cleyra, Lindblum and Dali. But Black Mage Village had the best atmosphere in my opinion. This being the most peaceful and idyllic place, it's also my favourite town in FFIX. Eiko's hometown is also awesome.
Dali might be the best actually next to alexandria

Ah, I definitely agree that the FF9 towns had a LOT of atmosphere. A lot of for me had to do with the music as well.
Dali was the first town I really remember REALLY making me feel like, "Wow, this place is so nice..." ^_^ It's kinda weird, but I can remember exactly how I felt the first time I ever played FF9 and got to Dali. So Dali is one of my sentimental favorites.
But the other place I really love is Alexandria. ^_^

I think Treno was the most atmospheric town of them all, The auction house kept it fun and exciting, and I loved to see all the thugs and pickpockets tantalizing the nobles, I found it pretty funny, also, I like the night time, so that town really felt neat to me.

hmmmm. I like lindblum due to its variety of ppl and amazing backrounds. I also liked Black Mage Village as well. it had a certain seclusion and peacefulness that I liked. Almost like the town was in tis own world.

City of Treno, It had a nice night time ambience, The soft melodic piano tune that went well for the quiet atmosphere of the city, and the lighting went well with everything.
I also liked the comparison of the rich and poor quarters.
