Hey everyone. Im new here. I wrote a poem last night after thinking about Yu Yevon, the final boss from FFX. I hope you enjoy it.
Long ago and far away
You dwelt in a dream
An enchanted forest
Where liquid silver flowed like rain
And the iron trees grazed the sky.
A doomed place.
Yet, against the uncompassionate Fate you stood
Ill prepared to accept the loss of your world.
On and on through time
The dream you kept alive
How could you have known
That seeds of sorrow you would sow?
To yourself, did you think
That if one dream must end, then another must begin?
Did you strive for balance? For justice?
Were you, faced with small choice
Prepared to sacrifice all to save
What could be salvaged?
A high price to pay for a memory.
On and on through time
The dream you kept alive
How could you have known
That seeds of sorrow you would sow?
Yet I too have known
Of the pain of losing home
For such a place is more than just
Metal and Wood and Stone
It is a life
And some lives you would give anything to save.
On and on through time
The dream you kept alive
Never could you know
Of the sorrow that would grow.
And some would say that
A memory is nice, but nothing more,
But I know the difficulty of the truth.
Memories may fade
But they never go away
And the dreams we wish to keep
Do not forever stay.
